As long as we get a top 3 pick, I'll be happy. But something must have happened between January, when Scott and Fletcher said they were going to have an aggressive re-tool, to the past week where they seemed ready to clear enough cap for Johnny to come home and then signed a 4th liner to a four-year deal and brought Braun back.

This is the worst thing about the whole day. Fletcher made all of these moves and there is a distinct possibility that he'll be out of this job by December.



I see the Flyers coming out of the gate really slow, end up in the bottom of the standings by Thanksgiving and the organization will fire Fletcher, putting the team back to square one in terms of coming up with a direction/identity.



All of these moves from the trade deadline to today should have been made by someone else. Fletcher has pretty much been a dead man walking since the Giroux trade and today didn't do him any favors.

Character and attitude issues aside, Fletcher pretty much confirmed today that TDA is pretty much sliding into Ryan Ellis' slot. Tony D might be good offensively but his defensive metrics aren't good, and he's certainly not a first d-pairing. I don't think he's averaged 20 minutes in his career yet.


I also find it suspect that Carolina had no problem letting him walk despite having him on a pairing with Slavin last season.

Finally finished the documentary last night.

Interesting you left with slightly less hatred for the Wings. It brought back all sorts of anger for me, lol!! I still hate Scotty Bowman. Seriously fuck that guy. I always kinda liked McCarty and hated that he was on the Wings. I think he comes across well in the documentary. Good on him and Claude for getting together like that. Pretty cool. I still think Draper is a little bitch, too.

Most of these long term deals are somewhat relying/hoping on the cap going up and/or short-term solutions to get AAV down.

I feel like the vast majority of contracts in the NFL and NHL these days are "Fuck it, we'll deal with the back end when we have to".

I covered the 2011 AHL Outdoor Classic the year the Rangers were in Philly to play the Flyers at CPB. Phantoms played the Bears. Super cool experience.

Chiming in late, but I went to Avs and Red Wings at Coors Field and had a great time (even if the Red Wings won, grumble, mutter)

I sat in the upper deck, but I think those wound up being the better seats, imo. The seats aren't as steep at Coors Field as they would be at Ball Arena, so the first tier at a ballpark had more of a straight-on view than sitting in the upper deck

So I'm saying if you have nosebleeds, it might work out for you

the avs have had slow starts the last 2 years. it just takes them a couple weeks to start firing on all cylinders after they've had an extended time off (start of season and covid breaks). they'll be fine.

rough game for the avs in calgary. they seemed tired after having to play the night before. rantanen missed a wide open shot on a PP that would have tied the game. instead calgary goes on a breakaway right at the end of the penalty to score. changed the entire game. frankie got hung out to dry all game. 2 on 1 shorthanded goal, the breakaway, and 2 powerplay goals. can't do much when you don't have a defense in front of you.
