Obviously not including all your favorite teams in this tally.

I'm terrified of playing the Kings.

Thanks! Yeah it's amazing how much trouble it is to get around with this stuff. Physical therapy starts May 16th so hope that helps. Would like to avoid surgery.

Rangers have looked dismal the last two games. Back to back shutouts, ouch

Also, Kings. Damn

Honestly I didn't watch, just saw the score. Really was basing my post on game 2 where the Pens looked great. Assumed it was more of the same

Can't believe the Flyers lost to this Rangers team. Just goes to show how far off they really are. Can't believe Holmgren still has a job.

kind of, the pens still looked really good but the rags were generating chances...in fact they out-shout the pens 2:1 last night, but just couldn't cash in

really? you can't believe it? the rangers were the better team, not only all season but in the playoffs too

Babcock, Roy and Cooper your Adams finalists. It could be any of the three and it wouldn't be a bad pick.

If the Flyers were better in the playoffs they probably would have won the series. However, the Rangers were a whopping two points better in the regular season, and considering how awful the Flyers were for the first 10 games or so, it's a wash.

My point is that if the Flyers couldn't beat this Rangers team, who really isn't very good, they are much further from being a contender than most realize.

Rangers were all over the board last night. At times they looked good, and others looked absolutely awful. MAF played really well.

I'm not trolling at all. I'm stating an opinion based upon the Rangers play this series and last.

Maybe if the Rangers didn't play six games in nine nights they would look a little bit better, IMO.

reason 1: finish off the flyers quicker, of course easier said than done

reason 2: the NHL had said it will not make special arrangments for teams that cannot "keep their own house in order"--meaning, MSG was not made available for normal playoff scheduling, as the NY Liberty (WNBA) and a Billy Joel concert forced the NHL's hand in making the schedule

so, it makes perfect sense to me

The Rangers scheduled a Billy Joel concert and WNBA game?

no, MSG did...but most cities around the league know to try to keep the weekends as clear as possible in the spring time, especially friday nights, and MSG didn't...rangers should have some say in this, no?

i mean, the knicks aren't in the playoffs, so scheduling MSG is no different than the consol or any other arena for that matter, and the pens were able to make it work

Billy Joel wasn't moving but a WNBA game couldn't be moved?

what i read was that they could've played the same night as the WNBA game (WNBA game is afternoon), as it only takes about 2.5 hours to change from basketball to hockey setup, but that means the 2 teams would have morning skate away from MSG, and the NHL doesn't like to do that

DMBzilla 05-06-2014 09:26 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

What do weekends have to do with it?

MSG is free tonight, and the Liberty game on 5/8 is at 11 am, meaning they could have easily had last night off, and then played tonight and Thursday night. The NHL scheduled them for last night and Wednesday based on television schedules, not conflicting events at MSG.

actually, both were contributing factors

couldn't play game 3 tonight, because consol energy center is booked on thrusday and i think for a couple saturdays

either way, arena availability was a huge factor in this round of scheduling
