Hopefully they put up a good fight tomorrow against Washington. I think Kuzy is out too.

Still iffy for playoffs. Florida loss today was helpful.

Probably a little knee-jerk reaction by me but I think the top PP unit would be better with Patrick back on it than Simmer

Re: The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

I think the emergence of Patrick on PP1 almost guarantees that Simmonds is gone in the off-season.

Jets cannot get a break in the injury department but amazingly enough every time a player goes down they find someone to step up. It is impressive.

It's gonna be a great day when Ovi retires for the rest of the Metro.

For a team lacking scoring depth that would be idiotic.

Just stopped by to say Mikko Rantanen is tied with Sidney Crosby with 77 points.

Thanks, Flyers. Now just make the playoffs.

Re: The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

Debrincat gets his third hat trick in his rookie season and the Hawks end up giving up the tying goal with just over a minute left and then blow it in OT. OGH.

Pietrangelo kills the Hawks but damn is he a good player whom I respect despite his Hawk killing abilities.

That boarding non call on Schenn when he boarded Highmore and never returned. Dirty pool.

The crew showed Tarasenko (day to day) sitting in the Blues area drinking beer, I got a good laugh out of that one! :)

Debrincat getting his 3rd hat trick was very cool. I rarely get to sit and watch a hockey game on tv, let alone two and they were both great games. Can’t wait for the playoffs.

No, it wouldn't. Do you really want to spend $5+ mil for at least 5 years on a power forward?

Don't get me wrong, I love Simmonds. He's been amazing here since day 1. But I'm not getting into another Hartnell contract here--especially with Patrick, TK, and Provorov looking at new contracts in the next few years.

Plus, if we trade him this off-season, we'll get a good return.

Wow the two old dudes for the fantasy hockey championship. I've never finished above 3rd, and that was last year. Bring it on, Matty.

Kinda wild that after 72 games the only thing that separates the Pens and Caps is two loser points.

Early fantasy exit, at least it wasn't first round. Man do I wish I didn't lose the guys to injury that I did.

It’s going to a fun finish! While it’d be great for the Pens to win the Metro, the Devils or Jackets would be a tough first round opponent. Of course, the Panthers could still sneak in there. And who wouldn’t love a Pens-Flyers first round matchup! :lol

Good weekend for the Flyers. Florida's 4 games in hand have me worried though. Flyers need to beat Wings and Rangers this week....

It's gonna be fun! Our league is so deep that I feel like I've had to cobble together a roster after missing much of the draft, but they've done well.

Thanks to whoever dropped Schiefle before getting eliminated; I was able to pick him up for this final week (now watch him suck) :lol

You're welcome.

I dropped him as soon as I saw he hurt his shoulder again. I was desperate at the point because I had lost McAvoy and Boesser the night before.

If he continues like he did before he got hurt you'll be in great shape. I wasn't sure if this was a keeper league, didn't seem like it so I took the chance of picking him back up if I made it another round.

Well it didn't work out well :lol

He is pretty slick with the puck for a guy who was 19 about 2 months ago. Hawks season is cooked so I think trading Hartman, Wingels and Kempny plus waiving Bouma (and shopping Anisimov) is dedicated to free up cap space to give extensions to DeBrincat and Schmaltz.

Trading Panik for DuClair was a nice coup. It is sort of a transitional year for Chicago so getting ice time for guys like Kampf, Hinestroza, Dahlstrom and Hayden is smart. I think the core players (Kane, Toews, Keith and Seabrook) have a few more runs in them with all this new talent inserted. An extra two months off sucks but could help the 'older' guys. I think the big question is whether Hossa is able to play next season and what is going on with Crawford, if Crow cannot play next year they have no number 1 goalie and their backups are subpar so hopefully they can pick a goalie up and the ice time logged by the younger members of the defense should help. It will be strange not seeing them in the playoffs but hopefully that translates to being more hungry next season - maybe they will stop handing away games where they strike first and then sit back and try to just play D rather than keep pounding away on O.

Wasn't it you who said there was no chance in hell they'd miss the playoffs about a month ago? Not being an ass, just cannot recall and I think it might have been you.

Yeah, they had an off season for sure (was not terrible until Crawford went down) but they have brought in some nice young pieces for next year and should come out ready to play and make it into the playoffs - assuming Crawford gets getter or they sign a decent goalie because Forsberg, Glass and Berube are not all that great. Maybe Forsberg learns from this and gets better but they way he plays has me skeptical of his abilities, he just lets in too many soft goals for even a backup.
