Same jam songs as their previous visit: Everyday, Dreaming Tree, Jimi Thing. Come on. When YMDT opened I thought I was in for a really explosive show boy was I wrong.
Rest assured I was on the Internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world.

Highlights - Eh Hee, Corn Bread, Jimi Thing jam, Hey Hey, My My, Thank You. Lowlights - Sister, Stolen Away, ending with Too Much...even though SMTS->ASTB->TM is always sweet, one more solid closer would have been nice. Wasn't a big fan of ending with Thank You but it was very well done, super high energy.

One of the highest energy shows I have ever seen these guys perform- they seemed so happy and energetic on stage, it just got the crowd so hyped up and they seemed to really be loving every single song they were playing
It wasn't the best setlist I've ever seen, but they managed to make each song unbelievable!

While 04.19.02 ranks as my least favourite Toronto show, last night's show did NOT have a good setlist.
Key tunes that should have shown up somewhere but did not:
Shotgun, LIOG, Two Step, Ants Marching, Pay For What You Get, Recently>Water/Wine, Bartender and Billies.
Nancies > Stolen Away does NOT work at all.
Everyday has been played far too much and it just ain't that great a tune.
Highlights were So Damn Lucky, Dreaming Tree, Jimi Thing, the covers in the encore and an absolutely ripping performance of Too Much.
Setlist was 2-stars, the band's performance was 5-stars. Overall I give it 3.5, but because there are no "half" star ratings I'll give it 4.
Sat in SEC 101 Row K

5th show in TO for us. Musically it was the best performance of the 5 however the set list was a little too laid back to take advantage of how tight they were. Highlight for us was YMDT and the encore.

Although not the best show I've seen them do, it was still a really good show. The extended outro to So Damn Lucky and Thank You were the highlights. Dreaming Tree and the Eh Hee debut were also nice to see. Oh and being 4th row kicked ass!

I've been to every Dave Matthews show in Toronto the last 7 years and by far this for me was the worst setlist. Band was as tight as ever but the song choices for me just sucked. actually the last 2 shows here have been a disappointment. Highlight was Hey Hey My My. just my opinion!

not gonna lie, the show seemed a little too mellow last night, but thinking back it really was an awesome performance, some of the jams last night were nothing short of epic
jimi thing was my favorite ive ever heard off of anything, ever, got my first one sweet world which was wicked
im appreciating eh hee more and more as i think about it, im really glad he played it, YMDT as an opener? sooo good with the tim jam
my buddy and i were hoping maybe just maybe neil young would come out for some cortez and hey hey my my, maybe next year
the amph is such a sick venue, after being at darien lake, i forgot how nice it is here in toronto, good show, good times

Great parts....but just good show. Dreaming Tree jam was the best DT i've heard so far. EyHee was so energetic and loud...great. Nancies was perfect and Jimithing could never go wrong. Beyond that just ok. Hey Hey My My was definately appreciated up here in canada but totally expected. I guess they used up a lot of the classics the night before.
06/09/08, 06/10/08, 06/17/08, 06/18/08....nothing now until Virginia Beach seeya there!!!

Dave Matthews Band
June 18, 2008
Molson Amphitheatre, Toronto, Ontario
Preshow ~ before the show my buddies and I headed to little italy to pick up some italian bread for my family. Toronto is # 1 place in the world for good people. the voodoo lounge was fun im glad i got to see you guys tonight! thanks to steve for setting that up!
**This Venue is now one of my top 3 venues in north america!! EVERYONE should go to Molson**
You Might Die Trying ~ Nice opener Standard YMDT.
Old Dirt Hill ~ i like the opening to this song. very fresh.
Grey Street ~ first real crowd pleaser. good song nothing special
Everyday ~ another radio fav. thats 2 now
Corn Bread ~ this song is getting really good. alot of power and energy in this baby! im liking it.
So Damn Lucky ~ i love the full band. SDL is such a heavy tune. the best part is when dave & boyd do the round round round round round round
The Dreaming Tree ~ started DT. nice lead into the next one.
Eh Hee ~ best song of the night. soo powerful! alot of people know the words and they sang!
Sister ~ Dave seems to think people dont like this song. he said he was going to play this song and it will be over soon... odd. but good song
Dancing Nancies ~ prolly the crowds 3rd fav of the night. dave said he wished he was someplace in Texas.... :confused i dunno if he got confused or something.
Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd ~ standard song. ehh
One Sweet World ~ another radio song.
Jimi Thing ~ prolly the longest jam here and this is what finally got the crowd into the evening. boyd killed begging, timmy killed the end. great.
The Idea Of You ~ ehhh it sounds ok :)
So Much To Say ...> Radio hit # 6. standard SMTS
Anyone Seen the Bridge? ...> this was great!!!! the guys stood still like statues for 2 minutes. they would play one note and then wait to see what the crowd would do. then they would do another. as we got louder they played louder. pretty fun.
Too Much ~ good closer. nothing special with radio hit # 7
Encore:
Hey Hey My My ~ crowd loved it and so did I. I havent heard it before tonight and it sounded remarkable!
Gravedigger ~ good song. better @ star lake.
Thank You ~ I really dig this cover. but star lake night 1 was better.
closing:
I have to say i love Toronto very much. you guys i met were amazing and i hope to see you another show this year. Matt, steve, janet, jess, and the rest of you thank you for being soo gracious to us :)
The show was very mellow tonight. standard setlis and a low key crowd at times make this show # 3 out 3 shows i saw this year. Star Lake N1 then N2 were better.
Grade : B
Love You Canada!
Im going to bed :freak

This being my first show of the tour, I'll give you a song by song breakdown.
YMDT - Did not expect this at all to open. Very surprised and very intrigued to find out what this sounds like sans Butch. It ended up being a great opener. Very fresh!
Old Dirt Hill - This song blows... HOWEVER, they totally reworked it and gave it a breezy vibe. Very islandy. I actually really enjoyed it and they played the bridge twice, which imo is the best part of the song.
Grey Street - Solid version of the song. The band has tons of energy, but I've heard this plenty so I'm not entirely into it. Still a great performance tho.
Everyday - See Grey Street.
Corn Bread - Awesome! Tim tore it up.
So Damn Lucky - I love this song. So glad to hear it. The jam at the end was incredible. Such a sweet groove. One of their best this summer.
The Dreaming Tree - This song has really turned into a Pink Floyd-esque song as soon as Dave finishes with the lyrics. It's truly brilliant.
Eh Hee - Loved it.
Sister - Boring! I like dave's little jittery chords on this one, but I'm not a fan of the melody. That being said, I understand the band needs a breather so that's cool. I still enjoyed it.
Nancies - Awesome! Didn't expect it at all.
Stolen Away - I dislike Stand Up because all of the songs on the album sound rushed. Since 2005, though, the band has retooled and evolved the bulk of those songs to make them pretty darn good. I am still waiting for them to do this for Stolen Away... Band breather number 2.
OSW - Classic.
Jimi Think - A monster. Everyone shined on this, especially Rashawn who seems to have eaten Butch because I can't find him anywhere on stage.
Idea of You - I was so pissed during this song. The band soundchecked Shotgun today so when the tiny, little guitar came out, I was cheering to get my head blown off. Shotgun never came and I died a little inside.
SMTS, ASTB, Too Much - I didn't want this to close the set because I wanted the set to go on forever, but this was probably the highlight of the night for me. I was dancing all up and down my aisle to the displeasure of those nearest to me. Sorry guys.
Hey Hey My My - We're in Canada, so of course me and my buddies knew this was the cover dave was gonna break out. It was good, really good, but you can't dance to it, and that kinda bummed me out. I wanted money, but I shouldn't complain. It was pretty quality.
Gravedigger - Full band. Pretty good. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it.
Thank You - Not my ideal encore, but I made the best of it and danced the shit out of Thank You. I danced so crazily that the chick beside me started copying my moves.
Overall, a pretty good set list that was elevated to greater heights by a wonderful and incredibly energetic performance. I felt at the start of the show that it was gonna go south, but the band played their hearts out. I look forward to my next show... whenever the hell that is.

it had been two years since my last DMB show and I really enjoyed it , yes it was a mellow set in places, but the rockin tunes were awesome as were the mellow ones. Eh hee was the best for me, in performance. Dreaming Tree is in my top ten and it was amazing, the outro had an almost Tool vibe for about 12 bars, then dave and fonz got into a different thing, with tim soloing over it, and then the horns, then carter brings it down to a heartbeat. Epic, the boys put more music in an outro than most bands do a song. I like stand up, and I realy enjoyed YMDT, Old dirt hill was breezy, california style, grey street was off a little at first, but it is a cool crowd pleaser. Everyday is what it is, from there I was expecting some big tunes like Two Step, ants, crash or crush, but no, and I'm glad, I've seen them every show. I love the full band Gravedigger, so damn lucky, Hey hey my my, I mean it's TO, dave didn't need to sing it we sang it for them, I really like how they mixed the into the blueinto the black versions, and Thank You was awesome, as I had seen before, dave going off, pulling his plugs out to hear the crowd singing to him, really capped off a good night.I missed nancies, stolen away & OSW because my sister in law passed out, on her way to pee, my wife came back all panicky, my sis runs off. So I grab all the coats bags and shit and go out and there gone, Iwaited at the bathroom for 20 minutes, checked the seats, went back to the washroom, finally found my wife and got back to see jimithing. I was pissed, she was ok, but still 90$ tickets, I feel like she owes me 10 to 15 bucks LOL. Not the best show I have seen by the boys, but still really good. Every song was played well, the crowd could have been a little better, the band has a good time in TO, and It would be cool for 2 nights, the y would both sell out. Sorry for a long review, but people are really jaded, best live band on the planet IMO. If you want to hear the sets from the 90's, stay home and listen to sets from the 90's, it's time o move on. PEACE.

Best part for me by far was the Encore ending of "Thank You!" The whole band really brought the energy and did not disappoint their Canadian fans.
A little more on the new and Some Devil stuff than I would have liked....the classics as always like Dancing Nancies, Jimi Thing, One Sweet World (who's intro was awesome I might add, So Much to Say and Too Much aer the ones that really got me up and out of my seat.
Sister would have been even more meaningful and enjoyable had my own not got up out of her seat to go buy a drink at the same time they played it :(
For sure this will be one of my better shows attended...next time for all you fans out there I want to hear more sing-along with Everyday.
Peace
