Perhaps, but their D really isn't as big an issue as is their forward unit right now. After their top line and Selanne, their depth drops off dramatically. If Ryan goes, and remember Selanne will probably be gone next season as well, they've got quite a bit of point production to replace and generate more of. They will want secondary scoring.

Meanwhile, on the back-end they've got all sorts of depth. Young guys like Fowler and Sbisa are complemented by vets like Lydman, Beauchemin, and the underrated Visnovsky.

Slow here at work so I just looked up an interesting stat. The Ducks have scored 49 goals this season, and 20 have come from Selanne, Getzlaf, Perry, and Ryan. Also, only SIX forwards (the aforementioned plus Koivu and Cogliano) have scored more than ONE goal this season. They will definitely want scoring.

Hey guys, if you want some quality hockey shirts, check out Grinder Threads. http://www.grinderthreads.com/

They're affiliated with our site but I honestly wouldn't waste your time if I didn't think these were quality shirts. They're similar in material to DMB's tour shirts and they're very comfy. Some great shirts including The Checking Line which was made to tribute our hockey site.

Do they shrink like DMB's shirts do?

Roose13 11-29-2011 05:13 PM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Good question. Got mine yesterday, washed it and it didn't shrink. Then again I hang-dry most of my shirts so they don't shrink.

I don't know if it'll happen in future washes.

Neal snipe, Crosby's 10th point in 5 games.

Crosby is so nasty with the backhand, whether it's passing or scoring.

And I love the ferociousness in NYR/PIT/PHI/NJ games when they play each other. The Atlantic is so underrated in the hatred department.

The Hawks aren't making anything happen. After the first 4 minutes they went to sleep.

Just another lifeless performance. They are so frustratingly inconsistent.

I would hardly call this lifeless. I would call it "Playing Phoenix." Very similar to it's cousin "Playing Nashville."

Allowing a much, much, much less talented team to impose their game at will is pretty lifeless to me. 2 shots in the 2nd period so far is pretty lifeless. They just aren't competing as hard as Phoenix, and that has been happening too often lately. I really hope they can turn it around in this game but they just aren't getting much momentum going.

2 out of the last 9 games does not qualify as "happening too much." Outside of Calgary and Edmonton, this team has played well to awesome in almost every game.

You conveniently cut it off at the last 9 games because the two before that were back-to-back dreadful performances against Vancouver and St. Louis. That makes it 4 out of 11. Include tonight, and you have 5 out of 12 if they don't completely turn it around in the 3rd. Then lose a game that could go either way to San Jose, and we're headed for 6-6 in the last 12.

But, they did it against Anaheim so if they can gut out another big 3rd, I will be more than happy to take it all back.

Don't say "this has been happening too much lately" and then when I go back and look at the games that have actually happened lately, be mad that I cut it off.

Ok, then it's more of a symptom of this year's team in general, unfortunately.
