have to wonder how well this sells; I'm guessing more than a couple people viewed last year as a one-time-only thing

what the fuck no full band

Wish they would have spread those payments out a bit, 4 payments in less than 4 months seems a bit aggressive.

I don't think this effects weather we will get a full band tour next year. But it seemed like a great opportunity for some warmup shows for the full band before the summer tour

Yep. Everyone I know that went last year is definitely going back if schedules allow. Definitely not a one time thing.

Just like people say the Gorge is a "one time thing" (myself included).

Plus so many of us came back and told friends how amazing of experience it was - and those who didn't go kinda sat back to see how it went, didn't want to be the guinea pig, and now want to go this time...

Re: *Official Dave and Tim Mexico 2018*

this math was all done last year I'm sure, but a single occupancy during these 4-night dates at this resort costs 1680, taxes included

single occupancy 4-night package for the concerts costs 3,324

hope the shows are good!

EDIT: throw in shared transfers and the costs rises to 1,753 through the resort

and don't forget about the free dave and tim merchandise gift!

Re: *Official Dave and Tim Mexico 2018*

for a difference of 1600 dollars it's worth it to just book the resort and try to talk your way into the shows IMO

I went last year (we had a great time) and talked to my wife today and she simply said "who do I send my money too ... of course we are going again!" if this helps anyone's decision

Presale is in 2 days?!?! I guess last year took a while to sell out so probably don't need to rush. I went last year and loved it, but I have no clue what my vacation situation in January is yet.

Pretty much everyone I've talked to had the same reaction :)

Any recommendations on places to stay nearby and hear these shows from down on the beach? We are Really on the fence here due to cost but i would think it would be cool to listen from a short distance away..

Interesting, everyone I know said it is too close and not doing it again (at least this time around)
You have a point about Gorge though, lots of people do say that as well

Gorge can be done significantly cheaper for two people.

Was 100% in for DMB, about 75% in for D&T. Very tempting.

You can probably stay at Barcelo independent of the event and you'll be able to hear it from the regular beach.

We caught the soundcheck this year while we were on the beach. We were relatively far away but the sound wasn't terrible.

Also, I may be wrong but I don't think you'd be able to hear it from any other resorts. Barcelo is huge.

There isn't anything really nearby, you would have to stay at the Barcelo to really hear anything.

I'm a self described sound snob. How was the sound for the shows? Considering the loud drunk people and ocean sound nearby?

That's what we did this February (we had already booked Barcelo before D&T was announced).

Watched each night from the back gate. Sound was great, could see D&T albeit they were far away....

We brought the kids last year, and am definitely thinking of just the wife and I going next year through CID. It was hard meeting all of the fans during the day at the beach/pool knowing that we couldn't get inside the gates...

I'm not a sound snob, but this year I'd guess the winds would've been a bigger issue for you than either the crowd or ocean.

Might pull the trigger on this. Already going to Riviera Maya for a destination wedding in September though lol. I guess if I have a blast, adding three D&T shows will make this a no brainer.

Again, and Dave and Tim again? I'd prefer a different location and full band.

Re: *Official Dave and Tim Mexico 2018*

Took my wife and daughter last year and had a blast. CID put together a top notch experience, so the inflated price (compared to just staying at the resort) isn't just for the concerts, although you are paying a premium price for the experience, to be sure. I was 100% in on a full DMB show there in 2018, or even a Dave and friends. It being a repeat of D&T makes the decision to return more difficult. I wish we had some idea what was on tap for the rest of the year tourwise. I also wish I had more than a few days till the presale, that's twice in a week that DMB has dropped an expensive surprise on me.

Sound quality at the shows last year was solid, we sat toward the right of the stage about level with the sound tent, toward the back of the crowd. Although really, you shouldn't go to these shows expecting the best sound ever, the highlight of the experience is definitely the venue which is probably the most beautiful place to see a show that I will ever be lucky enough to experience. I enjoy audiophile quality music at home, but my expectations for live shows are much lower, so ymmv. Dave did mention the wind specifically as being a challenge for the sound crew at these shows.

I met one woman last year who didn't have tickets, she sat on the beach just outside the venue each night and said she could hear fine and was enjoying the shows.

Re: *Official Dave and Tim Mexico 2018*

what did CID add to the experience that was not a concert itself
