Yeah, I wasn't implying it was a suspendable hit and it clearly wasn't on purpose. I think they guy had like a couple of minors going into the game. Just another bad one. He might get a game but I seriously doubt it.

On an unrelated note, Oilers rookie Mark Arcobello has matched a feat that only Crosby and Kane have done in the past 50 (i think) years. 10 assists in first 10 NHL games. Kid is going to be a great player I think. Solid in all aspects of the game. Offensively contributing, winning face-offs, one of the leaders in hits and very sound coming back defensively.

In all the garbage that is the Oilers (again) this year, he is a bright spot for sure.

Can he play goal?

The 2-7 Flyers have sent their leading goal scorer back down to Adirondack. Is this real life Be A Pro Mode?

Toews' goal last night was the goal of the year so far.

Latest news out of Buffalol, they will only start 11 forwards tonight. Sadly this isn't the first time this has happened this season......

Go Sabres!

At this point it would be worth a shot.

A most improbable win in Pittsburgh tonight. Pitt carried the play all game and had all the offensive zone time but we hung in there and finally pounced on some opportunities in the 3rd.

PK was key and Nabby was 1st star.

Bailey goal was the moment of the year so far.

The Sabres won a game. I'm so confused.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Lets see, I have heard at least three NHL announcers say that the Rangers cannot start the season 2-7 and expect to make the playoffs. They play one more on the road before finally coming home and it is in Detroit. They are 2-6. I feel like if they lose today their season is dead before it even really got started.

I know NJ and Philly are in the same boat, but man it really sucks when it looks like your favorite team is out of it before you even get a chance to really watch any games. I can't really justify spending NY ticket prices to go see a team that is not relevant. I would rather spend the money it would take to go to 3-4 Rangers games in December toward going to a game in Canada again this year.

Lets go Rangers! I hope this sinking ship turns around.

Fuck those announcers, season is still young. Though NY sucks and won't make it anyway.

Anyone up on the junior scene? Just wondering who the oilers are going to grab at number one in the draft next year.

Isn't it a little too early in the season for you to be watching hockey?

Lecavalier has a hat trick tonight. That gives him seven points seven games (10 for the Flyers).

Toronto played a quality game with a pretty beat up team. Lupul, Bozak, Kulemin, Fraser, (Ashton playing with a broken nose).

4-1. Bolland put in two.

Cool to see Vinny pull that off :thumbsup. But I still side more with Chris on how his season will end up. Not wishing doom and gloom on him, just think he's not at that stage in his career anymore.

Still, very cool to see him get the hatty

Seriously, who takes a slapshot on a breakaway while shorthanded? Dave fuckin Bolland.

BREAKING: #Isles have traded Matt Moulson, their 2014 1st-round pick and a 2015 2nd-round pick to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Moulson is a UFA at the end of the season too so if he doesn't work out for Sabres, they could flip him at the deadline.

Roose13 10-27-2013 05:47 PM

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Sabres got a good return regardless of that fact, Crash. Not a bad theory either that they could flip him for more value.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Isles gave up way too much. Awesome to have Vanek, but we gave up a 30 goal scorer, and 1st and 2nd round pick for a guy who's going to play 60 games with the team. Vaniek is an upgrade of Moulson but offense wasn't the issue here. Sure the offense got better and I guess you could say the 1st line of forwards have someone who is a little more responsible in the defensive zone.....but we need actual NHL defensemen.

Isles aren't winning the cup this year, this is a deal you make when you're close to being a cup contender.

Makes us better for this year but if we do not sign him, this deal stinks. But drafts picks are crapshoots and we have plenty in the pipeline currently.

Feel bad for Moulson, who just had a baby last week and JT, who loses his best friend and line mate. I doubt they consulted him but maybe they did to give him the heads up.

Great return for Vanek, wow. Haven't said this much, but well done Regier.

Poor Moulson. Good guy who now gets the distinct privilege of playing with Ott and Kaleta.

Edit: +\- on how long it takes Tyler Myers to invite Moulson to his knitting club?

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Poor Mouslon.........

Gives Buffalo 9 picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the next two drafts and I believe 17 if you go back and include the past 2 or 3 seasons.

......and look how well that has worked......

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

The more I think about the more I'm liking it. I like that it makes us better for this year. I like that it sends the message of "we are done rebuilding and we are out to win games and move up in the standings and use the assets we have to do so" that Snow has done here.

On July 1st, , I might feel different but I also learned he had to waive his no trade clause to come here so he had to happy and willing to come here. He could have waited and go to a better team near the deadline. To get a guy this early in the season, we had to overpay a little.

As for Moulson, this is the shitty part of sports. I felt bad for him last night but really felt bad after seeing his quote this morning. He's a really good guy and JT was godfather to his first kid. And he just had his second about 2 weeks ago and now he has leave them. Luckily, Buffalo not too far. :snot:snot

"It's sad to leave people you care about and love behind. I think over the years I've shown my want to be a part of the organization and turning around the team into being successful. I guess, obviously, in the long run, they didn't feel the same. ... I guess this is what happens in pro sports. I gotta move on. Obviously, I'll miss everyone, but this will be a new chapter." - Matt Moulson

" I guess, obviously, in the long run, they didn't feel the same." Ouch. Obviously stung him pretty bad. Too bad he's gotta go to probably the worst team in the league. It would be better if he was going somewhere warm but...nope.
