As we get to the home stretch, so weird to be rooting against Eastern teams. I saw the score of the SJ game and thought "damn the Sharks won" and then was like oh yeah I don't care if they win or not.

There was also a report earlier this week, or last week, about Seattle getting close. Wonder if there is more truth to these than I had originally thought. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Miller and ott to blues for halak, stewart and others
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Fuck I have Halak
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Knew it. Made too much sense. I have Miller and he was doing well for me. Will be better now. Now the Sabres need to get Halak signed. Good luck with that.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Holy fuck.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Blues just made the West interesting, well more interesting.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Miller and Ott for Stewart, Halak, William Carrier, a 2015 first and a conditional 2016 third.
|
Blues going all in, they're going to be scary come playoff time

Edit: I jut don't see a rebuilding club like the Sabres signing a veteran-ish goalie with a reasonably high price tag going into free agency when they've got 2 young guys who are much cheaper. Thrifty is the name of the game for the Sabres right now. Give the kids a chance to grow for the next couple seasons while expectations are low. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
I can't see Halak being here in Buffalo after next Wednesday. He certainly won't be resigned.
Stewart has been linked to Ottawa for a while and now that Murray has traded for him those rumors have blown up. |

They'll flip Halak to the Flyers for Emery and Voracek and then holmgren will sign Halak to a 5 year extension.
|
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
If I just heard Murray right, the 2016 3rd round conditional pick rides on Miller resigning in St. Louis. If he resigns Buffalo gets a 2014 1st.
edit: yes I did, he just re-stated it. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Official conditions are Miller re-signing or St. Louis making it to the Western Conference Finals.
Let's go Blues! |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Happy for Miller getting on a legit contender. Will be rooting for the Blues after the Avs are eliminated.
|
I'm loving the Blues back up goaltender tonight.

From 2011-next year's draft, not counting what they might get from now until the deadline.....
2011: #16 Armia, (No 2nd rounder) 2012: #12 Grigorenko #14 Girgensons #44 McCabe 2013: #8 Ristolainen #16 Zadarov #35 Compher #38 Hurley #52 Bailey #57 Carrier *acquired from St. Louis* 2014: Own 1st Possible Isles 1st UNLESS DEFERRED TO 2015 Possible St. Louis 1st Own 2nd LA's 2nd (Regehr deal) Minnesota's 2nd (Pominville deal) 2015: Own 1st St Louis 1st Possible Deferred 1st from Isles Own 2nd LA's 2nd (Regehr deal) Minnesota's 2nd (Pominville deal) |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Geez, when all is said and done, the Sabres might be the only team that shows up to the draft. :lol

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Glad to see Miller get moved and I am happy for my Sabre friends (I've got several in my long time fantasy hockey league) for them to advance the rebuild.
Annoyed my brother's team, who is my number 1 nemesis in said fantasy league as we gone back and forth as 1-2 in our division, just got stronger as he has Miller. Isles will definitely defer that 1st rounder to 2015. Pumped for a ton of afternoon hockey today. Coaching my 8 year old in a doubleheader in basketball today and we should be done in time for a get in front of the TV for 1pm. This way, it frees my Saturday night up for a movie or more House of Cards with the wife. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Rumors have the Wings interested in Kesler. I just don't see,as I said before, where he fits. When everyone is healthy he'd probably be the RW on the 3rd line, maybe on the 2nd depending on they wanted to do it. And I sure wouldn't give up Tatar or Nyquist or even Jurco for him. Edler is another story. Depending on the price, makes total sense for them.
I think I'm taking Wednesday off now, if my boss ok's it. I'll be watching a lot of it at work anyways so.... Spring break so no one will be around, so should be a good day to take off. |

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Update on the conditional pick in the Buffalo/St. Louis trade:
So if Miller re-signs or Blues make WCF, it breaks down as this: Blues get: Miller Ott 2014 2nd round (MIN) 2014 3rd round (BUF) Sabres get: Halak Stewart Carrier 2014 1st round (STL) 2015 1st round (STL) If Miller does not re-sign and the Blues do not make the WCF: Blues get: Miller Ott Sabres get: Halak Stewart Carrier 2015 1st round (STL) 2016 3rd round (STL) This still doesn't answer the question of what happens if Miller re-signs with St Louis after the draft. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
HBO should be filming Buffalo.... Now front office drama is hitting the fan.
@TSNBobMcKenzie: Rumors abound of a potential shakeup in the executive suite of Buffalo Sabres. I've asked the principals for comment. No response thus far. @FriedgeHNIC: Something is up with Pat LaFontaine and the Buffalo Sabres. |

Also big win for the Flyers. Huge two points for them after their stinker of a game against San Jose. I think Jonathan Toews' actions at practice last night solidified my feelings about him. The guy is all class and is definitely a future Hall of Famer. The guy doesn't get enough credit. If you guys missed it, he had a private skate with a five year old for the Make A Wish foundation. |

Renaud Lavoie @LavoieRenaud 1m
The last straw was the Ryan Miller trade. Pat Lafontaine was pushing to give Miller an extension. Tim Murray was pushing for a trade. I'm glad Murray won. |

Darren Dreger
@DarrenDreger Some close to the Sabres says there was no power struggle, Lafontaine wanted to get back to New York and the working for NHL. Hmmmmm. |

I haven't back read the entire convo but I think the winter classic and all the stadium series games are a great spectacle. Perhaps they have too many this year but I love them and hope they stick around for years to come.

Nice to see at least Rask showing up in the game. Classic Bruins playing like crap right around the trade deadline.

tough but important week for CBJ tonight @ TOR tomorrow vs DAL thursday @ CHI saturday @ NSH do you see at least three wins there? I don't. :shrug |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
Quote:
Three wins? I dunno. Nashville and TO are possible. Chicago and Dallas are possible. It's not the NBA, the top teams don't win every night. But saying that, CBJ could lose to the Leafs just as easily. They gotta get that first one. I'm in a weird spot. A Jackets win gets them to within a point of the Wings but it also keeps the Wings 4 points behind the Leafs and with THREE games in hand. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread
When in doubt, root for the jackets. We need it.
Agree, tonight is the most important.. |
Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

So of that list, who do we think for sure gets traded? Vanek and Moulson I think are for sure goners. Would be stupid, especially for Vanek, to not get traded. Andrew MacDonald and Legwand would be my other two. Not sure about some of those names. Hemsky is rumored every year at this time. |
