Re: Rate the Album
Solid 4. Stand Up Act II.
|
Re: Rate the Album
I gave it a 6. It'd be a 5 without Come On Come On. That song is great.
|
Re: Rate the Album
I'd say a 4. It's just not that musically or lyrically interesting for the most part.
|
Re: Rate the Album
Just glad here on out wasn't butchered. Great song.

4... and I think I'm being generous
|
Re: Rate the Album
literally listening to every song wondering what the fuck they were thinking.
kinda embarrassing |
Re: Rate the Album
Not dmb. Dave with a backing band. Two very different sounds. Horns are now irrelevant. Just play 70s style outros. Not part of the song.

Re: Rate the Album
Fuck it, going with 8. New and different for DMB but I'm ok with that. Still digesting it as I've only listened once all the way through. But I liked a lot of what I heard.

Re: Rate the Album
Sooooo can anyone message a fellow fan looking to listen to it?
|
Re: Rate the Album
i will rate if someone can send me a PM ...I'm dying to hear it
|
Re: Rate the Album
WOW
The production salvages so many of these songs, unbelievable. Can't remember a DMB album where this was the case. |

Re: Rate the Album
Right now I’m deadset at a 5. Which oddly enough...
On the set list rating scale it’s a +5. Which is not good. This is a complicated set of songs. I guess the biggest complaints are how sped up and rushed through some of the tracks feel. Nothing is given the space necessary to flourish. When their studio work mirrors their musical style on stage while maintaining tight production — that’s good DMB. But that only hits in a couple tracks here. The production feels uneven as can be expected for an album like this. It’s a shame the band doesn’t have a musical leader that can help the group maintain their identity Across separate production teams. What they did to IOY is nothing short of war crime. Also fucking hell Come Tomorrow isn’t just bad it’s boring. |

Come Tomorrow feels a lot like a long overdue last gasp after being hooked up to a ventilator for 17 fucking years. Goodbye, DMB. Thanks for the three good albums. |
Re: Rate the Album
I’ll say — the album works more when you strip away some of the filler and stick to the songs that stick to the lyrical theme that drives most the album.
This makes more sense as a cohesive album. The old songs seemed to interrupt and distract from the actual album.. Samurai Cop Here On Out That Girl Is You She Virginia In the Rain Again and Again Black & Blue Bird Come On Come On Do You Remember When I’m Wesry ——BONUS——— Can’t Stop Idea of You Bismarck Shotgun Sugar Will Break Free #40 Seems like a good final album/message with the bonus songs as sort of a thank you gift to the core fans. |
Re: Rate the Album
Way to early to rate this album. You have to let these things simmer.
You don't rate sex until after its over right? Not immediately after you get their clothes off. |

Re: Rate the Album
Solid 7 whilst only on 3rd listen.
I think I rated AFTW and BW 8 in the first few weeks would probably only rate as 7's at best now, lets hope this one doesn't wear thin as quickly |
Re: Rate the Album
dos.
plateau progression from ATW or the follow-up to Stand-up. |
Re: Rate the Album
I gave it a 4, disappointed with the new album. I feel a lot of the songs are going to be better with Tim & Dave then the ful band. I feel many of the slow songs will becoming bathroom break songs, because they don't have the strength of songs like (all back you up, typical situation or pay for what you get.) Very somber, melodic and chill album this album gives me the impression it's could be their last. The final song when I'm weary feels like a bitter sweet end to the band. I feel the album lacked quality lyrics and without Carter other instruments kinda felt cheesy like Dave was playing a solo album with computer filled instruments. I would rate this album higher had it been a solo project, but since the band had 5 years since the last album and it's lack of creativity using songs played over a decade ago just seemed to be lazy album fillers as well, as out of place on the album. I hate to say it but this would be rated as the lowest of all albums the band has put out to date.

Re: Rate the Album
After a few listens of the new album, my initial reaction:
What a tremendous step back in the quality of lyrics. It feels more like a Dave solo album than a DMB album. Lacks any notable/memorable contributions from the horns. Some really cheesy moments musically, lyrically, and with the production. If this is all they have left to offer after 6 years, I sincerely hope they hang it up. It's gonna be a 4 for me. 1) Before These Crowded Streets 2) Under The Table and Dreaming 3) Crash 4) Busted Stuff 5) Away From The World 6) Everyday 7) Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King 8) Come Tomorrow 9) Stand Up |
