Never thought I'd see a show anywhere near what I saw at SPAC... i got it last night, maybe even better (can't really compare them... comparing dmb shows is like comparing kids)
carter beauford is not a human being. the two step solo was nuts but it wasnt just that. he was great on stone typ sit and of course halloween...
40 definitely wasn't a tease either
I've got a little sister named jane...

This was the best DMB show I have ever been to. What an encore - Rye whiskey, Time bomb, and Halloween. I've been very fortunate to see Halloween for the last two summer is a row! Also this show featured some of my favorites such as The Stone and Typical Situation.

Night one I called the opener, night two I called the set closer and the entire encore in order. Wow! This weekend marked my first wedding anniversary, and what a way to celebrate! Halloween as a closer was amazing! First time I've ever heard it live in fourty shows! The Stone was a great suprise as well as #40 into Dreaming Tree. Carter's drum solo at the end of Two Step was by far the show stealer, in a word it was epic. Night one also had its moments. #41 jam was increadable, Timmy was shreading like crazy! Anyone Seen The Bridge?/Too Much fake into Tripping Billies was a huge surprise, and I honestly can't remember the last time I heard Jimi Thing live, fantastic. All the new stuff sounded great with highlights on night one being, Lying in The Hands Of God, Spaceman, Funny The Way It Is and Seven. And night two with You and Me, Squirm and Time Bomb.
The encores for this weekends shows were the best I've seen. Wachtower with Stairway To Hevan jam in the middle complete with vocals, Wow.
Night two's encore brought us a Dave solo Rye Whiskey, that has to be one of the best of the tour. He really loves that tune and you can hear it in his voice and see it when he plays. Time Bomb turnd into a kick ass jam that lead into the highlight of weekend, Halloween. In a word, again, epic. The whole weekend.
You can bet we'll be back next year.
Cheers!

The Song That Jane Likes, SMLAM, and Burning Down The House were first times for me and were sweet...I heard my first Halloween and it was freaking nuts, what a way to end the first leg of the tour...looks like this will be the last concert for me until 2010 so I'm content after this sick nasty show!!!

I wouldn't go as far to say that Keith Moon should be shining Carter's shoes but this is by far the best Dave Matthews show I have ever been to, hands down. I thought MSG 05 was good, you couldn't have guessed what was coming next. So glad the set wasn't too predictable but there were monsters up and down it. Hell of a time with some good people. DMB never ceases to amaze me. Gotta love it

I've never been to the Saturday show in Pittsburgh, and I've heard that it's better than the Friday one...to say this was better than the Friday show would be an EXTREME understatement. This show was amazing from the start. I love the open with the curtain. Awesome! There wasn't a dull moment at all. By far the highlight of the night was Pig. I have seen it 2 times in the past but my wife has never seen it. She has been to about 10 or so shows. That is her favorite song and after every show there is a little disapointment that it wasn't played. Number 3 in the set list and the night was only begining! #40 as close to full version as you will ever see. The new songs all were amazing. The show was freaking awesome!!! See you in Cleveland!

I went to this show fully expecting something spectacular and the guys were everything that defines that word, plus a quarter-million other positive adjectives. I never thought another DMB show could top my front row experience last year at Rothbury but with a set from the heavens and the fluidity and energy of a late 90s to early 2000s show, Pitt N2 is one for the ages!

WOW! What a weekend at Starlake! Me and my wife were front row on Friday and Carter handed me a stick after Watchtower, awesome! The band, from PNP on Friday to Halloween on Saturday, played like they wanted Pittsburgh to be the next new live trax. The setlists were incredible and like everyone has said the band as a whole was just jaw-dropping in how they commanded the stage musically. There is no weak part on that stage right now and I am just glad I was there to witness the entire weekend!

This band is in mid-season form. Great show tonight. To correct the setlist, #40 was Dave solo and he sang at least two verses, it was a partial song and not a tease. For an album support tour, the band is really mixing up the set list well. High energy show. The Stone ending reprise was very cool. Crush and Two Step were awesome, as was Time Bomb. Halloween was icing on the cake.
The Davespeak about the signs was hilarious. Not quite on par with
SPAC N2, but doesn't miss by much!

This is one of the best times I've had at a DMB show in a long ass time. Up until the new album came out I had actually stopped being a diehard fan for a couple years and I thought the direction they were heading in was bad. Well the new album blew me away and so did my first show of 2009!!!! I'm downloading shows again and dancin my ass off to DMB :D
Bartender opened the show and it was honestly the best version I personally have heard in concert before. It's usually very tiring and they really brought it out for us night 2. It's so fresh I cant stop listening to the show on my computer. Squirm is quickly becoming a DMB classic. Pig is one of my favorite songs so it truly was a surprise hearing it. People complained about Star Lake fans not singing during The Stone until Carter held his arms out but I think there was a tiny hope in all of our minds that Dave would sing the lyrics to Cant Help Falling In Love. I've been waiting years to hear #40 and it went right into one of my favorite songs The Dreaming Tree. Tim Reynolds is really leaving a great impression. He's really standing out this year. The band had so much energy. Jeff Coffin was incredible. Everyone was smiling and dancing and jammin. I wish I could be at star lake night 2 every night of my life. Two Step was one of the best I ever heard. Carters drum solo between Time Bomb and Halloween was rediculous. Halloween was rediculous lol. I honestly felt like I got sent back to the past for an amazing show... The best part about it is that its actually 2009 and we'll get to enjoy more shows when they get back to the states!!!!!
I want to thank my boy Nick for getting us such great tickets. We sat around a bunch of friendly fans. The girl dancin next to me was cute as hell. I can't believe the band is back. This was one of the best weekends of my life.
Sleeping in my car off of route 18 was okay.. hahahahaha

obviously if you look at the setlist you can clearly see this was the best show in years, and my personal best out of 24 shows. i wasnt at spac last week, but this has to match that. not only was the setlist sick, but ive never seen dave and everyone else so on point and on fire. Pig, stone, 40, dt, typical, stjl, and halloween were all so unreal. for the first time in 24 shows, dave gave me everything i wanted and i left feeling like i got the show ive been waiting for for 10 years. i do, however, wish that DMB fans at burgettstown were more like the phish fans that were there on thursday. the energy level doesnt even compare, but that might be because they are all on acid.

Best show I've ever been to. Only my second Dave concert but I'd consider myself a pretty big fan. I'd been following the tour and didn't know if anything would top SPAC night two but this definitely did. One of the classic openers Bartender. Great cover, Burning Down The House, that got the crowd pumped up. Classic songs like Pig, Stone, Crush, Typical Situation, Song That Jane Likes, and of course Halloween. Amazing show. Tim and Jeff were awesome on Crush. Carter was insane. I heard some new stuff on Two Step that I'd never heard from Carter. Drum Solo into Halloween was the best moment of any concert I've ever been to. Don't know how/if any shows will beat this for a long time.

O.K. I know you have heard the hype and buzz of this show, both really....this weekend in Pittsburgh was show 26 and 27 for me, going back to 1995. I have some background in this, and have seen some wonderfull shows ('98 at Nissan, Vegas in '07 and '09, the Vet 2-night stop in '99 and Leroi's last show). This was THE BEST show I have ever seen. I waited until Monday afternoon to write this as to take a step back and to make sure...and yes, it is. Thinking about it, it's not really even close.
I feel like I was transported back to the incredible Summer of '98 when BTCS was released. Besides the new Big Whiskey songs (which are "monsters" in trainng already) only Bartender was made post-1998. It was incredible.
Bartender- Always know it's gonna be a special night with this. Great energy in the opener.
Squirm- In my top 3 from the new album, and it is GOING to be a monster. Short, sweet and a lot of energy.
Pig- Classic. Haven't heard it in a while, and at this point in the show I saw it as a pleasant surprise.
Dive In- Keeping the mood with this song. It's coming along, with a nice little jam towards the end. Expect more from this song as the Summer goes on.
Burning Down the House- Heard this in Vegas, and tonights was WAY better!!
Stone- Now things start to turn towards the "epic show" mode. One of my ABSOLUTE favorites, and they killed it. Dave's voice, the outro..."I can't help falling in love..." Really a beautiful moment. So Bartender, Pig, and Stone and it's not even dark yet!!
Anyone seen?>>Too Much(fake)>>Ants Marching- This pretty much shook off the shock of the crowd from the setlist so far and sent it into a frenzy. At this point I knew we were in for something special. Dave and the boys and the crowd were just feeding off each other. Stefan was wailing the bass on this. Jeff and Carter killed it...all night.
#40- O.K. The discussion of tease or no tease. I would say no tease. Definitely 2 solid verses of the Yoshi's version!! That would make it a (partial), right? Someone I guess told Dave the lyrics!! Beautiful, I lost it. Midset #40?? Yep...
Dreaming Tree- This starts playing and I actually laugh because this set can not be happening. Musically they just toyed with this song. The jam was unreal and the crowd you could tell was just in aww of it because you were getting very little reaction from even the diehards who had been geeking out all show while bomb after bomb was being dropped by these guys.
Why I Am/Funny the Way- Both of these songs have incredible energy and already sound like they've been playing them for years (especially Why I Am). Tim adds a dimension on Why I Am that just rocks it. LeRoi is no doubt on stage with them during this tune.
Typical Situation- Bartender, Pig, Stone, Ants, #40, Dreaming Tree...why not Typical Situation? Sure. Jeff added his own little mood to it, Boyd put a lot into this one. Solid solid version.
Shake Me- Woke everyone up again and the place went nuts. Definite the fan favorite of the new album. I personally like Seven and Squirm, but this one does rock live.
Crush- This was just filthy. Jeff and Carter...just illegal what they were doing up there. One of the best versions I've ever heard.
Jane- At this point I could have gone home as I felt they had just blown my mind...then...Jane!! Haven't heard it in YEARS!! It sounded great and they even jammed down on it a little harder than what I remember. Unreal...
You and Me- Beautiful song. Already a nice sing along tune, with a little bit more energy live. This one has legs, for sure.
Two Step- I've seen this song plenty. I'm at the point now where I don't even get that crazy for it like everyone else does (the chants for it after like the 3rd song and all that). This version...this one...if you only listen to one thing that I say in this review, listen to this one: you MUST get this show some how, some way and listen to this version of Two Step. Holy shit. The best version I've ever heard. The build up after the intro verse by Dave was unreal. Carter had a solo that was something out of...I don't know. It wasn't human or anything any other drummer can do. I challenge you to find any drummer that did what Carter did for 5 plus minutes to his poor drum set. I stopped singing, dancing, and clapping and just stood there. For like 5 minutes I just watched him go...and then right back into it full band to close out the song. I didn't know what to do.
ENCORE
Rye Whiskey- Heard this in Vegas too, but this version was SOOO much better. Dave's voice at the end of Vegas was gone, unfortunately. However, he was still wailing and hitting some pretty high notes. Beautiful version.
Time Bomb- Sweet tits!! This song WILL be a closer soon. They wail and Dave blows his voice out on this. Crowd was going crazy. Going through their catalouge on what they had played Friday and Saturday, there wasn't much left for them to end the show with.
I thought, "Bartender, Pig, Stone, Ants, #40, Dreaming Tree, Typical Situation, Jane, Two Step...if it ended with Halloween, that would be it. The best show ever..."
Halloween- There is no more things I could say to add to the "awesomeness" of this show, but them closing it out with Halloween, just finished me. Icing on the cake, with the cherry on top. Just raw...and the newbie fans who weren't sure what it was around me were going apeshit by the end of Carter's 2nd disgusting solo in about 30 minutes.
I am just so happy for the guys as they have put out a great album that they are happy about and seem to be having fun again. It brought me back to why I originally fell in love with this band in the first place. The tour so far has been amazing and can't wait for Hershey and Nissan (which should be very emotional). So get to as many shows as you can this Summer. This band has found the fountain of youth and are truly BACK.
P.S.- Do yourself another favor, vote this for LiveTrax...it would be a crime if people couldn't purchase this beautiful show.
Peace.

What Jake said in the news section of Antsmarching.org is spot-on.
And everything the rest of the people said in their reviews, too.
The last show I went to was in Camden, NJ. The crowd in Camden booed when the main setlist was over, because Camden and surrounding area is mostly full of jackasses. This crowd was much better, and the 6-hour drive from Philly was worth it x10.
Less than three, DMB, less than three. This show is as good as it gets.

PLEASE....LIVE TRAX! Unreal...I didn't think anything could top night one...(expecially since Carter handed both my friend and me a drum stick!) ...but this was amazing...unbelievable set list...The Stone...always a favorite...Typical Situation was unreal and Carter on Two Step was nuts! Overall, Jeff Coffin had such big shoes to fill and is brilliant. Crush...always fun...love hearing the crowd screw it up every time near the end of the first chorus :) All of the new songs are great live...Time Bomb and Why I Am and you have to love Shake Me Like a Monkey...Never a fan of Halloween...(don't boo me) but the crowd chanting for it and it was delivered after Time Bomb...I think I need to rethink my position on that one, what a performance! I could go on and on....oh yeah...and Dave on Rye Whiskey...wow...
PLEASE...Live Trax...PLEASE!!!!

by far, the best DMB show I have ever seen. Carter is a god. But Boyd was in the zone. I have always had lawn seats, but I decided to get close this year, and I will be up front for every show now. It was a totally different experience.

I think of this show as one of, if not the best show that I've ever had the pleasure to whitness. This was 3rd nigth of shows in a row at Starlake (Phish 6/18 and DMB 6/19 & 6/20) - got sweet seats from DMBs tour manager, Bill Greer (the band stayed at the hotel) - front section on Steffan's side. Met some pretty cool people who seemed to have an affiliation with the band, but wouldnt say how (I believe they knew Boyd from what I recall) -- they hooked us up with free beers and food (yummy lamb chops!). The setlist was great - Typical Situation was fantastic and Halloween (full band) was raging and intense. Great show and weekend!!

When the band started, I sensed that Carter was absolutely on, and the rest of the band was right there. I don't think I've heard such great energy, at least since the Friday night, 6/19 show! Awesome stuff.

Excellent SHOW! Blew N1 away, and not just because they played halloween... It was very nice to hear STJL and Typical situation. Very cool part during the stone where carter and dave were encouraging the crowd to sing the "fools rush in outro part" and they played the ending jam twice. Ants rocked, Time bomb is such a great song! Big thanks to the boys for playing extra long. They didn't go off for the encore break until 10:55. Dave even had some great comedy about signs needing to be written with really big letters. It would be worth it to Download this show.

This has to be the best show I've ever seen live. The N2 Charlottesville show from this years Spring Tour was great, but the mixing of the new songs from Big Whiskey put this show at the top of my list. Two Step was amazing to close before the encore, it was great seeing Carter blow it out like that near the end.

The best concert I've ever been to. Setlist was amazing. Crush was amazing. Really wished he'd played something other than Halloween though, like Warehouse. But oh well, ya can't complain, it is Halloween. Pig, 40, DTree, Jane. Man, all sweet songs. Loved it!!

Amazing show!!!! The setlist kept me guessing what would come next all night. Good mix between the new album and old stuff. Great to hear Pig, The Stone, and Typical Situation. Carter was nasty on his Two Step solo. Ants and Time Bomb were really good. Amazing to see the band play for pretty much 3 hours. Sweet encore with Rye Whiskey and Halloween. Best concert I have ever been to.

Easily the best out of my 13 shows. Made the trip from Toronto and was worth every second. Highlights for me were 2 personal favourites: Stone and Dreaming Tree, but of course who doesn't love Halloween, Typical, Bartender, Pig, 40!!!, Two Step etc. I can go on and on. Easily the best show I've been to and will be returning in the future.

If you didn't like this show, you're either A.) Not a fan at all B.) Crazy or C.) Dead.
This could have been the best show Pittsburgh has ever seen. Great Bartender opener. All the new songs sound amazing live. Amazing Mid-set Ants, Typical Sit. was off the chain. STJL and Halloween just topped it off. And if you missed Carter's drum solo during Two Step... just end your life because it was naaaaaaasty. He tore it up like I've never seen before. Keith Moon would be shining Carter's shoes right now after what Carter did during Two Step. I believe this is the greatest 2-night stand Pittsburgh has ever had and I can't wait til next year. And just by looking at the setlists... I think these 2 nights topped last weekends SPAC run.

I can safely say that this was the best show i've ever been to and i've been seeing dmb shows since 1996. 4th row center baby.
started off very nicely w/ a spot-on bartender. loved dave's wailing during the crescendo. very powerful. coffin's solo at the end was very good.
next came squirm. one of my favorite songs off of big whiskey. the crowd seemed very into it as did the band. they seemed very comfortable with it despite it being a new one.
pig next. i just love this song. it's the reason i'm the hardcore fan i am today. very nice performance.
dive in. i like the song but it hasn't reached its potential yet live. boyd is expanding a bit on this one and the opportunity for him to shine is definitely there.
burning down the house rocked big time.
then the stone. one of the highlights of the night. the musicianship displayed during this tune is incredible. the crowd never really got the can't help falling in love part at the end. carter was waving his sticks to get the crowd to clap and to help lead the crowd but it just couldn't get everyone together on it. lots of fun. they did a double reprise too which was suprise.
astb...>tm fake. i love seeing stefan dancing across the stage during this. lots of energy and i was kinda hoping for tm to not be a fake and actually go into it but ants is always amazing. this song never ceases to amaze me in how the whole band's individual performances on this song meld into such a beautiful synchronicity. this is dmb.
partial #40. beautiful is all i can say about this. i was hoping for the whole band to join but i'll take whatever they want to give.
dreaming tree. this was a perfect performance of this song in my opinion.
why i am. dave mentioned that this is for the groogrux king before they broke into it and it's such a fitting tribute to leroi. high energy and would have done leroi proud.
ftwii. this is probably the one song i would have not had in this show if i could have chosen the setlist. standard version but still good nonetheless
typical situation was off the hook. so glad that i got to see this live. amazing performance by all on stage. coffin ripped it up on this. just loving what he brings to the shows.
smlam is a great song live and could be played every night at any show that i go to in the future.
crush. this song is such a monster anymore. every fan sings along to the words but i was looking forward to what comes after. boyd rips off a killer solo and then coffin slowly strolling over to tim and them just battling it out. so much fun to see with my own eyes. carter ripped this a new one too. jawdropping peformance.
tstjl. i love when they bust this one out. very nice.
you and me. nice little song. was very fitting for me because my wife is pregnant w/ our 1st child (my baby's 1st dmb show too!).
two step to close the set. i've listened to a lot of the recordings from the spring and summer tour so far and carter absolutely tore this one a new ass. timmy was amazing to lead into carter's epic solo. CARTER IS A BEAST (and he is so much fun to watch, blowin bubbles, smiling, and laughing during the show)
THE ENCORE:
rye whiskey. dave sounded really good. love his voice on this one. that rough quality that he has in his voice really shines in this.
time bomb. what a perfect transition song for this encore. starts off quiet and then blows up leading perfectly into:
HALLOWEEN. I finally realized the full allure of this song in concert. absolutely ridiculous energy. dave just destroys this with his vocals giving every bit of himself to it.

Wowowowowowow! Opened with bartender and ends with 2step. Carter with a sick solo in 2step. The song that jane likes and pig were great. Ants marching incredible as always. And the stone was undescribably good. And that's pretty much the highlights. Better than spac by far. Oh yeah, halloween was pretty cool too.

Def a 5 star show. From the opener of Bartender, the band did not let up for a moment. The new songs flow so well and fit in perfectly. Why I Am is a must-see live. But it was the other songs that made this the perfect show. Crush, Two Step, Ants, Dreaming Tree, Pig, The Stone, Typical Situation, Song that Jane Likes were all spectacular. Then came Halloween. Words can't describe how cool that was. Great show!!!
