Return Of Blue Water

I'm fairly sure most of us have never seen a full band Blue Water performed. Maybe never seeing it, other than D+T 2-11-96, makes the song a long time fav...like Halloween is for me (only saw one in 65 attempts)...We all know, or should by now, the band will play what they want....but it seemed last summer as though the band played at least one or two that we've been dying for every night. Maybe it would help if people near the front start making BLUE WATER signs. After all, it always was, IMO, and will in the future hopefully, be Boyd's finest hour so to speak. With Butchie, they have the whole Peter sound covered. I realize its a bit slow, but c'mon we'd all lose it pretty quickly hearing those opening chords. Whos with me on this one? 1rst 10 row ants start urging the band in your own ways to get that one going again, full band!!!! :hug

you sayin you wouldnt enjoy seeing it? I realize we'll prob never get one, but I also would have predicted never being able to see a #34, and much to my surprise that night in Mansfield Ma, it was music to my ears. My thoughts are that Dave does enjoy the song quite a bit, as it still pops up with Timmy now and then. On the eve of the Roanoke show in 98 to open the tour, when the band did their monster soundcheck, He kept playing the chords right b4 they broke into Jimi Thing. So, all in all, signs, chants etc probably wont make a difference...but, if the members see, hear that the fans want to hear it, maybe they'll do it. Im thinking they consider the song too slow to play at a sold out venue....the pace of the song has nothing to do with the intensity of it. :hump

My halloween was the 12-7-98, full band with Timmy's electric knives cutting thru the Worcester Centrum and its fans during the " opera outro " One of the best IMO>>> but hell, they are all fantastic!

the halloween I got was 12-4-00

Unbelievable! Totally unexpected at that show.

I agree a full out 15 minute blue water would be sweet, but I doubt it will happen like that again. I was happy with the 4 minutes I got the one time I got it.

think that halloween 12-4 was the one that the IEM was floating around, where Dave and Carter talked about it ...."like old times mutha fucka, you could just go bap, a bap, abapbapbap"

The Blue water I saw acoustic in 96 was sweet, but his mother was in the front row, and he dedicated it to her...my buddy saw on 3-31-03, with the extra " with cocaine footprints on the table, my head hurts for days, oh and lipstick stains on the cigarette butts, but who, did all this make? , and I can't remember any of the faces, that kept me up, disgracing, you" verse. Maybe if we catch a band show his mother is at they'll play it.....now i'm really reaching! :rolleyes

^^ thanks for thre uploads

I support this thread

last year i was 4th Row at Riverbend and when Dave came out to introduce the opening band I displayed a Blue Water sign. He just gave me a little smirk.

In my mind i was just planting a seed, who knows.

Blue Water '07 - boo yah!

^^ yeah, i was 4th Row again at Bossom the next night and i thought of the same thing but forgot the sign.

I'm not really a fan of signs, especially during the show, but while he is walking out to introduce the opening band seemed like an opportune time

Re: Return Of Blue Water

Id rather see a full band #40 in all its glory.
BWBF doesnt do it for me, but im sure if you drop enough hints on signs they will get it, but please dont start chants they HATE that and so do the rest of us fans b/c you get those drunk fucktard kids chanting Two Step for the rest of the night.

Re: Return Of Blue Water

^^ NO, i hate chants too.

The best Blue Water is from 2-25-95 with that hauntingly beautiful Water/Wine Jam. THAT is how Blue Water should be played.

Wait, the Water/Wine Jam is BEFORE Blue Water? I read that the Water/Wine Jam is haunting, so I thought that was that amazing jam with the Boyd solo at the end, which is very haunting, not that little "we can dance together" part before BW.

Either way, 2-25-95 is THE BEST Blue Water. The jam at the end with Boyd's solo is absolutely amazing. Blue Water should make the very occasional comeback, just a half dozen times this summer/winter, but played how it was on 2-25-95.
