Nice to see the Caps get 5 goals without Backstrom or Ovechkin in the lineup. Against a good team, no less.

Congrats to Mathieu Perreault on his first career hatty

shouldn't be long before someone comes in here and complains about how the Hawks lost to the hottest team in the league twice in a row while not having their two best players and 5 rookies.

Thank god the All-Star break is here.

Absolutely great game between the Pens and Blues. Fleury unreal in the Third and OT. Nothing like taking a 7 game winning streak into the break!

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I'm not gonna complain about tonight's loss as it should have been expected. However, I will add that this team needs a forward/center AND a D-man if they are going to be legitimate Cup contenders.

bonzo48280 01-24-2012 08:32 PM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I would say that they just need a D-Man. Both of the goals tonight were the result of our D-men screwing up, as a lot of the goals this year have been. We can get away without the extra forward, but we need the d-man

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

We are a d-man short. Trying to rely on Hammer and Leddy as the 2nd pairing just has not worked out. These guys need to play with a veteran. But team defense is definitely a problem. The forwards definitely have their own roles that aren't being accounted for in the defensive zone. Unfortunately every team in the Central is on fire right now. Thank God for the All Star break.

The Preds are playing excellent hockey. But even without Sharp and Toews the Hawks do have more firepower and the two best forwards on the ice in Hossa and Kane. Kane's little Savardian spin move on a semi-breakaway in the 2nd period (down 2 at the time) made me a bit sick. Not only does he pull that shit, he then fires a backhand wide! When he had a clear look at the goalie. That pissed me off.

The team didn't really play awful, but the Preds are so, so good defensively and opportunistic on offense. So you can't cough the puck up. Hawks did, many times.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Can anyone explain how the Maple Leafs can go 6 full periods vs the Islanders over the last 2 nights without going on the penalty kill. Islanders had not ONE PP in the 2 games. And last night's game was about as nasty a game as there has been in awhile. Stick work was insane. Back to back can still be a lot of fun, even when they few and far between.

Crazy how the refs swallowed the whistles.

Holy shit, 6-0 Habs at the midway point? I've seen football games this year that had less scoring in the first half.
