Re: The NHL Thread

In my opinion, I think the majority of NHL players "get it", but what is really holding the league back is the good ole canadian boys' club. Everyone is right, the NHL is diverse because of all the Canadian and European players, especially at the star level. The NHL, and really hockey in general is also very inclusive, so that's a problem right there a well.

I may be ignorant, but I don't understand what the NHL achieves by postponing today and tomorrow outside of it just being a gesture. I'm not against it, I just don't feel it's going to make much of a difference.

But hey, I'm glad it prevents the Flyers from having to play back-to-back days and giving Carter Hart a little bit of rest. Could be a huge factor.

What do any of the major sports achieve by postponing besides taking a stand and letting their fan base know that they stand in solidarity with each other and that change needs to occur. I think it is even more important for hockey to take a stand so that the minority players in the league know that their feelings are heard and respected.

Not very much in my opinion - specifically hockey. I get the societal issue but it would be nice NOT to pull this in the SCF and perhaps pulling in new fans (like the NFL.) Plus, I just it just plain cannot stand politics injected into professional sports leagues, sports are a welcome kickback to relax on the couch. Many of us are stuck indoors avoiding gatherings due to COVID - NHL is a great diversion from this insane world and I would like to see them play if it is safe as it has been thus far.

late to comment on this, but... Mike Milbury was just awful in general. If anything, NBCS should have canned him a lot sooner.

He has been irritating hockey fans for ages now.

Fuck Boston.

Fuck Nick Ritchie.

Fuck Marchand.

Go Bolts.

I mean I hate Marchand but I’m going to be nicer to him for at least a week because he came out with some great messages about what’s going on

Flyers offense has been absolutely embarrassing. They need a spark somewhere. I wonder if Lindblom is close.

I think it was Hayes or someone else on a podcast said it would take a deep run to potentially see him.

Carchidi tweeted this morning that Lindblom could be ready by September, but that was probably speculation. We'll see. But he would definitely boost them if the team is still in the playoffs.

I wish Patrick was healthy too, but his migraine issues suck and I don’t even him at all.

The Flyers need to switch things up tonight. I think Coots OMGCG and TK need to be the first line.

Lindblom skated in warmups but will not be in the lineup. That's a good sign though. I think we do see him by Game 5, especially if today doesn't go well.

Elliott also starting for the Flyers. Actually not shocked by this. Should light a fire under their asses because they won't rely on Hart to bail them out, plus give the kid a rest day.

I can't believe the Stars are dad dicking the Avs.

Provided tomorrow goes poorly for Colorado, this would be among the worst teams they've lost to in the postseason, imo

Definitely looks like the Aves took a step backwards this year. That said, Dallas has been surprisingly stingy this postseason.

Flyers are an absolute joke. Not sure why I ever expect them to do anything but what I’m seeing right now.

They just can’t put the net in the back of the net. They make so many bad turnovers that almost always seem to turn into high percentage chances and goals for the Islanders

Edit: they put one in the back of the net

those last 55 seconds after scoring the 2nd goal were just a cluster for Philly.

Yup. Provorov has been abysmal and our “stars” might as well be in outer space.

It’s the same trash every year. Absolutely laughable organization. I just don’t know why I bother anymore.

I don't know who you are watching if you think Provorov has been absysmal. Give me some of that Niskanen hate and I am with you

If the Flyers don't win I hope the Lightning do so we can hear the hot takes about Brayden Coburn

I think I’m watching the guy who indirectly allowed goals in each of the last two games. Niskanen has been awful since the return.

Fully expect Giroux and Voracek to be traded and immediately win Cups. It’s what we do best.

I dunno what happened, but the Stars are just that team that seems to have them figured out

Nine meetings between them this year counting the regular season, the four playoff games so far and the round robin game. Dallas has won 7/9
