This was a great show. It was one of the best setlists of the concerts that I've attended. One Sweet World was a great opener. I loved hearing Granny, #41, Warehouse, Joy Ride, Hello Again...all awesome. Encore was solid...Crush and Too Much. The re-worked Too Much, with a new little jam and the lil' john outro, is great to hear. Neil Young came on and rocked the house! I would say that he was maybe on for a little too long though...Rockin' The Free World was great to hear but I would rather have heard just the DMB version of Watchtower. The crowd was great. I was in the 4th row which was unreal! Grey Street is always a great song to hear and it was nothing short of that tonight. Cortez The Killer with Neil was pretty cool but it seemed to drag on. Im really just happy that DMB finally got a chance to play Ames while Im still in school here, it was very very cool. I'd say that this was definitely in the top two of the concerts I've seen...its hard to choose between this and 8-7-04. Dave seemed really pumped for this show, he must have been strumming the hell out of his guitar because he broke stings on two different occasions...fonzi was rocking out...as were carter, boyd, butch, and roi of course...but everybody says that! So overall, very very awesome show!...I cant thank this band enough for doing what they do, they freakin' rock!

I'm a longtime DMB fan, but new to antsmarching. This show was on its way to being among the very best I've seen. . . and then Neil Young showed up. I admit that when Neil came out, I was excited at the prospect of hearing once-in-a-lifetime versions of Watchtower and Cortez, but after what seemed like 45 minutes later, I had been to the bathroom, chatted with some friends, and sat through a good portion of each song. Why?, you ask. Because Neil played way too long on both songs. And I hate to say this to all the people who worship Neil Young, but the truth is that they weren't even that good. Get ahold of the show and give it a listen, you'll see what I mean. I bet you'll want to cut out Watchtower and Cortez and keep the rest. After a while, you could even see it on the faces of the band, including Dave. Pretty much everybody in the arena but Neil seemed to want it to end. It totally killed the mood which had been awesome prior to Mr. Young's appearnce. Ben Harper rocked his part of the show! and would have been a much better guest to play with DMB. A glance at the setlist only begins to describe how good the DMB portion of the show was. By far, the best Jimi Thing I've heard, Dave went crazy! Joy Ride and Hello Again are much better than the last time I heard them, and the crowd was really jamming to both! Getting to hear awesome versions of Granny, Pig, and 41 in the same show was a treat. Crush and Too Much were great in the encore, but I didn't feel like DMB was able to recapture the crowd after Neil Young. I did enjoy Rockin' in the free world. That would have been the perfect amount of Neil for me. I would rate the show as a solid A, maybe even A+ if you eliminate Neil Young's "contribution". But since I had to sit through it, and I really think his portion of the show killed the mood for a lot of us, the show gets dropped to a B. To those people who disagree about Neil Young, I'd say this: Would you choose to hear those 3 songs that Neil played and where DMB was not as involved or would you choose to hear 3-4 songs featuring DMB exclusively. To quote Dave, "I think you all know who I'm voting for." And to quote Lynard Skynard on Neil Young, "a Southern man don't need him around anyhow."

Great Show, as always, DMB pleased the crowd immensely with OSW, Grey St., Granny, #41 with a little bit of an Everyday outro that hardly anyone picked up. Then the new songs came and the relatively weak audience did not greet them with the dancing and cheers they deserve...maybe the crowd was just really laid back and that is o.k. Pig-jimi-Warehouse...get outta here, that was the highlight of the night. Cry Freedom was beautiful, then Neil Young played guitar for three hours while the guys tried to vibe and did. The 8 verses of "two riders were approaching" by Neil was crazy, but face it still was awesome, Neil just stayed out too long...Great Performance but not as good as Alpine this year. Cheers to Ben Harper and like the rest of you I can't wait for the new album...

Dave pulled out yet another amazing set list up in Ames and not only did he play his own amazing songs but when he busted out Neil Young as his guest, the show had only begun. Cortez the Killer and Keep on Rockin' in the Free World were 2 of the best songs I've seen live with Dave.

Perhaps the best full band show i've ever seen. Its hard for me to read some of the posts on here that claim Neil didn't rock. My friends, you all should get a clue. I always try to stick up for dave fans, because hey, i'm one of them, but seriously, expand your horizons. This was truly a night to remember, despite the poor reviews by some.

awesome show. one sweet world was a suprisingly good opener. grey st. jimi warehouse and crush were amazing. the version of too much blew me away, i didn't think it would be that good. i woulda really loved to hear tripping billies but #41 makes up for taht big time. at first when neil came out it was cool but once he kept going on and on it kinda sucked the life outta the show, hes awesome at guitar but i woulda liked to hear more of the band. and dave shoulda sang on cortez and watchtower a little. but overall a great show.

The show purely just rocked! Hearing #41 for the first time was so awesome-especially since it didn't last for 20 minutes. Pig, Grey Street, n Warehouse were so awesome. Watchtower's music was awesome but i wish Dave would have sang instead of Neil. Same with Cortez- Dave should have sang! The crowd was so loud at some points it was nuts, during warehouse especially. I wish he wouldn't have ended on Too much, although it was awesome! Overall the seats were perfect, music was awesome and we had a blast!

During this show I sat in the mix at the side of Fenton Williams. Possibly the best lighting person in the industry. He was kind, talkative, and interested in what my involvement was with technical lighting.

The setlist was pretty damn good... couldn't ask for too much more. One Sweet World made for a better opener than I would have thought. #41 with the Everyday outro is always a treat. The new songs have really come along since last time I saw them... getting excited for the new album. It was great to see Neil play with the band. I agree that he may have outstayed his welcome, but honestly, you're not going to see that again so it was legit. Glad to see that Dave and Carter are still rocking the Lil Jon yeahs, whats, and okaays in Too Much.

I thought the whole night was just amazing. My Morning Jacket really impressed me with their first two songs, after that the two DJ's for Jurassic 5 tore it up. What can I say for Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals? For the first time seeing him live I was very impressed and would love to go to one of his concerts again. As for as DMB goes, amazing performance. I thought it was going to be tough to match Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals performance but they didn't let me down. Finally glad to hear One Sweet World and Cry Freedom. Jimi Thing was one of my favs for the night along with Warehouse. But I have to say that the mixture of Neil Young in there was awesome. He added a whole new vibe to the show and made it only so much more enjoyable. Sure we didn't hear much of All Along the Watchtower, but man his guitar playing was great. Cortez was done greatly and Keep on Rocking in the Free World. I would have only wished for a different encore just becuase I have heard this two songs a couple of times already. Where is my Trippin Billies?

This was my 3rd show for the year and was a great way to end the year. JIMI THING was my favorite!!! Dave went nuts again just like @ Alpine this summer...The Neil Young stuff went on a little too long and was officially the first time I ever left a show to go pee. I felt guilty but oh well. Pig, Granny & Grey Street were my other favorites!

Most of the reviews I have read have taken away from how amazing a show this was. Neil Young coming out and playing with DMB is one of the defining moments in my life. All you ignorant people that are so hung up on being at a "Dave Show" and can't appreciate once in a lifetime experience. Neil Young is like the founding father when it comes to political rallies and stadning up for your rights. If not for him we may not even have the amazing music of DMB or many others. Also, when everyone says that he "wore out his welcome", DMB had played with NY 2 days before that and I read similar reviews that even DMB were standing around. If you followed your idols as closely as some of you seem too you would follow them in taking in the amazing experience of seeing Neil Young live on stage singing Cortez the Killer. Sorry for ragging but all these NY haters should go back and listen to their parents' albums and hear what it means to stand up for your rights and make change... AND IT AIN'T BUYING A $50 TICKET TO SEE YOU FAVORITE BAND!!!

All I have to say is Neil Young, Watchtower and 20 minute Cortez the Killer! Wow! Amazing show for an inside venue. Crowd was pretty pumped up, wish I could have had that high of energy. Love that I witnessed the great Neil Young, but I do remember a few yawns I had in there. Very happy that I heard Crush finally.

Crazy show but Neil Young kind of took the spot light away from the band...however, Jimi Thing made up for all of it. Cry Freedom, One Sweet World, Crush all great songs. p.s. did Neil Young seriously smash his guitar at the end of Rockin in the Free World?

The show was awesome, didn't get enough Ben but my main reason for going was to hear the boys play, it's been awhile. I was super happy to hear the older tunes and looking forward to the new stuff coming. I could not believe my eyes when Neil lumbered on stage, the man is a legend, and while I agree that the mood may have shifted at that point, I got over it and enjoyed the treat. It's cool to see people I admire for their talent humbled in the presence of an artist THEY admire.

I MET DAVE MOTHER FUCKING MATTHEWS BEFORE THE SHOW!!! Sorry, it was my first time meeting him. I'M SOOOOO HAPPY. The show was INCREDIBLE. I got to hear #41 for the third time LIVE, but for the first time with the Everyday outro. It was cool to see Neil Young and finally hear Watchtower and Cortez the Killer. Although, the songs went on a little too long...still a great experience. This show marks number 6 for me, and because I met Mr. Matthews :-)...it is the MOST memorable.
