Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

This is the first to go past six in the last few years I believe.

EDIT: Looks like Bruins-Canucks was the last to go seven.

It has to be a blow to the Blues confidence to lose game 6...you have the Cup in the hallway waiting to be hoisted by you on home ice...but now you're back in Boston for a game 7.

That could be enough of a blow for them to lose

Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

Agreed. When Boston won Game 6, it was at home, and then won Game 7 in Vancouver. We got the famous Vancouver riots that year :lol

Wasn't there a couple doing it on the street in the middle of the riots?

I had to watch that series down on Cape Cod...you want to talk about a group of people who didn't care about Hockey. We had to ask the bars to turn the sound on and got nothing but eye rolls

Edit: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13807494 it was just a kiss not a smush

Ovechkin
Backstrom
Lars Eller
Tom Wilson
Braden Holtby

Sixth man out is Devante Smith Pelley but he’s not technically an active NHLer so I don’t know if he counts

Of course Armstrong’s gonna be annoyed about that. Why shouldn’t he be?

It looks like the finals expanded to seven games starting in 1939. So I think this will be the 80th finals with that format. This will be the 17th game 7. So seven games have been required just over 21% of the time.

So... who are your current favorite ACTIVE players?

Mine:
Landeskog
Parayko
Rantanen
Seth Jones
Mark Stone

If Makar keeps it up, he'll be on the list REAL soon.

Let's go with:

Claude Giroux
Carter Hart
Jaden Schwartz
Cam Atkinson
Roman Josi

Honorable to: Stone, Pietrangelo

You win the game at home on Sunday you don't have to worry about Boston ice on Tuesday

Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cupsets!

Duncan Keith
Patrick Kane
Sidney Crosby
Hank Lundqvist
Nathan MacKinnon

probably my 5 favorite players to watch, honorable mention to Nik Hjalmarsson but the poor guy is languishing in AZ on a mediocre team and he is aging so he dets diminished ice time.

If this was a top ten than Tarasenko, Gaudreau, Ovechkin, Seabrook and Quick would round out my list. Retired guys, forget it, I could go on forever! :lol

So much yes to Josi. Maybe the most underrated d-man in the league right now.

How often do they even get to a game 7? I can't remember many of them. 2011 Bruins comes to mind

Looks like this is the 16th game 7 in a Final.
