Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of great moments in this show. You Never Know was fantastic and surprising. Halloween to close the show is always great. Unless The Last Stop, Spoon, and The Stone are all played, I could never give a show with The Lovely Ladies more than 2 stars. This tour is like a 1998 - 2001 horrible flashback. A great show that gets ruined as soon as The Ladies come out. 10 songs in total in two nights with them? You have to be kidding me. Whoever had the idea of bringing them back this tour needs to slapped repeatedly.
When I think back at some of the shows I have seen this tour years from now, the God damn Lovely Ladies will be the first thing that will come to my mind. Any of your morons that are happy about The Ladies playing with the band again (and getting to hear Stay or You and Me), should stop going to DMB shows. You are only encouraging a band that has the potential to be the greatest band in the world to be at their worst.

Not too shabby. Had a lot of older songs which was nice. They rocked the acoustic set without a doubt. Lovely ladies were fantastic. Was not expecting the encore either. Couldv'e sworn it was going to be Som Devil> Watchtower. Great energy all night.

This show was the best out of the ones I've seen in my lifetime (which is not very many). I loved seeing the Lovely Ladies; I used to listen to Stay when I was younger and to see it in person with the LL was epic. I loved this show, can't wait to listen to the highlights off of dontburnthepig!

First time in Hartford. Went with the Darone's who used to live there. Very city like and the tailgating is not like SPAC at all. But hanging with the right people makes all the difference. Had seats together both nights. Score!

Great, fun show. Can't believe they played You Never Know. That is an all time highlight for me. Can't complain about anything and the crowd was really into the whole show. Acoustic set was a nice warm up for 2+ hours of the second set. BTW they closed with Halloween.

My 36th show and 5th of the Summer! Excellent show even with the LL. They did NOT ruin the show IMO. They were very good on LBV and Burning Down the House. Stay was a great 1st closer because it fitting due to how hot it was out! You Never Know was amazing! So Damn Lucky was very good with the crown chanting Thank you at the end! The band's energy was amazing! What a wonderful night and weekend!

Still have Sugar Man stuck in my head! Great show, DMB always knows how to crush it at Hartford saturdays. Highlights for me were: Rhyme acoustic, Nancies opener, YNK, Bill on Jimi, Long Black Veil, Burning Down, and the killer encore.

Great show one of the best I've been to. Band was high on energy all night as was the crowd no one around me was disappointed. I don't get the hate on the lovely ladies thought they made You and Me 100x better and long black veil was amazing. Maybe some of the people who complain need stop going to shows and regain an appreciation for what the band is now and stop crying for the exact same shows you went to 20 years ago

Let me preface this by saying I’ve been hitting DMB shows for just about 20 years. Before marriage and kids, it was relatively easy to fly around the country, meet up with my college buddies, and take in a half dozen or more shows each year.
Now it’s considerably harder, but I still manage to get a few shows under my belt each tour, albeit with a smaller group of friends. I cherish these weekends with my dearest friends and the jaw dropping artistry of the Dave Matthews Band. There’s no place I’d rather be than at a DMB show. I played their music at my wedding, during the birth of my children, and I’ll make sure they are played at my funeral.
It’s probably not surprising that over 20 years, lots of things have changed. I party a wee bit less, I’m much more selective with my seats, I cherish (and contribute more) to great crowd karma, I like to splurge a bit more on cushier hotel accommodations and yes, I’m pickier about the set list.
But one thing that hasn’t changed is my positive attitude about things. It pains me to read these reviews and see all the haters out there, crapping on the (sporadic) return of the Lovely Ladies, the ideal encore not being played, too many Jimi Things, etc. I’m not suggesting that people aren’t entitled to their opinions, and I certainly don’t think the band is infallible, but the anonymity the internet seems to provide a safe haven for people to come off the rails in these reviews with gross exaggerations and extreme declarations.
It’s one thing to express disappointment in yet another run of Proudest Monkey/Satellite, or to bitch about some teenager behind you who pissed on your leg or puked on the back of your seats, but this non-stop gush of fury and vitriol about the Lovely Ladies (as just one example) is completely off-putting and calls into question the validity of the rest of your critique.
Did it really ruin the show to hear Long Black Veil? Did tonight’s version of Stay really suck or was it pretty friggin awesome to step back into the time machine and watch it one more time like it was in the old days for which so many of you seem to pine? And was Burning Down the House that terrible with the Lovely Ladies? I think not.
I personally thought the show kicked ass. Yet another great show at Hartford. The acoustic set was far more hard-charging than I would have ever imagined and everyone seemed to really get into it. I had my doubts since I thought the lighting rig wouldn’t be in full force and many of the seats wouldn’t be filled, but alas, my fears were put to rest. I almost couldn’t believe it that after closing the first set with a strong version of Ants, we got to do it all over again some 20 minutes later.
Dancing Nancies to open the 2nd set was spectacular and the super moon out over the lawn made for a fitting setting for One Sweet World and You Never Know (one of the most under appreciated songs IMHO). Dave really got into it on Seven (another great number), and the Pink Floyd riffs during Drunken Soldier gave me goose bumps (sounded like a little Breath and some Great Gig In The Sky, the latter of which the Lovely Ladies even riff’d). I felt incredibly lucky to catch Long Black Veil, and to that end, felt very lucky to be at one of the shows this year where the Lovely Ladies dropped by.
The only drawback for me was Halloween as the closer. I actually don’t like Halloween. I know that lots of people love that song, (or perhaps more appropriately seem to love the idea of Halloween because of how rarely it’s played), but I’m not a fan, perhaps for the very reason I just cited.
Regardless, the show was one of the best I’ve ever seen, and like so many of the other shows I’ve attended, there was no place I’d rather be last night than at DMB. Thumbs up to the Harford crowd as well. It spanned a huge swath of ages and despite the group in front of me astonishingly smoking their weight in pot (or maybe because of it), the crowd karma all around us was terrific – quiet when they needed to be, participatory on command and loud when appropriate.
See you all next year.

This is the second best show I have been too! Really enjoyed The Lovely Ladies and the two covers-- "Long Black Veil" and "Burning Down the House". Dave also seemed to be in a great mood and was just so much fun. Also loved that there really was a variety of people of all ages. Thanks, DMB!

This was the best dave show ive been to. Somehow 8 shows in this was my first nancies which was great. Dave was more animated with the mini talks between songs and the jams were better than the previous night. The crush ending was awesome especially Rashwan's horn part at the end. I turned my camera on to record burning down the house less than a week later under my monizzle145 youtube page it has 1,000 views def a good set 2 ender. I guess im starting to predict what dave will play better because i totally called the so much to say to bridge to halloween ending as set 2 was closing. I knew they wouldn't end on too much and they had not played anything from crash in set 2 yet. Halloween is an experience and was a great ending to my 8th show.
