The east is going to be a bear for any team to navigate this year because so many teams could win the conference if they get on a roll, this should make for some very interesting action down the stretch as teams jockey for the best possible matchups in the first round. TB is the favorite IMO but lately they have shown that they are beatable. Caps are as dangerous as any team in the NHL when they are on, just a question of who they match up with in the playoffs and if they can finally get the Penguins monkey off their back. Boston is about as deep as they have been in nearly a decade. If Phillly plays up to their capabilities they could beat anyone but I would consider them a dark horse pick. Toronto is capable of making some waves but I don't think they are quite there just yet maybe not being a seasoned playoff team works to their advantage if they are not intimidated and perhaps the pressure will cause them problems. Devils could win a series if they are clicking and get good goaltending but I do not see a deep run. Truthfully though, if I was a betting person I would have to say the road to the final will still have to go through Pittsburgh and in the playoffs they are as dangerous as any team in the league. I can see more than usual 7 game series's in the east which could leave the winner gassed heading into the final against a more rested team from the west - which admittedly is pretty stacked too with the Jets, LA, Vegas, Nashville, Minnesota, San Jose and if they can escape the spiral they have fallen in I could see St. Louis making a deep run. I know the Hawks and Rags are not making the playoffs so I do not currently have a team I hope wins but that will all change when the dance starts, regardless this should be a damn fun playoff year with some really good teams.

nevermind first ever playoff game, they're a serious contender to win the west I think.

I agree to an extent but that all depends on who they face in the playoffs. I via them much like Toronto, inexperienced in playoff hockey which could either be an advantage or disadvantage. A first round matchup with say Nashville or St. Louis could have them 1 and done if they are not on top of their game. Sure, U can see them making a run but I think there are deeper and more experienced teams in the west that could blow them out fairly easily.

St. Louis isn't even in the playoff picture anymore.

I am aware of that but they could easily go on a roll and get in. Then they are very dangerous on offense and if Allen can get back to form they will present a challenge to anyone they face.

PIT really needs Murray to be ok for the playoffs

But this Bruins / Penguins game is crazy though

Cam Ward making some ridiculous saves this game. Very well could be a 3-2 game.

Hopefully Murray is ok. I’m sure the Penns will find a way to win the SC w/o him though

Side note, I think the Penguins have won 2 SC’s since we called them the ‘Penns’ ITT

The Pens have won all Cups awarded since that started. Partially why I gave it up.

Penguins and Hawks looked awful last night against teams they should be competitive against.

Marchand is the biggest waste of talent in the league. He is such an ass I cannot cheer for a team he is on and find myself hoping someone flattens him with a good clean check. Weirdo.

Pens always have games like that. DeSmith shouldnt have started. Nothing to worry about. Happened against the Wings early in the year.

Youd think the Bruins won the cup the way their fans were reacting on twitter last night.

Marchand has no reason to act like the POS he does. Way too talented.

My bad, have only had a sip of coffee so far today. Meant to say waste of space, I know he is talented he is just such an ass I could never cheer for a team he is on.

Everyone wishes they had a Marchand on their team. Does he go over the line sometimes? sure but that is the give and take. When he tried to dial it back a few seasons ago his performance dipped. I like him playing on/over the line.

pretty sure Marchand is not wasting his talent

Getting suspended for dirty hits 6x is a little more than "sometimes". And we know with the way the NHL handles punishments it probably should be more like 10-12x.

Saying he cant play well without being dirty is a crap statement. Pretty much every other star player can do it across the league.

Just say he’s dirty and you don’t like it. At least that makes sense. He’s not a waste of space or talent.

Problem is that the Pens only make it to game 4 when they meet in the playoffs.

I would not want him on my team, frankly he is a liability. He more crap he pulls the more his team-mates get the payback due to him.
