There is this Sharks fan I follow on twitter and I remember just before the playoffs she was posting how Thornton and a bunch of them have better point per game averages than some others guys, Datsyuk was one I know but it doesn't really matter because the people she kept posting had Cups. Datsyuk has played in round 3 or beyond 4 times, and the Sharks have only been to the WCF's twice, going 1-8. A guy like Datsyuk, who was a rookie in 02 and did struggle from 03-06, has more Cups than Sharks have WCF game wins.

It's not a bad idea to make a push for Vanek, I agree. But I also agree with what Chris and you are getting at, that it's a mistake to throw big money at FA's in today's NHL. Build from within, baby. The Wild add big money with Vanek, combined with what they're paying Suter/Parise, and they are really going to handcuff themselves when it comes to signing up and comers like Granlund, Coyle, and Brodin, and Kuemper (all of whom make less than $1 mil right now). Even with the Cap going up, they will find it difficult.

One of the things I admire most about hockey players, no question.

:lol I really want to send this to a Sharks friend of mine, but I'm holding off to see how the Avs do in their game 7 so he doesn't have anything to throw back at me if they blow it too. :(

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Blowing a 3-1 lead last year was bad enough, although the Hawks were a much better team than the Wings, can't imagine blowing a 3-0 lead. And it's not like the Sharks are a bad team. They were throttling the Kings....just amazing.

At least you guys didn't have a 3-0 stranglehold on the Wild and blow it, I say send it to him lol.

True... and the Avs don't have the recent choke job history the Sharks do. The Avs have just plain sucked with zero expectations.

You've convinced me. Sending now.

Hoping no Wings can get injured between now and then.

I can't stand the Sharks, so it would be nice to see them completely blow the series. However, I dislike Jeff Carter so much and do no want him to be on another team that comes back 0-3.

There was a Lions player once that got hurt falling UP THE STAIRS. How do you do that? I guess they are seeing if Pavel needs surgery or not on his knee and will figure it out by the end of the week. Kinda hope they just do it. I always think, what if rest doesn't make it better?

If they don't win the cup at least they've brought in new fans. Which is awesome since they didn't even make it past round 1. I enjoy seeing the market expand. Rightfully deserved.

They just need to store every player in a padded room all summer.

Sounds like Wings might use their last buyout on Tootoo. Not surprised really and that would be cool of them. He can play a nice 4th line role still, just it didn't work out here. Wish it could have.

Toews, Getzlaf, and Brown for the Messier award. I can get behind that. Phenomenal young leaders. :thumbsup

As much as I agree with nominations like those, I really don't care for the Messier award.

I have a mirror in my bathroom. Rarely look in it though. I know I look good... don't need confirmation.

I do find it interesting that Messier gets to do it all. Pick the nominees and the winner.
