Ants Podcast 79: Free as in Beer

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 9:48am on Tuesday, Jul 12th, 2016

The boys get a special delivery in the mail to kick off this podcast and set the mood to talk D&T CMAC plus DMB Columbus and Pittsburgh shows. Dodo doesnít make an appearance which forces the guys to debate what theyíd consider success in the #freedodo movement. Time to drop some game on the setlists (ie setlist game results), and your user questions see doughboy answers (and we donít mean Jake.)

Ants Podcast 78: Club Wasted

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 10:04am on Tuesday, Jul 5th, 2016

When 2/3rds of the Ants Crew is together, a live podcast is nearly a must. Thusly, Matt and Joe broadcast live from the basement of the Jensen's, also known as Club Wasted, and do so with a sizeable studio audience in tow as well. Both nights of Alpine are reviewed in depth, and yes, we talk about that Dodo tease. Jake joins us via Skype to varying degrees of success, but hey, isn't that the fun of it? A rapid-fire, Periscope-style edition of the Ants Podcast. Enjoy!

Ants Podcast 77 - 3 debuts and 2 nights

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 5:18am on Tuesday, Jun 28th, 2016

Dave Matthews Band reached the first two-night stand of the year; in Camden. What would that mean for the sets? What would that mean for the two shows before Camden? With Matt off saving Mother England, Joe M and Jake take a shot at making sense of what it all means. The debuts, the new song, the new venues, plus your Setlist Game recaps and of course the user questions via Twitter. The only thing longer than this write up is Jake and Joe's rambling; without Matt to reign them in this podcast is one of the longest ever! Sit back and take a listen. Break Song: Plastic Girl

Ants Podcast 76: Live Demos II?

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 7:49am on Tuesday, Jun 21st, 2016

With only two Virginia shows since our last episode, there are fewer shows to talk about (and even fewer songs), but plenty of speculation to bandy about. Brady Blade lets one slip on another podcast that sets the community ablaze regarding a possible new Dave solo effort in 2017. The battle for the top of the Setlist Game table gets even hotter, and we take your questions!

Crash Vinyl and Live Trax 38 details

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Live Releases at 2:51pm on Tuesday, Jun 14th, 2016

The official Dave Matthews Band site announced two great releases; Crash on Vinyl and Live Trax 38. They both go hand-in-hand in a way. Allow us to explain all the releases and swag associated with this.

The Crash vinyl is two 180 gram vinyl records - (that's on the heavy side if you're not a vinyl guru). Three songs a side recorded from the original analog tapes. What that means is that Crash will sound AWESOME. Loud, clear, like nothing you've heard before. You can package that with a plethora of stuff, including Live Trax 38. The aforementioned Live Trax is from the release year of Crash; 1996, June 8 at SPAC. The setlist is Crash heavy with some outstanding performances from one of the band's favorite venues. You can order either, or both. You could order neither too but that would be just plain silly.

There is another option - Amazon. The super-website offers a slightly different Crash vinyl; 150 gram vinyl discs with a fancy design on them. The Splatter Color vinyl really aren't that much of a difference from the 180 gram version available from the DMB site. Regardless, the splatter color vinyl is available here.

We're not going to tell you how to spend your money, but you can always buy all three. It is worth noting that there are no bonus tracks available on Crash; so what you get it just the straight original release on a great sounding vinyl. You can consider Live Trax 38 the bonus if you'd like.

Ants Podcast 75: D-iamond Anniversary

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 8:10am on Tuesday, Jun 14th, 2016

Reunited and it feels so good! Matt returns this week to once again join Joe and Jake, and boy are the latter two sorry for it. All recent shows recapped, and that includes discussion of the recent setlist lull the tour has been experiencing. Joe absolutely butchers yet another Twitter user's name, and also forces our hand in tagging this episode as explicit. We bum rush the Setlist Game and some awesome user questions.

Ants Podcast 74: You Have Questions, We dance around them

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 8:04pm on Sunday, Jun 5th, 2016

The Crew was merely 2 Live this week; Jake and Joe M took the helm whilst Matt felt the Bern, so to speak. With the band off this past week and based on twitter feedback, this episode is listener question heavy. Also addressed is the latest release announcement (a Dave Solo from 1996), the Bernie Sanders Dave Solo performance, and the latest DMBHub update that you donít want to miss!

Ants Podcast 73: Hello Kansas City!

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 2:37pm on Monday, May 30th, 2016

Four new shows on this podcast; a mid-week Birmingham, then a 3-state-consecutive-run through (the not cancelled) Charlotte, Atlanta, and St. Louis (or was it Kansas City?) We get "horny" as we break down each show in depth, including the new song debuts, some new guests, and show flow data that is telling an interesting story. Also, whatís the biggest surprise after this first part of the tour? Then after a Raven break, we touch on projects from Stefanís son (Diggy) and Mark Roebuck (not related), setlist game top players (we have some exceptional shot-callers), and your listener questions (correct pronunciations included.)

2016 Project from Mark Roebuck

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 9:16am on Friday, May 27th, 2016

Mark Roebuck - known around these parts for co-writing The Song That Jane Likes and also late of the legendary Charlottesville band The Deal - has a new music project for 2016. The World And All Within is now available, and not surprising it has quite positive reviews. You can read up a little more about it at Mark's Facebook Page

If you're in the Cville area around July the CD release party is July 9 at The Southern. Mark has been known to mix in some old Tribe Of Heaven songs (his project with Dave from 1989) so keep that in mind. Check out Mark's song One More Fall from the album on YouTube!
