2021 Tour Rumors/Status

Unless I missed it, I was surprised to see no existing general 2021 Tour rumors or status thread.

Is it a safe assumption that despite announced dates there won’t be a 2021 tour?

Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

The 2020 Rumors Thread has become the 2021 Rumors Thread, and even the 2022 Rumors Thread a little bit! It’s quite a lively discussion!

Basically, I wouldn’t plan on anything for 2021.

Cancelled.

I predict that the June and July dates will be cancelled. No shows scheduled for August. Tour will start September 1st in Vancouver BC. I think they will try as hard as possible to have even a short tour this year 2021 is their 30th anniversary year.

25,000 attended the Super Bowl without a problem. There will be a summer tour.

It’s true, whether you like it or not. The super bowl wasn’t relying on fans in the stands to make money. That is exactly how concerts make money.

8,000 of them were fully vaccinated healthcare workers

How is this something that needs to be stated? People are actually arguing against this?

I've responded to "if xxx number of people can attend this sporting event, there is no reason concerts shouldn't happen" many times the last few months.

It’s unfortunate. Concerts COULD happen this summer, if everyone would just chill out a little. Require masks, and open the god damn gates. Sure, there might be a risk... but the majority of Americans will be vaccinated by summer. ALL of the vulnerable people will be vaccinated by the , which I thought was the whole point.

These concerts SHOULD happen... ALL OF THEM. But they won’t, and it’s a bunch of bullfuck.

Wow, that's very good news! Obviously the UK is a bit more homogeneous than the U.S., but I'd imagine by late Spring quite a few states will be in even better shape than the UK is as far as positivity rates and hospitalization rates.

Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

Reading this morning that J&J will get approved on Friday + the Moderna & Pfizer shipment, it sounds like most adults will have a first shot by end of April. And at my Novavax appointment tomorrow it sounds like they could submit their data as soon as two weeks away with approval by end of March. All signs point towards herd immunity by Memorial Day if things go as forecasted.

It's difficult for me not to say, start the shows in July if that's the case. I do think many venues will open back up this summer. Mostly clubs, outdoor venues, maybe some theater shows. But I'm full on Labor Day weekend as the launch point for normal concerts. If we can reach herd immunity by Memorial Day and have a normal summer with no major gaffes*, then let's restart life.

*Small outbreaks will happen because pockets will not be immunized. Very similar to flu season every year. But it won't be severe enough to shut down anything, except maybe a school.

Not a chance in hell I’m going to shows until there’s way more people vaccinated in the US. Even if they have shows this summer.

I have an autoimmune child so I can’t risk bringing home the Rona.

Most adults will have a first shot within the next 66 days?

Herd immunity within the next 97 days?

Really? I'll have some of what you're smoking.

My guess....most adults will have a first shot by End of August. Herd immunity by Late October. Assuming no significant steps backward.

That’s your choice and I think we can all respect your reasons.

If the shows were to happen, you should be be allowed to get a full refund without having to jump through any hoops.

Instead of being rude, perhaps you should put me on your Ignore list, so you don't have to see my posts. I have a right to my opinion. And apparently you seem to think my "opinion" has some bearing on what will occur. It won't, so if I'm completely wrong, you'll be get your essential DMB shows in a few months.

We'll see what happens. If I'm wrong, and there is anything even remotely approaching herd immunity by Memorial Day, I'll post about how completely wrong I was, and how you were dead on accurate.

I will hold my breath that anyone who thinks I'm completely off base, will give any sort of apology if we're still waiting for DMB shows to happen come October.

And I point out again, MY OPINION HAS NO BEARING ON WHAT WILL OR WON'T HAPPEN. I have tickets to both So Cal shows in September, and will be there if they occur. I'm not confident that they will though, but time will tell.

Thinking you have a right to your opinion without heaps of criticism is so ten years ago. Welcome to the new US. You must be new here.

Telling someone to shut up about their opinion is not criticism of the opinion though. Its basically telling someone not to express their opinion.

Yes - and saying "it's just my opinion, it doesn't have any bearing on the actual outcome" when you just got slammed with 15 articles that are at odds with your opinion certainly opens the door for some criticism.

prdstmnky36 02-24-2021 01:15 PM

Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

Again, its not criticism. Criticizing someones opinion, having a difference of opinion, a constructive conversation...completely fine. Telling someone not to express their opinion, not fine.

Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

It goes without saying sporting events and concerts have two different needs to occur. Nobody doubts MLB will start on time; it's safe to say there won't be any concerts April 1st.

The issue for a tour is that the schedule is planned to maximize attendance across multiple states that are all on different vaccination schedules. So even though CT, for example, could reasonably have a capacity concert in July(open vaccination effectively begins May 3rd in CT) , that same tour may not be able to go into PA the following day.

Simply put, I fully expect most MLB stadiums to have some fans in attendance by July but because concerts rely on the potential of 100% capacity across the entire tour it just seems like most summer tours will be cancelled.
