So it\'s Alpine, the bar is set high before the band takes the stage. In my very critical opinion, this was a good show. But, for Alpine standards it was average. Yes, Two Step was incredible. As was Bartender, Rapunzel, So Right opener..etc. The crowd energy was off the charts but they were never really given the chance to get fully into it. There would be a great 2-3 song run, and then Plastic Girl. I\'m not quite sure with 2017 being off, if the band will ever come back to Alpine (rumored closures, up for sale...etc) so why not unload every song the crowd is begging for? Play Thank-You, play Last Stop, play a 3 song encore and not cut Ants. Again, good show, just not an epic \"Alpine\" show.

What a difference a night makes! That Two Step closer was absolutely fabulous. The crowd was chanting for The Last Stop, but this was a great way to end it. Minarets, Rapunzel, and So Right provided a ton of energy, while #41 and Bartender brought the emotion. I think Samurai Cop and Bismark are my two favorites of the new songs as well, so having those on the same night helped. The Alpine Valley venue is incredible.

It was 3 pm on Sat and I had not been home from my brother\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s bachelorette party for more than 10 minutes when I received a discomforting text: Brad had chuffed in Paul\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s car after taking the Capital Brewery Tour. I struggled to arrange plans to pick the guys up and get them to the show on time. Next thing you know a bag of Jay\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s shows up at the door and it was shared with me that the chuff text had all just been a clever ruse to make me question Brad\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s ability to retain solid matter in his digestive system. We all had a good laugh. We got on the road. After Paul had done some shame eating in the car, we got to Alpine hours early in order to enjoy the tailgating atmosphere. As usual, there were buns hanging out everywhere. We worked on the some beers and a bag o Jay\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s as Bill and Paul\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s other friends showed up. One of Paul\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s friends may have been convinced that Bill and I were gay due to non-heterosexual comments made by Bill. It also seemed that everyone was eating their sandwiches down to a small nub and then offering those nubs to me as if it was some great edible prize or food charity. It should be noted that Bill, Paul and I took a bathroom excursion. Paul went first and before I was finished or Bill could pinch it off, Paul had run back to our lot location. Somehow, I always get the port-a-potty with a big fresh pile of liquid dump in it. Bill showed off his Raptor Talon keychain a few times too many making everyone around us uncomfortable so we decided to head in. On the way in we made a stop at the VIP piss alley behind the port-a-potties. Bill caught me accidentally seeking a peek at his penis while he was urinating and, spoiler alert, his is bigger than mine. We made the mistake of slumming it at Gate 4 and it took a lengthy amount of time to make it into the venue. Bill discovered the sticker Brad has slapped on his back earlier and we all had a good chuckle at this expense. We made it into the show and Dave started right off the bat with patronizing his fans with his little shuffle dances. Highlights of the show included So Right, Minarets, 41, all the new songs, and Boyd\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s pervert mustache. The phone ringing gag that Carter does during Digging a Ditch is pretty classic, too. Lowlights included the meathead and his tubby girlfriend next to me being upset when I slightly encroached on their seats. I tried to explain that at music concerts sometimes people shift and I was forced to shift too. Truth be told, I did slide over on to their seats on purpose several times because princess and her boyfriend kept getting up for snacks. It was surprising how upset they got so quickly. Throughout this whole time, Brad was descending on his downward spiral of intoxication. Just before the Rapunzel, Brad went off to try to put together a mother and daughter combo in a port-a-potty. He went MIA and didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t get what he was looking for but claims a girl offered him a guaranteed sexual experience for the next weekend. I got the car out of the lot a little too early forcing Paul and Brad to hoof it to the next county to meet up with me. On the way home, we reminisced about the time we went to the Gorge in 05. Brad revealed to us it was the first time he plowed his then girlfriend in the back door. The night was capped off with Brad forcibly shoving handfuls of Sour Cream and Cheddar Jay\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s into his mouth in a vain attempt to finish off the bag.

Solid show! 2nd half of the set got insane. Two Step was maybe the single greatest performance of ANY song I've ever seen them play live (53 shows as of this review). Completely transcending. Nancies was also phenomenal. Other highlights: Bismarck, Die Trying, DDTW, Bartender, OSW, Rapunzel. Lots of incredible moments throughout the show. Honored to be there and had a beautiful weekend hanging at Alpine again.

Such a fun show, first time to Alpine and I couldn\'t believe the crowd energy, pretty incredible for my 20th show! My favorite part was finally hearing Grace is Gone full band! Hope to make my way back up to Alpine in 2018.

From the So Right opener to the monster Two Step closer, this was an awesome Night 2. Highlights for me were So Right, Bartender, Grace, Idea of You (first time I heard it since 2004), Don\'t Drink, Rapunzel, Two Step. Plastic Girl was also not even that bad, considering it was the second time they\'ve ever played it live...I think it could morph into a good song with some more practice, and you can\'t blame the band for trying out new material because they\'ve been doing this for years and years. People seem to have short term memory when they\'re trashing new songs and constantly comparing them to the classics. For another rant, I couldn\'t be happier that the Thanks You chants were finally shut down. We\'ve heard it before, and it was cool the first time or two, but it needs to go away. Maybe by 2018, the brotastic Alpine lawn crowd will forget about it (fingers crossed). Anyway, couldn\'t have been happier with this show. The crowd energy was fantastic, especially on Bartender and Two Step, the band was jamming like there was no tomorrow, and I left satisfied yet again. Love this band, love Alpine, and can\'t wait for 2018!

My 44th show overall and 19th at Alpine. Can we just sit for a few minutes and reflect on what we witnessed last night? The first hour of music was probably the best 60-minute run I have ever heard in my 11 years of touring. I kept telling my wife from about the third song in that this setlist is HOT. This show had ZERO slowdowns and ZERO letdowns. This was a Top 10 for me of all time; will have to check some of my older shows to see if it\'s Top 5. OSW, Everyday and #41 always seem to find their way onto the Alpine sets. Grace is Gone and Digging A Ditch were treats. The Two Step closer can only be described as blistering. Wow, wow, wow. N2 trumps N1 yet again!

Great show, and incredible setlist, but it didn\\\\\\\'t flow at all. The songs were incredible, but they didn\\\\\\\'t flow together like they did last night. The return of Two Step made the crowd go ballistic. Highlights for me were So Right opener, Grace, Bartender, and Two Step. A little upset that they cut Ants from the encore.

A great show in total. My 42nd show overall, and this one is definitely top ten, possibly top five. I\'ll have to look back through to be sure, but a bunch of strong songs with a few newbies interwoven. Bartender was a blessing and the return of two step shows how much good a reprieve from routine play can be. Overall a bittersweet show because it\'s hard to believe it\'ll be two years (as of now) before we\'ll see them again. I\'m hoping for a fall your or some type of show run next year, but if not this show was about as good as it gets for a final show before the break.

After what I thought was a down night on N1, the guys blew the roof off of the place on N2. The show didn\'t have the same flow from song to song like N1, but that opening stretch was fantastic. Bartender was amazing and they sounded fresh on Two Step.

Our first show at Alpine, and definitely one of the best we\'ve seen. Crowd was awesome, which we expected. Venue was incredible -- in terms of the views, the sound, and the sheer size. And very well-run, especially for such a huge crowd. The show itself was amazing. Great set list. Band sounded fantastic. Loved the Two Step to close the show. Maybe not quite as epic as the one we saw N2 at Klipsch in 2013, but a close 2nd. Definitely hope to return in 2018.

only thing that keeps me from rating it 5 was a weird vibe on stage. Someone said Boyd was sick, maybe that's it, dunno. but something was off. strange and unpleasant audio loop at the end went on for 10 minutes, almost seemed to drive the crowd to the exits. no way was anyone going to launch a "thank you" chant over that. maybe that was the point? also, the band left the venue immediately. I mean, literally within 3 minutes of walking off stage after the absolutely killer Two Step encore, the buses were rolling. like they couldn't wait to get the f outta there. I've seen them take as much as 30 minutes to leave Alpine before... but not N2 2016. not sure what to make of it. I hope to see them back here in 2018, but I'm taking nothing for granted anymore.
