I said it was gonna come down to the back to back against Philly and Boston and looks like it.

Go Hawks.

Stamkos to have surgery to remove a blood clot on Monday. Recovery expected anywhere between 1-3 months. Damn shame, hopefully hasn't played his last game in Tampa.

Huge loss for Tampa.

Anyway, Rangers failed to clinch on back to back losses to Carolina and Buffalo. I am honestly embarrassed to be a Rangers fan sometimes. Maybe they will do me a favor and just lose out and miss the playoffs all together.

Yeesh, that is terrible news about Stamkos. The Leafs looked like one of the top 3 teams in the East and then they lose Stralman and Stamkos....ouch. The Caps' road to the SCF got potentially much easier. At this point I can't see anyone other than Pittsburgh or Washington making it through the East.

Hahaha wow. I guess all of the Stamkos to the Leafs rumors have seeped into my subconscious.

Wow. Terrible way for it to end in TB if it is indeed over. I personally think it is. Toronto, Montreal and the outside chance of Detroit. Never thought of them until McKenzie brought them up. With a move or two they could pull it off. Doubt it but made for some interesting thoughts on my part.

Friedman reporting Datsyuk might go back to Russia after this season. He's still under contract. Reasons are reportedly family but they were saying if he did Wings are stuck with the cap hit. For family reasons I can't be too upset but I hope they can figure out something. Can they suspend him? Buying out would good for just next season then the year after it doesn't.

Wow that's really disappointing about Stamkos. Gotta think that's it for him in Tampa. Absolutely crushing to their current playoff chances.

Matty, thoughts on the Wilson/Zadorov hit?

JRS1386 04-03-2016 06:17 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

Seems like a legit, hard hit. He didn't charge him and even glided into the hit instead motoring into Zadorov. He does get off his skates but it looks like it was after the hit. The biggest thing is that Zadorov had his head down and I think that is what made it worse. From first view it still looks like the contact is still in the chest.

JRS1386 04-03-2016 06:23 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

Another point though to go on the side against Wilson. He has a history of questionable, hard hits so that will play a factor. Another thing, while I mentioned that he glided into the hit I should point out its not like he went in soft or slow. He had full steam when he crushed Zadorov so essentially he charged him without his feet pumping. It was still a violent hit and he traveled quite far to make the hit, so yea essentially still a charge.

I haven't seen it, just heard about it. I'll check it out and offer my full analysis.

Those 6 goal leads are the most dangerous in hockey...

Re: The NHL Thread

Okay, I changed my mind. I actually want the Rangers to drop down into the WC spot in the Atlantic division. I would like our chances in a first round against Florida, and with Tampa injured I would fancy the Rangers winning that too. It would be our best chance at a return to the ECF. I don't think the Rangers would beat anyone in the MET right now.

Yeah, lucky break for Detroit or whoever ends up facing TB. I mean, it's such a shame for Stamkos and the Lightning, but changes a lot for the playoff picture.

I dunno, Stamkos was invisible in the first round last year and Tampa still found a way. Don't get me wrong, I like their opponents chances more but they found a way without him last year. If it is only a month, and they can escape round one...who knows. Now if he's done for the 3...I can't see them repeating as conference champs.

It really makes the Atlantic an easy rout to the 3rd round. The MET is insane right now. I would much rather avoid it the way the Rangers have been playing lately.

Right now I would say the way the Rangers are playing:

Against the MET in the playoffs:
Rangers v Pens -Pens win 4-1
Rangers v Caps - Caps win 4-0
Rangers v. Islanders - Islanders win 4-3
Rangers v. Flyers - Flyers win 4-3

Where as the Atlantic:
Rangers v. Panthers - Rangers win 4-3
Rangers v. Tampa -Rangers win 4-2
Rangers v. Detroit - Rangers win 4-3

Re: The NHL Thread

Closer than I hoped but I will take it. Congrats to Kane for getting his 100th point (hat trick and an assist) and Panarin had a good night as well with 3 assist and a goal. That game probably locks up the Calder for the Breadman and makes it almost impossible for anyone to catch Kane for the Art Ross and he is certainly the odds on favorite for the Hart Trophy too - though I could see a case being made for Gostisbehere to get the Hart since he rejuvenated a team that was in the gutter and put them into playoff contention. I agree Chicago took the foot off the gas for a while but a win is a win - you're welcome Phillie, just don't tank against the Pens later on.

Shame Hossa went down, hopefully nothing serious, want to see him get his 500th in the last 3 games. From what I am reading Crawford is making good progress in his rehab and Shaw should be back Tuesday against AZ.

Edited for clarity

Seabs is the man. The pass right after off the boards that lead to the goal was perfect too.
