It was my first one....I was 5 months pregnant with my son who is a huge Dave fan and who just attended his first(since birth)DMB concert on 6-02-06!
8-10-02 rates 2nd out of the four I've attended with 06 being #1.

This was my first show and I had a pretty good time. We were in the lawn by a bunch of high school kids who got in trouble for drinking and got taken off. After that, we had plenty of space!

Good show. Crowd wasn't really into it as much as other shows I've been to. Didn't expect what you are for a closer but it was the best version I'd ever heard of it. Two step was awesome. Lots of good songs in this show.

What a starter Stone, Pig Grey combo rocked out. Rhyme was kick ass. Grace was a great jam. Digging a ditch was slow and very much a groove song.

The set list for this show was very similar to the setlist played in Cincinnati, with half the songs being the same. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy hearing them again -- the show was execllent. Compared to Riverbend, the sound at Deer Creek (aka Verizion Wireless) was much better. Riverbend was very muffled and overly bass-heavy where I was sitting. Plus, the low ceiling of the Riverbend ampitheater gave a very cramped feeling. Deercreek is much perfered.
The Stone is a great opener and was just enjoyable the second time.Pig was great; it was the first time my wife really "heard" the song and it instally became one of her favoties. A guy sitting beside us threw a little stuffed piggy on the stage but didn't really get much of a reacation. (Neither did the person who threw full cup of beer on the stage, barely missing Matthews. Good thing for that person that they were not sitting beside me.)
Grey Street again caused a huge smile across my face; this is my favorite of all the "Summer So Far" songs.
Bartender was dedicated to the death of a young person named Ian. This was about the only understandable speaking from Matthews between songs and everyone was quite for this dialog. A nice touch. The performce of the song was very similar to Riverbend, including the keyboard and penny whistle solos at the end.
One Sweet World was a good play of an early song and was a fairly standard representation.
Fool To Think was a song I unfortunately overlooked on it's album release. After hearing it in concert twice, I see I was wrong to do so. Lots of enenrgy and great sax -> violin riff. I'm glad my eyes have been opened.
The Dancing Nancies into contained the Talking Heads verses of "This is not my beautiful house, this is not my bueatiful wife", which were a hit with the crowd.
The encore was the best part of the show for me. This is the first time I heard Greavedigger and I was very impressed. Very unique lyrics, a great repeating refrain, and a strong conveyance of personal reflection. I really need listen to this song some more. It also made me realize how much I miss the 'Dave and Tim' concerts; I'm really looking forward to the solo performance by Matthews at Farm Aid.
What You Are is another song I overlooked on the Everyday release. It is not great of a DMB tune as Fool to Think, it is a great closer. Probably becasue it sounds so different from most other DMB music. It acts a musical conclusion due to the change in style.
In all, the atmosphere was more laid-back than the Cincinnati performance. Neither show was the type that had the crowd roaring with energy as I have experienced a few times in the past -- although this in not to be expected every time. The exit process did not take us very long and the stop at Stake and Shake for a Chili Mac Supreme hit the spot.

NANCIES INTO WAREHOUSE, Boyd went nuts for this one definatley the highlight of the show. One Sweet world was amazing as well. Dave came out for the encore alone and i was hoping for cry freedom or maybe typical situation but we got a great gravedigger instead which was followed by what you are with like a 3 minute intro or somethin but it was an awesome show.

Stone, Pig, SMTS->ASTB->Too Much, Stir It Up tease, Nancies, Warehouse and Two Step were the highlights. Also, Dave can't talk on his Verizon cell phone. No reception at Deer Creek! Dead Creek campsite was great.

Up to this point the best show I have ever seen. Dave and the boys were on fire all night long. The opening run of Stone through R&R was insane, one of the best SMTS-->ASTB-->TM I have heard and a great Two Step. Nancies into warehouse was definitely the highlight of the show with Boyd going off in them both.

OK this was my first DMB show ever. It was soo cool because I was up in the lawn with some of my friends that were huge DMB fans and one was like man I hope they play The Stone but I dont think they really play that anymore and then 2 seconds later there it came. Then I went down to go get a $5 coke and this guy came out of the pavilion and gave me his ticket and I was like alright. I was shown the direction to my seat and I almost DIED it was 10th row from the stage!! I could see dave sweatin like crazy and the main thing that was overwhelming was that right when I got there and they started playing Wharehouse and I just went NUTS! I am pretty sure that this was the first year the WOOH came about. I will never forget that night!

Awesome show! Glad to see DMB back at Deer Creek after over 2 years. Dancing Nancies!!! Finally! It was sweet. I really enjoyed Loving Wings. It sounds great on my copy of the show too. Was a little disappointed that he played What You Are as the encore and that was it. Sort of left you hanging . . .

This was my second DMB show (first was Riverbend 8/8/02) and it is what hooked me on this band. Even though I didn't know a lot of the songs I heard because of my DMB ignorance at the time, it was amazing all the same. The show made me go back and study the entire DMB catalog, has turned me into a trader, as well as a Warehouse member. Just an amazing show all the way around, even for a newbie like myself.
