this is actually hilarious, the Top 10 Hawks vs. Canucks moments: http://youtu.be/fi9tGGCnxnY

The Canucks basically get their ass kicked that entire video except for Willie Mitchell's hit, and their coach in '82 bitching about the refs with a white towel.

You watch your mouth, Roger Neilson's was one of the most down-to-earth, well respected men in the game. He's not just "their coach", and he wasn't just "bitching". Let's get that straight right off the bat.

I'm not knocking the man as a person, or as a coach....but he is complaining about the officials, and Vancouver thought that was just glorious.

I have no idea what to expect. I don't see it being him saying he's taking the year off cause it's such a crap shoot to when you'll feel better no need to say you for sure won't be back, unless it's much worse than they are telling us.

I'm thinking it's mainly a PR move. He hasn't addressed the media for a while, so this is more of a way to get out in front of fans and press and show that he's still alive and moving. My guess is we'll get the standard "no timetable for return" and "waiting until he's 100% to come back" statements.

Yeah. I don't think there will ever be a clear cut decision made this year.

Yeah. It's just an appearance. The retirement talk is just ridiculous. He would never give up the money that he is owed. It doesn't make sense for Sid to retire and not try to come back.

I'm thinking something in late December or maybe after the start of 2012. A friend of mine reminded me yesterday that Andreas Lilja was gone for a full calendar year. Got hurt in Feb 09 and didn't come back until I think just after the Olympics in 2010. It can be a VERY long time. As you know with Savard. He doesn't seem to be coming back ever.

Just defensive because Vancouver is one of the best cities in the world and yes the riot was embarrassing. Same as the London riots. Doesn't mean it isn't an amazing city. Both are better than Boston or Chicago for sure. Point out another city that has had a riot and after losing the cup and blaming it on the nhl? Of course I can't. Only two countries have the nhl so that limits it. I already said it was stupid to blame it on the nhl. Doesn't mean that Boston is any way a better city than Vancouver though. Only two countries have the nhl so that limits it. I already said it was stupid to blame it on the nhl. Doesn't mean that Boston is any way a better city than Vancouver though. Other than in last years NHL playoffs.

Once again I didn't say the city of Vancouver sucked. I pointed out in my last post it was some of the residents and the city officials. I've been to Vancouver and it is a very nice city. Too bad the city can't control its residents.

A lot of positivity coming out of Crosby's presser. Still no time table on a return, but rebuffs the idea of retirement and is confident he'll be back this season. The 2 docs gave some really good insight into the extent of the injury and how difficult the recovery was/is.

After some reports Salei was meeting the team in Minsk he has been confirmed dead. RIP Rustry. Three little girls at home and one born just before Griffin. I can't imagine.

Can't believe they still held that trivial Crosby presser after this tragedy.

They had people from all over Canada fly in for this thing. They had to hold it. They at least sent their condolences to Russia and everyone involved in the beginning.

It was already scheduled... you can't predict something like this happening. They went about business as usual, which is really all you can do in this case.

Awful year. I still don't think Crosby ever plays again, or at best doesn't have the career we always thought he would have.

even injuries aside, I think he had too much pressure on him to be the "face of hockey". Even if he's healthy, it may be procieved he's not and he will retire due to "health issues". Everyone's going to expect him to come back and play the top of his game. he is probably trying to avoid that. I dunno, my two cents.

If he recovers 100% he'll be fine.

The doctors. I don't know why I believed that part, but not that he'll be back though.

I wonder if Matt Cooke is beginning to understand how devastating concussions can be for NHL players.

I think he'll be back. When? I dunno. After the 1st of the year I'm starting to get. Will he be what he was or what we expect? No way to tell. I know Lilja is no Crosby but he came back and played pretty good considering so we'll see. Lets face it Crosby's skill level is so high that even if he's 85% as good as he was he's still better than most.

Yeah, but concussions are a different beast for everyone. I mean look at Lindros, after the Kasperitis hit he never really was the same, and his career was really over after Stevens laid him out. I want Crosby back so badly, but anyone who thinks he's going to be just flat out awesome is just living in dreamland. You have to think there is some hesitancy for him going into corners, no matter what he says.

Had to call someone out for the following comments on Facebook today...

"A Ferrari of hockey players he's a freaking tempo. Give me a break. Not even close to contact what a joke. Ur 90% but not close to contact. I smell something and it's not a man."

"This guy can bull shit some people but ur not fooling me. Give some of those millions back so we can sign someone that wants to play. Now this guy can't listen to radio or watch tv it hurts him. I'm changing the channel this is a joke."

Just stupid comments all around, in my opinion. I asked him who Marc Savard was playing for this season.

Who is to say he wont be? If you watched the presser today, you know there is more treatment and knowledge about these things. I personally think Sid will be back and ready to go. He wouldn't have taken this long if he didn't think he would be.

There isn't a sense of this at all. Not when the Penguins and outside doctors are saying he's not playing until he's ready. There is no rush. Quite frankly the Pens don't give a fuck if he is the face of the league. If it was the case that he cared, he would have been back for the playoffs.

Vancouver, as a city, is slightly above average at best.
