As for the current problem, Trotz needs to get out of Ovie's way a little bit. 15 minutes of ice in a playoff game isn't even close enough. That line has been really good. And yet all of a sudden they seem to have fallen out of favor a little bit.

Yeah, I'd wager he heads to the KHL at that point.

That Torts quote is gold. He's the best.

Maybe for the media, but I can't stand him as a coach. He's so lucky to have won a Cup. He didn't deserve it that year.

Ive always taken Ovie as someone who likes it over here.

I would think he tries to go somewhere else to win a cup. I think he will go to the KHL at some point but not until hes older

I swear if there was ever a horrible situation to where he's the head coach in Philly I would pitch immediately to cover as many Flyers games as possible because he would be a reporter's dream with his quotes.

People like him are a media dream. As a fan... yea, not so much.

This was an enjoyable backread. Thanks for the game melts, people melts, hate melts, 19! 19! 19! melts and everything in between.

Also disappointed that I fell asleep before the late game(s) overtimes. WTF was with an 8:30 local start for the Hawks/Preds game. Should have been 7:30 or 8 at the very latest. That was dumb.

Flyers stink.

This thread had an incredible night. Everything that makes it great all in a couple pages.

I hope the Guentzel-Crosby-Sheary line scores three more tonight so Brohan can continue to wax rhapsodically about their collective lack of body hair. (And so the Pens win. That'd be fun, too.)

Here's a good question to think about...

Who is more focused on the Pens (and their body hair) right now?

A. Washington CapiLOLS
B. Columbus Blue Jackets
C. Brohan Santana

Schmidt is the fucking man. Every team needs a player like him.

Crazy Alzner missed his first game last night in 7 years.

I would love Schmidt to play, but who does he replace? No way he bumps a healthy Alzner.

The only person Schmidt would bump would be Orpik. And Trotz would need ridiculous sized balls to make that move. But at this point I'm so over Orpik

I like Guentzel. He's very easy on the eyes. Those blue eyes are lit.

If I was 22 and liked cock I'd be all over him

He's already said he has no interest in playing past the ago of 40, that was a while ago but he has said it. He'll be 32 when next season starts, and he has four years left on his deal with the Caps. A 36 year old Ovechkin with no Cup still and all the disappointment that will bring, I could see him leaving and playing his last few years as a pro in Russia. They still adore him over there. He may be highly scrutinized here, and rightfully so, but he's a rockstar in Russia. I could see him being tempted for sure.

And I'll add that I've never really been convinced Ovie cares all that much about winning a Cup. Obviously he wants to and he's probably not thrilled that his team keeps blowing it in the playoffs, but I don't think his lifelong dream will be crushed if he retires without winning one.

All of this.

Ovechkin is very, very talented and a phenomenal hockey player but a winger isn't going to carry a team to a cup. I still think he gets a cup at some point with D.C. DC sports teams just need to get over this hump. Whatever it is.

Hell, Trump overcame the impossible. Why can't the Caps?

Trump overcame the impossible because Hillary ran her campaign like the Caps in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Contrary to popular belief by the Caps organization, there are more teams you will have to beat other than the Penguins to win the cup.

I've thought this for a while, once the Caps get past the 2nd round they'll probably win the cup. I feel like that's how It will go. Especially if the Hawks are out in the first round

This type of thinking doesn't work as well as you would think. I was relieved when the Hawks lost to LA. It didn't matter because the West was just way better than the east. The only eastern team that has shown any fight against the West in the last 7 years has been the Pens. For a while people thought highly of Boston too, but then the Hawks beat them.

Tell that to Patrick Kane, Martin St. Louis, Teemu Selanne and Jaromir Jagr. And not to mention Gordie Howe (that guy with the hat trick), Bobby Hull and Rocket Richard...:rolleyes

Trotz is gonna have to fix that. At least he owned it though.
