Started solid enough, but just lackluster. I am actually sorta glad they are taking a year off...hopefully it will inspire them. A few highlights, but if you are rating this 5 stars, you are delusional. Compared to another band, perhaps...but this does not even touch what they are capable of.

Highlights: Nancies -> Warehouse, Proudest, Beach Ball, Black Jack is solid.

Lowlights: The rest. Closing with Jimi Thing is pretty weak. The encore was incredibly rushed and flat. Ending with any Groo Grux song is meh...especially a super rushed version of SMLAM. Like the song well enough, but mid set would be much better.

Perhaps I am just jaded, but why does every review end up sounding like "14th show and I would have to say it is in the top 3". Eventually you run out of top 3s. Would be nice to see some realistic reviews on this site for some parity.

I have seen one worse show in ~40. 2 stars.

Also, ants needs to fix the escaping apostrophes problem ;).

@lumaluv: You "hate" me because I posted an honest review of a show? That's harsh. The fact of the matter is, they have played way better shows...period. I'm sorry you weren't able to see them. The site is already a fan site. Everyone here obviously loves the band. The entire point of reviewing a SHOW, is to review the SHOW, not the band. It's a relative thing. If SPAC N2 is 5*, calling this 5* is insulting.

Is your idea of a perfect review one that just says "5* GREATEST SHOW EVER" no matter what? Some shows are better than others. IT'S RELATIVE TO OTHER SHOWS.

Definitely the best show I've been to so far. Stayed at a hotel right across the street from the venue within walking distance. Setlist was AWESOME, vibe was great, had lawn seats but sat very close to front and had great sound and a good view of the large jumbotron for the up close shots. Favorite part of show was when Dave sported Tim's pink sunglasses and then when we rocked out to Sexy MF!

I'll fondly remember this one. It was the spark used to lead my wife and I to decide to get married in Rio while the band was there in October. A lot happened in just over two months and it was an amazing experience.

Solid show. Nothing to write home about and after seeing DMB in Atlanta the night before it was kind of a come down. Decent setlist. Bartender, Nancies and Warehouse were solid. Sister was a good enocore but I would have liked to see something other than SMLAM to end it.

OK MAN THAT'S IT... I HATE THIS KIND OF GUYS LIKE CPPJames, MAN IF YOU HAVE SEEN 40 SHOWS. STOP IT! DON'T GO AGAIN AND DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME. THIS IS A FORUM MADE FOR LOVE THIS BAND. FOR ME THEY ARE GREAT THEY ARE ALWAYS GREAT I HAD ONLY SEEM THEM 2 TIMES HERE IN TAMPA CAUSE IM FROM VENEZUELA THEY DONT PLAY THERE. SO IF YOU ARE SO TIRED OF SEEN THIS DONT DO IT AGAIN! THEY PLAYED A NEW SONG TO ALL OF US!!! THEY ARE ALWAYS CHANGING AND YOU GIVE THEM ONLY 2 STARS??? WHAT THE HELL??? OK MAYBE THEY ARE NOT JAMMING LIKE THEY USED TO... BUT... THEY ARE ALWAYS GREAT AND TRYING TO BE BETTER EVERYDAY. SO PLEASE... DONT MAKE COMMENTS LIKE THIS GUY... "OH YEAH IVE BEEN IN 15413545 SHOWS SO IM TIRED, THEY HAVE BEEN BETTER BEFORE"...

not one of the best i've seen, but still a decent show. it was almost like 2 concerts...from PM>You and Me it was the most mellow show i've ever seen, and was leaving me kind of disappointed...but from Nancies until Jimi i thouroughly enjoyed the set. The encore was weak but thats what we've come to expect lately unfortunately. barely 4 stars but 4 stars nonetheless...seeing black jack was sick too. next up WRIGLEY!!

Pretty run-of-the-mill show for me. I wish they wouldn't have cut DIDO from the set, but the quiet Beach Ball, Crush, and Black Jack were all pretty solid.

It did seem like they were rushing a bit toward the end because of the curfew. Dave started up Crash while everyone else was still in DDTW. Makes me wonder why they added in Still Water instead of just going right into DDTW, not that I'm complaining.

That's right! 5 ***** dayyum stars!
Very good WH seats, dead ass center of Row L section 214. This map's a little messed up.

OK, first let me just go ahead and say that it was hotter than 10 hells in Tampa. OK, as the cliche' goes it's not the heat....it's the goddamn humidity! I was a soaking wet mess from the time we got out of the car until I changed clothes around midnight. The venue is pretty cool, smaller than I thought with an energetic crowd. The band was on FIRE last night y'all. I mean this was a special show. Dave's voice seemed kinda croaky at first (like for a few syllables/bars/whatevers), during either PM or Satellite, but he was just warming up I guess. Carter, Tim, and Jeff only had a couple shortish solos each. RR was, as usual this year, amazing. Oh, and did I mention a killer setlist?! With the exception of So Damn Lucky, this was a hundred (hunnert!) different kinds of awesome.

When David J. Matthews intro'd Gov't Mule he said something like "I'm not gonna take a bunch of time here, and I hope we get it right for y'all tonight." We hear from Dave that he still gets nervous before shows...he must be a fellow neurotic because dude doesn't have a thing to worry about. Except some of the most spoiled and critical fans in the world. And some of the best looking women adoring him....I guess that would be kinda stressful in it's own way. Poor rock star LOL.

Proudest Monkey - Nice smooth version, pretty opening song.

Satellite - Oh. Hell. Yeah.

Big Eyed Fish - Standard for 2010. Remember when this was a rare treat? Well it's in steady rotation now and our lives are better for it!
Bartender - 4 songs in a row that are great openers in themselves...the trend for killer first 3-4 songs continues. I keep wanting to be able to tell what's coming by the instrument setups. On BEF Dave played his big 12 string and Fonz had a 6 string bass.

Beach Ball - Nice, a first for me in a live show.

Stay or Leave - Love love love this song. If you don't then there must be something wrong with your ears. And your heart.

Seven - the bass here absolutely kicks ass.

Funny - The crowd is really digging this.

So Damn Lucky - Concensus, "piss break" according to the flood of people from out of the pavilion. Tim has saved this song for 2 years now and he keeps doing it. Actually, the whole band finishes this song strongly...if I just didn't have to sit through the first several minutes to get there. Sorry, I'm down on SDL. Lowpoint of the night came and went.

You and Me - OK, Mrs. Rogue and I just celebrated 8 married years Tues night at the ATL show so it's great to get some lovin' music.

Dancing Nancies - "Could I have been lost somewhere in Tampa?"
Sing and dance, y'all. Boyd gives AND GETS some love with the crowd here! I've observed in earlier reports that the more Boyd we get the more energy the show seems to have. He played right up next to DM a few times and they were "chatting" or something during Boyd's jam...how the hell do you do that?! It's not like walking and chewing gum or anything but still. Boyd played with Fonz later too.

Warehouse - Bam! Pow! They don't delay the into to let the crowd do the "Woo!"s. Just a beautiful cacophony of energy from everyone. Tim finally solos here and holds back...I can't say enough how amazing it is to have one of the best guitar players in the world mostly playing rhythm and fill-in for this band. RR played some trumpet on this song that'll make your ears bleed. It went into that jazzy-zydeco-funk jammy sound for awhile and God said it was good.

Crush - Warren Haynes guested. OK, Warren you have 3 amazing guitar players, OK 2 and a bass player, backing you up. What are you gonna do with it? Just absolutely blend into the song, play some sick solos, and not get all Mule-ish on us that's what! Way to go Warren! So glad you didn't have to play Cornbread again tonight. Here's to really letting you and TR go this weekend in WPB.

Black Jack - I'll admit it...I didn't know what the hell was going on here so I looked at Twitter and DMBLive told me what was up. What a fun song that is just all over the place musically. Dave seemed to be watching for cues from Rashawn the most. When it was over he (DAVE) said it was the first time they'd played it and I thought "that isn't right." Well, the earlier play was a "partial" so now 2 cities can claim the maiden voyage of this gem. Dave mentioned that they were "happy" they had played this song for the first time. Helluva first play guys! "You don't give up!"

Still Water - This song will haunt your soul.

DDTW - Just about like Tuesday night's version. Which is to say that the power and energy in this song blow your hair back. It's like someone sat you down in a 600hp race car and said "hold on."

Crash IM - Pretty pretty. Dixie chicken/Tennesssee lamb is pretty "common" these days but it still tickles folks to hear it.

Why I Am - I thought this would be the setlist closer b/c Dave said "thanks for coming be safe"....something like that like he usually does before the last song before break. And I still thought we had an amazing pre-break show.

Jimi Thing - Whazzis? Only 1 saxophone Mr. Coffin? Are you coasting on us? Apparently not, since you played your bald head off! Funny scatting, I think this was the song where Dave picked up a pair of those godawful cheap pink Wayfarers and wore them for awhile. He did kind of a girly-gay thing at first then scatted awhile. I think Tim was jealous of those glasses! It was kooky and fun. The lead singer guy for this band is sorta weird, IMO. I don't know if he's gonna make it big ever, but I'm glad I got to see him. One of my friends thinks he's an idiot-savant. Anyhow, what a great way to close a set! Sexy mf outro.

Sister - the emotion in this song tonight put a lump in my throat.

Shake Me Like A Monkey - Lots of monkeys in songs. NTTAWWT. Good finish, I think there was an 11:00 curfew.

OK, I have to say again what a great light show is going on in these shows! Does Fenton organize the camera work too? During Jimi Thing, Dave was up on 3 big screens scatting and the screen in the middle turned into a negative-color type of scene....OMG that was cool as shit.

Leaving this show last night I was blown away and kept saying things like "ho-LEEEEE-y SHIT!" prompting Mrs. Rogue to ask what was on my mind...it was the afterglow energy from a show like this. This instantly is a top 5 show in my DMB career, and that's a conservative estimate until I get to listen to a B&P or something later. It was 2.5 hours of greatness except for SDL for me. Oh, people in Tampa are, as our friends who met up with us said, "fragrant." Not as stinky as Atlanta, but not very fresh either. And they LOOK so clean! :D

The busses drove out right by our line of cars and I finally got to see Fonz, Jeff, and Dave on their busses heading out.

The rush from this show lasted until after 1AM for me and I still have a little left over this morning. Good good time.

My first Dave show! Certainly not my last. Great to see some classics (Nancies, Warehouse, Jimi, DDTW, and Bartender) as well as some rarer gems (Beach Ball, Still Water) Also, what an honor to be there the first time the band played a full version of Black Jack! The band ripped it the whole time and it certainly got me hooked on the live DMB experience.%0A
