Unbelievable...#41 opener, LIOG, AB intro->Say Goodbye, Time of the Season, PNP->Rapunzel closer, were all highlights, but the encore absolutely blew me away. I had hoped for a BOWA opener, but getting it in the E1 slot was so much better, and to follow it up with an unbelievable WYA just topped the night off for me. Absolutely Amazing.

This show was pretty fuckin sweet! The first three songs said it all... an amazing 41 to open (ive never seen that to open before), a great really old song in one sweet world, and a new song that has really come to life and become a huge jam in Bayou... rapunzel got the crowd really going at the end and a weirdly placed, but awesome best of what's around was incredible... another great night at alpine!

Solid show to begin the weekend. Highlights I'd say included Lie in Our Graves, Rapunzel, and Louisiana Bayou, AB Intro --> Say Goodbye. Good to see the usual energy from Boyd, and seeing him spread it to all corners of the stage was great. Speaking generally of the two shows this weekend- Stefan had a surprisingly large amount of energy, and really appeared to be having a good time. Thanks to the band and the good parts of the crowd for a great night one.

So much energy last night. #41, my first song ever, was a great opener. American Baby Intro into Say Goodbye was absloutely mindblowing. Butch's Time of the Season solo was awesome as usual. Dave did some cool guitar stuff during Smooth Rider. and then...... Lie In Our Graves. Best song of the night IMO. Boyd went insane, He danced around the stage the a madman during his incredible solo. The whole band rocked hard on Bartender and Rapunzel, a great way to close the set. BOWA and WYA for an encore was amazing.

Freakin' great show...got front row of the lawn, right up against the concrete moat thing. What You Are was great. I have to say I REALLY enjoyed Pantala Naga Pampa/Rapunzel as a closer. Was not expecting to hear The Best Of What's Around as the first song of the encore, also Lie In Our Graves was awesome along with #41 and One Sweet World...and the new songs...Smooth Rider, Hunger For The Great Light, Louisiana Bayou, great...awesome show
User: clangenfeld
Review:
This was a wierd set list. As a complete show, the songs didn't flow well, but each song taken individually, they were spectacular. I'd list some highlights but it would be almost the entire show! I had heard BOWA as the opener at my first show 7 years ago and had been waiting as patiently as I could to hear it again, so I was quite emotional during this encore. Overall, this was a good night. The crew notes after this show were wonderful to read and got me even more pumped up for Sunday night!

The best show I've been to. Hands down greattt set. 41 was a terrific opener. Bayou packed so much energy it was great. AB intro into Say Goodbye was unbelievable. TOTS was awesome. LIOG was the highlight of the night and a great jam. Bartender and then Rapunzel was the best possible way to end the set. The change of Stolen away to BOWA was perfect, and for the first time i did not care the wya closed because it was a great versoin and i was on such a high from the magnificent show i had just witnessed.

This show was Alpine never failsick, no other way to put it....the truth is the Sunday show was the best show any major and minor dave fan would want to see. The set included every song you would want to hear. But the saturday shows more mellow approach was a good warm up for sunday, 41 was a great intro but what you are is a weak closer. The highlight of the night was Louisiana Bayou and Lie in our Graves.s.

Just the very best shows ever! Look at the two nights....you can't beat the setlists! I would pay a fortune to have the hand written setlist to these shows. by the numbers for the last two nights... 41,36,34 and.....!!!40!! then by the names... OSW, Say Goodbye, Rhyme and Reason, LIOG and BOWA! That was just Saturday. Everyday, Nancies->Warehouse, Jimi Thing, YNK, Crush and Two Step! I would argue with anyone that this is, by far the Best Venue to date in 2005!! A Must see and a must hear!!! Also for me it was great meeting some people that we all know, or have seen, on this site! Thanks Damian for enriching the great Alpine experience..can't wait to see what comes up!!

Satrday night was the best show I have been to yet. Especially with O.A.R. as an opener! Thanks to Bud for giving me great seats! It's the closest I've been to dave so far! Alpine is deffinetly one of th greatest venue's & Dave agreed when he said "I love this place". The whole weekend was a blast except for friday night at the campgroud. The tent my boyfriend and I were sleeping in got ran over by a jeep grand cherokee! Luckily this guy only ran over half of it and we managed to get on the other side of the tent, but it deffinetly was the scarist moment of my entire life. The funny thing is that why I was bracing myself to get ran over i thought to myself, "I'm not going to get to see the show!" Anyways Im glad God was watching over us and thanks DMB for another awesome show!

Me and a friend of mine went to this concert, and we ended up gettin' an awesome spot, because we made friends with the people next to us and in front of us. But anyways, our spots were awesome because the group next to us laid down these 4 blankets in front os us, and wouldn't let anyone stand on the blankets, only sit. So it ended up litterally being about 10-12 feet of open area in front of us, so we all got to see the whole band, and we really had an even better view when O.A.R played, because the Alpine wasn't as full yet, but anwyays, AN AWESOME CONCERT and a shitload of fun!

I was pretty disappointed, even more than in \'03 I think. Following Hunger/AB Intro>Say Goodbye, which was a terrific run, things got pretty mellow and predictable. Great show! Was not expecting #41 as the opener though...it could've had more upbeat songs in the first half but once they got to Rhyme & Reason it was even better! OMG....what a show. Opened with #41, then right into One Sweet World. Well to make a long story short, that is exactly what i was thinking to myself the entire show, this is One Sweet World haha. He played other great songs like Say Goodbye, Time of the Season cover, Rhyme and Reason, Lie in Our Graves, Lover Lay Down, Best of What Around, Bartender, PNP Rupunzel, and the What You Are was, until the Madison show, the most intense performance by Dave ive ever seen.
One complaint about the venue was overpopulation. At Noblesville theres plenty of room to dance and get crazy to feel the moment, but this felt like one of those trains during the Holocaust. The setlist made up for it.

An absolutely amazing day, topped off by an awesome show. Started tailgating about 2:30 and had a blast through all the rain, black and green skies...a wild time. But the weather cleared up and DMB put on quite the show. As a side note, props to the band for both delaying the start of the show so everyone could make it into the venue, and also for playing such a full bodied set for a late start...Anyway, #41 is something special as an opener and right then and there you could tell the band was bringing it all. Louisiana Bayou continues to be a beast of a song and doubling that up with Hunger was perfect. American Baby intro was everything I hoped it would be and sending that into Say Goodbye was about as perfect as it gets. Time of the Season has gotten more refined since the start of the tour and that was a nice fit. I was really hoping for, but a little surprised that they pulled out Graves...but it was great, Boyd went nuts as usual, and then a big surprise putting away the stuff off Stand Up towards the end of the show and finishing the main show out with a solid Bartender and massive Rapunzel and then coming back with a shocker in BOWA and a pretty good WYA in the encore. All in all, I really can't complain about much of anything. Any lowlights like Dreamgirl or LLD were easily offset by the energy the band put into everything else. This was my first trip to Alpine and I'm still lost on what exactly anyone sees in the place, but if the band likes it and wants to play a set like that and what followed Sunday night, then who am I to complain about the steepness of the lawn, how run down the pavilion looks, or how miserable it is getting out of the parking lot? Truly a great DMB experience. Oh yeah, OAR was great too...one of the best opening acts out there...

I almost missed this show due to prior drinking before the concert; but ten minutes before Dave went I regroup and made it to the top of Alpine Valley Hill right as they were starting the intro to #41. I definately got lucky the they started the show a half hour late due to the weather. I got REALLY LUCKY. I would have been upset if I had missed this show. Even though I felt like crap, Dave was definately the medicine to my pain. Too bad where we were people were passing out one at a time. Definately a little damper on the show for my friends, but I just kept paying attention to the concert. Even when one of my friends passed out. Dave was playing Say Goodbye!

Mother of God. My first Dave show and I don't think I could have asked for a better show (encore was a little weak, though). #41 was a great opener, lots of energy and the crowd was really feeling it. Rhyme & Reason is one of my current favs, so that was good. LIOG was ridiculous, Boyd was a madman on the violin during the jam part of the song. Rapunzel was awesome, Dave was a dancing human tornado. The new songs sound great, especially bayou and im also a fan of die trying. Glad they played time of the season, really like that cover. See you all again today.

Well....in my review of the Tinley Park concert I wrote how I hoped the band would bring back songs that were not played in 2003. So what do they do? How about "Say Goodbye," "You Never Know," "#40," "#34," "What You Are," "Dreaming Tree" teases. So now we can add 'mind readers' to the list of the bands never ending talents. The show was amazing but the crowd around me in the lawn was not as into it as I was. It was cool how they really backed away from Stand Up songs, not that I do not love them, and played a bunch of old school songs. Especially at the end. This is the only concert of the tour so far that they have played two old songs in the encore. #41, my fav, is always a pleasure. Boyd went completely insane during LIOG. Just lost his mind. All over the stage smiling and dancing. AB Intro>>>Say Goodbye was the other highlight. Beautiful!! Had no idea what would be in store for the second night though....

This show was awesome. 15 row for my first dmb concert! #41 to start followed by One Sweet World was great. The new songs were fantastic live, just as I hoped. I was so excited that they played Lie in Our Graves and The Best of What's Around. First show at Alpine didn't disapoint.

My friends and I were taking bets on the opener, and I picked #41 and was made fun of for it all the way to our seats. WHO'S LAUGHING NOW? Thats right.
IMHO, this one one of the best shows I've been to. I mean, he played say goodbye...I've been waiting to here say goodbye for years, and I haven't been lucky until now. LIOG was amazing.

#41 opener was completely out of the blue. Decent setlist, Bartender was great to hear. All in all a solid performance, but average compared to sunday night.

Best dmb show I've been to, to date. Best of What's Around was amazing...the jam on Lie in Our Graves continues to make me crazy no matter how many times I hear it.. Great concert.

Great Show! Atmosphere is what makes Alpine Valley so special, despite no ultra rare songs debuting on the setlist.

Amazing energy! I've found that the crowd differs greatly where you are at, and we were lucky to be by some great fans.
This is the best show I've seen so far. there were some problems with Rapunzel...but otherwise an amazing show!

Great show! Very mellow, but they added some songs (LIOG, 41, BOWA) that just got the crowd going. My 6th show at Alpine, never a disappointment!

Awesome show. Great way to open, and BOWA in the encore was flippin' great. Still can't believe I got #41, Say Goodbye, LIOG, and BOWA in the same show. Still not a huge fan of WYA as a closer, but it was a great version, and overall, the setlist was way above average. It's obvious DMB really does love Alpine!

Just a fantastic show. Start to finish the energy never stopped. I had a friend come with me to see DMB for the first time and he was rockin out throughout the whole show. Considering that only a year ago he was an adamant DMB hater, its quite a remarkable turnaround and a great first show for him. Couldnt stop singin and dancin all night long. Highlights were AB Intro->Say Goodbye, LIOG and BOWA (quite a surprise since I was expecting something from Stand Up here). Lowlights were not hearing Recently or Seek Up.

I went both days at alpine... 23rd & 24th... both were amazing. They did play more up beat and seemed to have a lot more energy the first day than the second, though. But the second day was still an amazing event i wouldnt have missed.

The first thing I thought when #41 started was WOW. I'm so damn glad i waited in that car line for this, i was sweating because my friends and I tried to run down the highway to get to the concert faster, and I was covered head to toe in mud, but when Dave started playing everything was perfect for 3 hours. One Sweet World was sick - the sax was perfect, then Say Goodbye came soon after that, what a goddamn classic. Beautiful. Dreamgirl was perfect, my favorite song from Stand up. The highlight of the night, I thought, had to be Lie In Our Graves. OSW and SG were amazing, but the 17 min LIOG sesh was insane. I thought the song was over, and 10 minutes later "I CANT BELIEVE THAT WE WOULD LIE IN OUR GRAVES" and shit i didnt beleive it. The end of the show was spectacular - Bartender, Lover Lay Down (dubb Alpine shows now), Pantala (sick), Rapunzel and then best of whats around to make my night the best one ive ever lived. I liked the end of the show a lot, but the beginning was kind of slow - I dont relaly like the new stuff. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than expected. Last year was great too. thanks dave

This was my 2nd best show out of 4. They really came out strong with #41 and OSW. It kept good, but i thought it lacked energy during smooth rider which really killed the flow. They picked it up again with LIOG and kept it going all the way through. PNP Rapunzel was unbelievable. Dave was dancing like i'd never seen before. The crowd seemed really into it and once again like 7-6-03, it stayed dry during the show.

Been to approx. 35 shows now and this one was top dog... the stars were aligned this night... the crowd was electric... the venue breathtaking... the flow of the show unparalleled... 41 opener was a great way to kick it off... bayou early was nice... 1st time hearing baby intro... i'm a fan... time of the season is a great cover... LIOG, LLD, Bartender, Pantala > Rapunzel to end the set ... WHOA! the encore was a pleasant suprise as it was the 1st time all tour he gave us 2 oldies instead of some filler from Stand Up ... BoWA was great, and What You Are gets stronger everytime they play it
