Not surprising considering the lack of production the last two years. The Hawks still have Kane and Toews so there is really no excuse to be that bad.

Which coach gets fired next for Q to take over?

Ottawa?
St. Louis?
LA?
Detroit?
Florida?

You'd think he had earned a bit of a rebuild though.

While it's not entirely Blashill's fault in Detroit, I'd do it right now.

This is kind of my thinking too. I mean we aren’t that far removed from the most recent Hawks Cup, or the first one really even for that matter. Not to mention the one in the middle. Seems like a quick trigger after not even two bad seasons yet.

I think the days of loyalty like that are over in sports for the most part. I mean, the Yankees fired Joe Girardi after making game 7 of the ALCS last year....

I agree that the 3 cups gave him some room, but they have not been great for the past 2 seasons and already started to flounder this year. How long can you give him when you still have Toews and Kane.

Pittsburgh looked like their time was up 4-5 years ago and that Crosby and Malkin would only produce one cup. The Pens changed things up, brought in some key pieces and rattled off back-to-back championships. I am sure the Hawks are looking at trying to follow that model to get a little more from their duo before a rebuild happens.

I think a lot of those teams would pull the trigger just because its Q

I have a feeling Q will only be out of a job until he no longer wants to be out of a job.

Maybe the Seattle groups gets a hold of him? Gives him a break if he wants one, and a completely fresh start.

Perhaps. But that is a long wait only to be going to an expansion franchise that probably won’t be any good for a few years at minimum.

True, and who knows what he wants at this point. He may just straight up retire.

Not sure if this has been posted or discussed. Ouch. Pretty shitty of the driver.

:lol:lol Ottawa is a mess

Haula’s knee injury looks brutal, was stretchered off the ice.

The Caps aren’t exactly playing like champions at the moment. Two very good teams struggling going into tonight.

Yeah, seems like an over-reaction to me as well. in 2016-2017 when the Preds swept them out the Hawks just did not generate any offense in that series. The 201702018 season is tough to pin on Q also getting rid of Hjarlmasson and getting less production that usual from Keith and Seabrook made the blue line a lot less steady and once Crawford went down none of the goalies were able to mask the defensive deficiencies.

Right now they need guys other than Toews, Kane and Debrincat to get in on the scoring. They also really need to figure out special teams ASAP because their PK and PP both look lousy.

Dumb play by geno. Cant see that being suspension worthy though.

I think Malkin has to get some type of suspension, right? Who knows honestly. I hope TJ is ok.

The Caps gotta figure this defense thing out. They can’t break out of the zone with any consistency or authority at this point. And the excessive odd man rushes against. It’s rerrible to watch.

Re: The NHL Thread: featuring Gritty, the regular season mascot champ.

I guess TJ’s ok. Very glad to see the Penguins got nothing for their effort. Good.

Can’t wait to hear Crosby talk about hits to the head again. He sure had a lot to say about Wilson. Can’t wait to hear his thoughts this time.

Who knows with the wheel of justice. I’d give him a couple.

On second thought, 5 and the game was probably a bit much. It was such a quick and unassessable hit in real time, and yet they chose the nuclear option. We practically see guys brains leaking on the ice and they refuse to go beyond a double minor. How did this even come close to eclipsing those hits.
