What Kind of Headphones Do you Use for DMB and Other Favorite Artisits?
 

I just got a pair of the Beats Studio 3 cans and am in love. I tried a few other ones in the past, but none have fulfilled my needs like these.

I rotate among these, depending on where am I:

• FiiO F9 Pro in ears (just amazing) - when I move around
• Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 Ohm (Carter’s Headphones) - closed [emoji442]
• Sennheiser HD 660 S- 150 Ohm (Open [emoji442])

and, about DACs
• Audioquest A960 Dragonfly RED Converter D/A (the best)
• Audiolab Bluetooth portable DAC (the best on-the-go)

Most of the time, I attach everything to my iPhone, and that’s it.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure an open air headphone is the starting point for the best fidelity and feel. I believe Grado makes an in ear noise cancelling one, though I haven't looked I awhile and I know you're not looking for in ear. But if anyone is gonna make in ears that sound glorious, it's Grado.

I can't say enough about Grado overall. Their headphones blow my mind.

They're fantastic for at home listening in a quiet room in solitude. Certainly they have fantastic sound!

Couldn't get these to stay in my ears so switched to Powerbeats Pro, far superior to Beats 3 which I had before.

Philips Fidelio X2s - run them through an Adcom GFP-555. Amazing, every damn time :)

Beats are $10 chinese headphones with $200 worth of branding and literally have metal weights shoved in there to make them feel high quality.

Xcacel, you love your Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 Ohm? I am thinking of making that my next purchase. Need something a step up for my closed back headphone. Yes, I dig my ATH-M50Xs but they are pretty worn/uncomfortable and I'm looking for something a couple steps up.

I had the AudioTechnica ATH-M50x before, and I also found those pretty uncomfortable. So, when I saw Carter & Dave on the WH, in November, I realized that Carter was wearing the Beyerdynamic, and I started being curious.
Finally I got them (they are not so expensive, at the end), and I am super happy: sound quality is amazing (I love their deep sound, all around you.. even more than the Sennheiser) and they are very comfortable. The only thing is that they warm you a little bit, after a while (2 hours). They are very solid (unlike the Sennheiser) and I also love the design.
Just another level compared to the bulky, cheap, plastic-made AudioTechnica.
There was a reason why Carter choose them [emoji772][emoji442]
