Anyone who is not interested in playing this year, let me know asap. I set the draft as a tentative time for Tuesday Oct. 1st at 7:30pm (EST). Let's throw out some times that work for people, see if we can get a good time for everyone.

probably...what's the effect though? like, how many guys racked up 10 fighting majors in the NHL last season? couldn't have been very many

Just checked Hockeyfights.com, and it looks like the most last year was 6, which about a dozen players reached.

That surprises me, frankly. I knew fights were down, but SIX being the high number? Wow. Numbers like that suggest that they don't even need this mentality to creep into the NHL - it's already there.

Having an ECHL team in town, I can say with some certainty that there's more at these lower levels. There's probably at least 2 fights in every game I go to.

Reading and hearing about how pissed off the people that own and operate the Washington Redskins were when the Caps won the Cup is like a fucking drug to me. Growing up (when all the DC teams sucked and there was no baseball team) the Redskins always got to be the big shots because everyone was so bad that the default football team got to be the darlings, and that always annoyed me, as they did indeed suck, just like the Caps did. But everyone still seemed to love them unwaveringly.

Now, 20-25 years later, to read that Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen are so jealous of the Capitals, and that they begrudgingly congratulated the Caps publicly while privately being infuriated about it is like music to my ears.

Rantanen signs! And at a pretty reasonable (considering comps) $9.5/6 years.

That means that between MacKinnon and Rantanen the Avs have one of the best offensive duos in the league locked up at $15.5 million for the next 4 years.

I always thought a cool fantasy format: Do an offline draft. You bid real money on what team you want, set some sort of minimum, like $10. Total pot at the end once everyone has a team becomes the $$$ for payouts. So you have to manage your roster based on what the your drafted team does. Can't have other players from other teams.

I wanna reprise a league a bunch of friends and I did several years ago. Shame it won't work in today's style of the league. A goon fantasy league where the only scoring is PIMs and hits. So fucking fun.
