2016 Project from Mark Roebuck

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand on 5/27/16 9:16am

Mark Roebuck - known around these parts for co-writing The Song That Jane Likes and also late of the legendary Charlottesville band The Deal - has a new music project for 2016. The World And All Within is now available, and not surprising it has quite positive reviews. You can read up a little more about it at Mark's Facebook Page

If you're in the Cville area around July the CD release party is July 9 at The Southern. Mark has been known to mix in some old Tribe Of Heaven songs (his project with Dave from 1989) so keep that in mind. Check out Mark's song One More Fall from the album on YouTube!

Check Out The One-Mic Recordings from Peter Griesar

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Side Projects on 1/3/14 4:20pm

Peter Griesar was sitting around in his kitchen on New Year's Eve morning, and decided to set up a microphone and a guitar and play a few songs. He posted em up on Soundcloud, so check em out!

You might recognize some from Peter's album Superfastgo (which is pretty awesome, BTW). If you've never heard Griesar's stuff, give it a listen and you'll see he's a bit more than a piano player. He first posted the recordings via his Twitter (@griesar) - so if you're in the mood to follow someone else, give him a follow.

And if you're new to the planet, welcome! Peter played keyboards (and harmonica) for Dave Matthews Band from 1991-1993. He is a Grammy Award winner for co-writing So Much To Say.

DMB Live Setlist for Windows Phone

Posted by Matt Yette in Site News on 7/12/12 9:38am

Being a diehard DMB fan has its disadvantages. The constant need to know what is going on at all moments in the world of Dave Matthews Band. That craving, that itch. No, not that itch. The desire to know. We get that. That's why we came up with DMB Live Setlist.

DMB Live Setlist, now available in the Windows Phone Marketplace, satisfies those cravings. Band playing a show tonight? What have they played so far? Boom. DMB Live Setlist. Oh, they played a show last night? What did they play? DMB Live Setlist.

But what if you're in the middle of something on your phone? Texting a friend? Listening to Pandora? Playing Bejeweled? You don't want to have to close out of your current app just to keep pace with the show, do you? Of course you don't. That's why DMB Live Setlist leverages the power of Push Notifications to alert you the instant a new song is being played. That's right; you'll be kept up to speed even when you don't have the app open!

Even better is the Live Tile functionality; exclusive to Windows Phone. Pin this app to your Start Screen, and during a show, the tile will come alive, flipping over to show you what the band is playing onstage at that very moment!

We've also included tweets from Ants who are tweeting from the show! If they've posted pictures or video, guess what? You get to see those too.

DMB Live Setlist is currently available in the Windows Phone Marketplace for just $0.99.

Rashawn Interview and Roi Tribute

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Member News on 3/16/11 6:18am

In case you missed it, and judging by the number of You Tube hits you probably did, Rashawn Ross participated in a tribute song to LeRoi Moore, fittingly entitled One Moore Farewell. Ross talked about his participation in the song, and also his participation in Dave Matthews Band in an interview with Guitarist Jay Pun.

The hauntingly beautiful tribute to Roi is found not only in the above link, but here as well. Check em both out, they are well worth the time.

ONE Campaign: Stop Mother to Child AIDS by 2015

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Charity on 9/27/10 9:11am

Dave Matthews Band is getting the word out; stop HIV transmissions from mother to child by 2015. The ONE organization has been spreading the word about AIDS for years now, and their current focus is on the transmission of AIDS from mother to child. DMB is fully behind this message. Other celebrities have also facilitated the effort, such as Tim McGraw, Daughtry, Ellen Degeneres, and Ashley Greene to name a few.

Stop on by the ONE official site to learn more about their efforts, and other interests they have.

Eight Years, 200,000 Members

Posted by Matt Yette in Site News on 6/16/10 3:31pm

The look of Ants on Opening Day
January 9, 2002. That's the day AntsMarching.org officially opened its doors and saw over 1,000 members register. We were stunned. Over eight years later, we have seen our 200,000th member register; a number we never in a million years dreamed would be possible. We opened with the first searchable Dave Matthews Band setlist archive ever, which would become the basis for countless features that we would add over the years. Today that archive is known as Tour Central.

In our eight years of existence, we've seen the rise (and fall) of the SHN Server, BitTorrent Downloads, the Setlist Game, Mobile Setlists, Mobile News, the B&P Database, the Ants Podcast, the Song Tour, Personal Show Statistics, Ants Gallery, AntsLive, and most recently, apps for your cell phones that keep your finger on the pulse of DMB. We've had two hugely successful Ants After-Parties, and are in the process of planning the third this summer in West Palm Beach. We've also been through three major design transitions, completely rewriting the site from the ground up each time.

We are extremely excited and proud about this milestone, and thank you for being a part of it! Going forward, we promise to work hard and continue to bring the community innovative, exciting features as grow. Thank you all for being a vital part of the best community around!

You can sign up at ONE.org and also learn at that link to contact your government representative and make them aware of what you think about the good things ONE is trying to do.
