This was my 6th show at Alpine Valley and it was by far the best. The show the day before was not dave's best performance, but he made up for it on sunday july 2nd. It was a solid setlist all around. Never a dull moment during the whole show. Also I met dave's personal trainer who was sitting in the sound tent right next to my seat, and right before the encore he gave me a copy of the setlist.

This was by far the best DMB show I have ever been to. DMB rocked the crowd with "Don't Drink the Water" as an opener. They busted out so many surprises during this show that I didn't know what to do. They played some rarely heard tracks like "Proudest Monkey," "Satellite," "The Song That Jane Likes," "The Last Stop," "Typical Situation," "Grace is Gone," and "JTR." Also, the new song, "The Idea Of You," was amazing and definitely got the crowd riled up in anticipation of a new DMB studio album. Also, the transition from "Warehouse" into "Louie, Louie" was aweseome! And during "Smooth Rider," a fan threw a pair of large, white sunglasses on stage, which Dave put on for the whole crowd to see! Like I said, this was my favorite DMB show yet! I just hope that the rumors aren't true about Alpine Valley being torn down, because I would love to see Dave rock the stage at Alpine for many years to come. If anyone has info on this, let me know!

Incredible show that even managed to top Saturday's. The band seemed loose and having a great time. "Warehouse" and "Typical Situation" were OFF THE CHAIN! Umphrey's McGee's set was fire as well, culminating in a version of "Partyin Peeps" that had the majestic old shed buzzing before DMB took the stage. What a weekend, hats off to the entire DMB and Alpine Valley crews for another flawless production.

This was my 9th show and the best one so far. A great set list. Nancies to Warehouse to Typical - WOW! And Pig! Gotta love Pig! A fantastic encore with JTR & Stay!
I had great seats. 11th row center! Even my bad eyes could see the bad was having the time of their lives. The best moment came at what should have been the end of Grace is Gone. Carter shared a look with Boyd, smiled then changed the tempo. Boyd ran with it and the two of them had a little conversation/competition - drums vs violin. When it was all done Dave was so blown away he took a break to discuss it with Carter. He was imitating Boyd as he spoke. Then when he noticed the audience was still there, he did the same impression for us. Fantastic night!---And, oh yeah. I want this show as a Live Trax. I want this show as a DVD!

WOW! I was speechless after this show. They played the best show yet this year and by far the best show I have ever seen. The return of The Last Stop made my night. After that I didn't care what they did, but they continued to suprise me. Nancies > Warehouse, Typical, and Grace is Gone had amazing jams. The night finished with an amzing encore of JTR and Stay. This was an amazing weekend that I will remember forever!

This was my 6th show, and probably my best. Huge contrast from the first show, which was, although fun and very solid, also predictable and a bit boring. I also saw many songs for the first time at this show, which was a great plus.
Don't Drink the Water. One of their best openers, and it was definitely fire. First time seeing it at all, and it was excellent. Dave's vocals are a bit rough, but the song was an incredible start. Everyday had to be played, and I was glad they got it out of the way early. Not a bad song to see live, can't believe how much the awful crowd loved it, though. Proudest Monkey was very quiet, but is a great song, although the crowd got a bit noisy. Dave's vocals were again harsh at times on Satellite, but it was a very stirring rendition. The Song That Jane Likes was a fantastic surprise, and The Last Stop was an even greater one. Just an amazing playing, especially considering it was the first time played in three years. Dave's vocals are spot on for the most part, and Rashawn Ross and LeRoi have some very nice horn arrangements. The outro is in tune, surprisingly, as well. If I Had it All was a bit weak coming after Last Stop, but it turned out very nicely, and is a very solid song, in my opinion. Good run to start off the show.
Dancing Nancies > Warehouse > Typical Situation was where the show really turned into a classic. Up to this point, the show was excellent, but this run showed that the band was going to keep it up throughout. Very long run of music. Dancing Nancies was loud and intense, with what seemed like sort of a new-ish jam behind Boyd's soloing. Dave and Stefan were really getting into the accompaniment, and the whole thing sounded fantastic. Warehouse and Typical really showed off LeRoi and Rashawn. Was nice to hear LeRoi tease Shortenin' Bread during his solo in Warehouse, and the solo-trading in Typical Situation was incredible.
The Idea of You was well placed following that huge run, and is a very solid Crash Into Me-type song. This is a keeper. Grace Is Gone was another big jam, surpisingly, and although it was a bit disappointing at first, the song is a classic, and the hoedown outro was very good. Boyd and Carter really kicked in the accelerando before slowing back down. This was followed perfectly by Pig, which was moving, as always. This run, from Nancies through Pig, was probably the best of the night. Amazing old stuff throughout.
Digging A Ditch was a little slow, and the crowd did not like it, but it is a very good song. I thought Smooth Rider would be awful, but this version really made me a believer. Dave picked up the sunglasses before the song, and he really sang with some impact. Plus, the ending jam with Rashawn's muted solo is fantastic. Some nice interpolations by Rashawn, and just a very pleasing, jazzy solo. Rapunzel was the perfect closer, as it just brought the energy way back up. Fantastic jam, with LeRoi and Rashawn again taking the lead. Dave's vocals were a bit shot by this time, but this song is about the ending solos.
The encore was a bit of a letdown, as I was hoping for Two Step, but JTR and Stay had a ton of energy, and were fun songs all the way through. JTR was just fantastic, and Dave was quite clearly into the vocals on Stay. Great capper on a fantastic show, one of the best of the summer for sure.

Absolutely. Freakin. Phenomenal. I never thought I could respect and appreciate the band any more than I already do, but after they ripped the roof off for a solid three hours, I have an immense new level of appreciation. Boyd was an absolute psycho each night, running all over the stage, and pouring it all in, especially in the new Grace is Gone jam session, which was way better than the great version I last heard in Bonner Springs this year. Dave's sunglasses on Smooth Rider brought back some great memories of Bonner Springs, and the crowd went absolutely wild. By far, the best set list I've ever seen or heard--Our group of four all had one song we wanted to hear, and all four of our songs were played--how can you not be happy? I guess really three words sum up the entire weekend: THE LAST STOP!!!!!
I've wanted to hear that song for years. Alpine is an amazing venue--I hope to make this a yearly tradition. Hopefully we'll get Minarets next year.

This was my first dave concert and I was absolutely blown away. I've been listening to them for a long time so I had pretty high expectations and they were blown out of the water. Tailgating is insane and the show was unlike anything I've ever seen. The whole band was on top of their game and I've never heard them play better. I love DMB.

Where do i start? This show was sick. Hands down the best i've seen from the band. DDTW was a great opener. Dancing Nancies was outrageous with a Boyd solo of about 6 or 7 minutes. Warehouse with a little Louie Louie was great. Typical Situation was phenominal and probably 18-20 minutes long. Idea of you and Grace is gone were also well played. Smooth Rider was slow but picked up when Dave put those glasses on haha. Pantala into an AMAZING Rapunzel with a sick jam. Stay capped off the show. I wish that they woulda ended with Watchtower because Stephan could have played the star-spangled banner for the 4th of July weekend but none the less it was AMAZING!

The band had an energy this night that I had never seen from them before. Alpine Valley came through with another great show. The setlist had no flaws. Incredible show from start to finish. Great 2001 intro to Don't Drink The Water. The Idea of You is a great new song. It was also special to hear The Song That Jane Likes, one of my favorites. Great salsa jam at the outro of Warehouse. The Last Stop was full of energy and flare in its return. Also great to hear Dancing Nancies and Pig. The Encore was a pleasant surprise with JTR and Stay. Overall, this show was a great way to finish off the weekend. I look forward to next year. Thanks DMB!

9th Show total and 3rd of the summer and I can truly say that this setlist ousted anything that I have heard this amazing band play before. Last Stop was UNREAL and AMAZING to say the least... and finally got to hear Pig! After being at Saturday's show in the 13th row, I had no idea they would blow us all away again on Sunday. All in all definitely an enjoyable return to Alpine Valley. We left D.C. at around 9pm Friday, arrived Saturday mid-morning, and left for the return trip at about 2am Monday after the 2nd show. This review covers both shows. The highlights begin with the songs I’ve never seen live before: Pay For What You Get, Proudest Monkey, The Last Stop, and Sister. All were terrific. The new songs are just awesome too; I’m really liking Can’t Stop more and more and hope they tie it into either Smooth Rider or Last Stop (how cool would it be for him to change the last line of the song to “…and it’s the last stop” and then blast into it?). Also cool over the two days: fantastic performances of Seek Up, Jimi Thing, Bayou, Crush (Rashawn is killing on that song), Ants (despite a mammoth lyric f-up), and Nancies -> Warehouse -> Typical Situation (here’s to hoping they turn that duo into the regular trifecta). And now the bad: first off, thank you for playing all the crap songs you’ve been playing during this tour on the first night. It really set things up for a phenomenal setlist on night two. Before I list them, I preface it by saying that they’re crap for one of three reasons: (1) they’re entirely overplayed either on the radio or live; (2) they just aren’t that interesting and leave no room for improvisation; or (3) they are the type of song that draws out a crowd only looking for said song who will talk or go to the bathroom during something truly great (quote from the girl in front of me during Seek Up: “What is this?”). These songs include Hunger for the Great Light, What Would You Say (these two are tied for my most seen songs lives), When the World Ends, Too Much, Crash, and Where Are You Going. I’m getting a little sick of Stay too, and especially would rather have heard anything else in an encore. I think that night two definitely blew night one out of the water, with the exception of the encore. And now the bad part two: if you are on the lawn and we either made physical contact during the shows, or I could hear your voice during any song, at any point, I despise you. Some of us go to CONCERTS to listen to MUSIC. Dave shows are NOT an event made solely for you to drink in the parking lot and scream in the venue. To those of you who tried to walk between my buddies and I, who were standing shoulder to shoulder in what should be a low-traffic area, and we did not move after you physically tried to separate us, please take an example from those who said “Excuse Me.” We moved for them without a peep. To those of you who are satisfied at Crash, please keep in mind that some of us would like to hear the intricacies of the quiet solos in Seek Up without your ruminations on life at 120 decibels. I don’t mind if you don’t know the music, just listen to it. And stop chanting for Two Step. If they want to play it, they'll play it. I don't want to hear it half-assed because of you losers screaming for it. The music is what it’s about, I saw some phenomenal performances, and I can honestly say the 1,700 miles of driving was well worth it. Especially if the current rumors (that the Alpine Valley Music Theatre will be torn down within the next year) are true. I can also honestly say that it’s time for DMB to raise the ticket prices. We need more people who care about the music, and less people who don’t have a clue what manners are. Four shows down, four to go! See everyone in NYC and Charlottesville.

Look at the set list. This was a gem of a concert. The opener "Everyday" was full of energy and foreshadowed what would come. "The Last Stop" came on the crowd was as loud as I've ever heard it. "JTR", one of my personal favorites was played in the encore and the whole concert is full of relatively rare songs. Yet another unbelievable trip to Alpine Valley.

I called DDTW as the opener earlier in the week and it was very fulfilling to hear it live. Kinda felt Last Stop coming at some point this weekend due to soundcheck, but it rocked me nonetheless. That, in combination with a great Warehouse and Pig, blew my mind. Sunglasses on Dave for Smooth Rider = perfect and ending with Stay always bittersweet. This may be the best set list I’ve ever heard live. It was as diverse as last night’s was mainstream. Before the show I told my brother Dave had something up his sleeve after all of last night’s radio hits. Having heard Last Stop in the soundcheck the day before I had a gut feeling it would be played. DMB loves the Alpine and the Alpine loves them back. Because sure enough, they played it and the joint just about exploded. It’s been a long three years without that song. Two notes into it I thought my heart was going to explode. Every DMB fan should get to hear that song live before they die. TSTJL blew me away. It’s a song nobody talks about, but is one my top ten favorites. After playing those two songs back to back Dave could have spent the rest of the night covering Bon Jovi and I wouldn’t have cared. But instead we got a Nancies/Warehouse/Typical trifecta, Idea (my favorite of the new songs–stuck in my head ever since Sunday night), GIG w/ Boyd’s crazy bluegrass outro, and Pig (always awesome.) Thank God DAD came next because I don’t think I could’ve handled any more. Smooth Rider is a super cool song made even cooler when Dave got some crazy white framed sunglasses on and rocked out the last verse. Anyone else tries that and they’re a dork, but Dave can pull it off because he’s the coolest dude in the history of civilization. PNG–>Rapunzel followed by a JTR/Stay encore completed a set that was a murderer’s row and a night I’ll never forget.

I do not even want to write comments on this show because I feel as though if I do, it may seem as though I was not there. But had I not been, it would have been the biggest disappointment of my life. So many new songs I have never heard before I cannot get over it!! Who knew they would have been able to improve over last year's Sunday night show?? There are so many highlights, and six songs from BTCS???? Son of a bitch. Last Stop was definitely the highlight for me. But Pig, JTR, Digging A Ditch, DDTW and Song That Jane Likes and Grace Is Gone along with Proudest Monkey>>>Satellite were also the big winners. UNREAL is all that I can think of when I think about this night. I was in the 3rd row here (thanks warehouse) and about 15th at Red Rocks on Sat and Sun, and this ranks right with sunday night at the rocks. Last Stop who would have thunk it, Monkey and Tip Sit where great to here again and dave in the glasses was pricless. One of my favorite parts was in the grace is gone jam they started to play Dixie Magic (it goes "I wanna here some funky dixie magic and momma gonna take me by the hand ...) anyway it was just the shit to be at alpine 3rd row. Great show! The people that saw both the Saturday (7-1) and Sunday shows (7-2) universally said that this was the superior show. Saturday's highlight was the encore, which was a bit too short on Sunday. I thought people took off way too fast after the 2nd encore song... but the show was so jam packed of great music and there was no skimping on the amount of time played, that I guess everyone had their fill.

Can anybody say Live Trax 6.......The whole weekend was amazing, I just don't know where to begin...from the night 1 encore that never wanted to end....to the non-stop array of classics on night 2. Since this is a night 2 review, I'll stick to it as much as possible. Whenever there is a DDTW opener, you know you are in for an eventful night. As the night progressed, song after song of "true" hits such as PM->Satellite, Dancing Nancies->Warehouse, Typ Sit, PIG, , G.I.G., Song that Jane Likes, If I had it all, D.A.D., and of course....LAST STOP!!! It was finally a treat this weekend to finally hear all of the new songs in person (especially sister). Smooth Rider is always a plus now, especially when he gets into charcater with the shades. Raunzel to close the set was amazing as usual, and a JTR, Stay encore completed an unforgettable night. I did not think anything could top 5th row on night 1 (thank you warehouse), but it did, and there is only one word that can describe myself right now....speechless. Alpine is truly a special place, and the guys definitely fed off the energy and rocked out the place. I'll stop rambling, because nothing I say can give this night (both nights) any justice. Laid out on a blanket (picnic-style) on the lawn outside the gates. We could hear everything great and it was a great show - hearing The Last Stop live was big for me! Would've rather been inside though.
