Not really sure I want to beat the Icelanders in the next game. Florida seems like a nicer first round over the Pens who have won seven straight and are looking pretty insane right now...

Re: The NHL Thread
Looks like there were some questionable hits in Rangers/Lightening game. Tanner Glass and Brian Boyle both given game misconducts.
Glass: https://twitter.com/nhlonnbcsports/s...05830954737664 Boyle: http://youtu.be/dP5eit2kkDA They were both blindside hits, I can see suspension for Glass but not Boyle. Don't think intent was there for Boyle but still a dangerous play. Can't find a different angle on the Glass hit but it looks like it could be shoulder to shoulder hit. |
Re: The NHL Thread
Thanks Canes. Wings win in regulation against the Bruins tomorrow and they are in. Regardless of what happens tonight or against the Rangers on Saturday. I'd prefer a win tonight, since it's their last home game and then their chances are increased a lot.

Re: The NHL Thread
I was at a bar for the game and missed the Boyle hit. After watching, it was clearly not as bad as the Glass hit. Still never good to see someone driven into the boards like that though.
The Glass hit was shitty and he should probably sit for a few games to think about it. |

Re: The NHL Thread
Hawks making another nice statement to remind the league that they are still the team to beat. No Crawford, no Hossa, no Shaw and no Keith yet they played a complete team game last night while clobbering the Coyotes. PK was 6 for 6 and the power play was 3 for 6. Ladd nets a pair, Toews gets a shorthanded goal, Kane gets a power play goal, Desjardins nets one in the third and Panik opened the scoring. Panarin gets 3 assists, Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, Kruger, Rozsival and TVR all got an assist as well. Big game when the Blues come into Chicago tomorrow, hopefully they can continue to light that lamp a lot and maybe get Hossa, Anisimov or Shaw back to help too. A good upset of Dallas by the Avs would be nice tomorrow too! Seeding is going to go down to the wire in the central.
Also, pretty sure last night sealed up the Calder for Panarin and the Art Ross for Kane. 2 more solid games by Kane and I think he will get the Hart too. :) |
Re: The NHL Thread
The West is so weird right now. LA not playing well, Ducks lose to the Jets? Wild don't want to make the playoffs but are and now the Hawks who were struggling are playing better.

Re: The NHL Thread
So weird in sports when that stuff happens. You expect a team to falter and they don't. Malkin with the Pens is the same way.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
love the resilience of the Penguins right now. however, if last night's game reinforced anything it's that we need a healthy Fleury for any kind of deep playoff run
i like Matt Murray, but he's still vulnerable |
Re: The NHL Thread

Flyers did much dirtier things and got away with them. NHL needs WAY more consistency and stricter enforcement across the board |
Re: The NHL Thread
are you talking about Sunday's game? Cause other than the Wayne Simmonds incident, I'd say both teams were on the same level as being dirty.
|
Re: The NHL Thread

and it was Wayne Simmonds being dirty more than once, including clear intent to injure Murray |

Flyers players being dirty?
I'm shocked Pens fans crying about it? Now I'm really shocked |

a 2 minute boarding call would've been fine but there was no intent to injure there. if MacDonald didn't skate like a newborn fawn he would've been fine |

The hit and what Simmonds were the same. They cancel each other. |

no one on the penguins tried to slash someone's throat with a stick |

I'm sure MacDonald had it coming.

no one "deserves" an injury but honestly, a 2 minute boarding would've been fine there. Kuhnhackl hit him in the numbers, which is bad, but he didn't hit him very hard. he was already on his way down before he got hit which is what made it look bad |

Re: The NHL Thread

Glass hit: Happy to see it wasn't a headshot. What was the call on the ice? I probably would've given him a major for Interference, as the puck was pretty far gone by the time Glass threw the hit. Far enough at least that he could've pulled up. That being said, I like the ref in that situation giving him the game misconduct. Severity of consequence is often the biggest teacher, and if the NHL wants blindside hits out of the game, that's how to do it. I would be a little surprised though if Glass got suspended. But I always get suspension predictions wrong, so I'll just stick with what I know, which is on-ice calls. :lol Boyle hit: Yeah, absolutely no intent to injure on that. Guys push off all the time like that when going for the puck. However, intent doesn't matter. Boyle gave Girardi a hard shove right in the death zone which you all know I'm so fond of. Again, I'm a very vocal proponent of zero tolerance when it comes to hits in that area, and severity is often the best teacher, so I'm satisfied with Boyle getting the game misconduct. |

be careful what you wish for. Pens might not be healthy when the playoffs start
and people are starting to sleep on Florida, which could be scary |
Re: The NHL Thread
Now that the Avs are out (not that they would've made it past the 1st round anyways), I start rooting for guys (not necessarily teams) who I'd like to see get a Cup. With that, I think I'm officially going to shift my support to the Capitals. I REALLY want to see Barry Trotz, one of my favorite hockey personalities of all time, get a Cup. So, I never thought I'd be saying this, but... go Caps.
Will also be cheering for the Rangers to go far (:lol) for the sake of Hank. And also for the Panthers because I love their overall story this year. Screw the West. Except the Predators. You know of my hard-on for Shea, and I also like Mike Underwood. |

If St. Louis overtakes Dallas than Dallas plays Chicago in the first round. That's grueling.
Anaheim could be overtaken by LA and then suddenly you got Anaheim vs. San Jose in the first round. |

I do love this Pens team. I believe in Matt Murray, though I really hope Fleury comes back soon. And Malkin coming back can only be a good thing. Fun bit of would've, could've, should've: If the Pens had beaten the Devils a couple of weeks ago, last night's win would've been their 18th in a row, which would've broken the 1993 team's record. |

Re: The NHL Thread
I did the beard once and it just didn't suit me. Gotta do goatee. The thing is though I find myself shaving more often cause the stubble doesn't look good with the longer goatee. At least I don't think.
