In the Spotlight: Volume II

Posted by Matt Yette in In the Spotlight at 3:39pm on Thursday, Feb 11th, 2016

With our recent announcement (you listen to the Ants Podcast, don't you?) of over 1300 shows now available to download at Ants, we wanted to take things to the next level. What good are all those shows if you don't know which ones to listen to? Enter our resident Setlist Expert, Jake Vigliotti. Jake has spent countless hours listening to various live shows in the band's catalog and has unique insight in recommending performances that the community might find interesting. With that in mind, we are proud to (re-)announce our “In the Spotlight” series. Our first entry, made years ago, was the 5.10.95 show at Yoshi's, and that particular performance has been downloaded over 8,000 times since being spotlighted. Now, for Volume II, we are excited to announce 3.8.94 from Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. Jake provides additional detail on this particular show:

This show was unknown until discovered early 2006. What seemingly was just a typical 1994 DMB show held a gem; a completely unknown song. Still mourning the loss of his sister Anne, Dave wrote a song that nostalgically looked back at his relationship with her, recalling the playful moments. The analog fan tape labeled the song "Sister," so that's what we called it…Until about twelve years later when Dave debuted a song called "Sister". The two bare no resemblance. To ease confusion, this one is referred to as "Sister-94". Give this show a download to hear a unique take at a DMB show from the club era.

Volume II of our "In the Spotlight" series can be downloaded through our Downloads Area, or by browsing to the Torrent Thread on the message boards. If you're new to BitTorrent and need assistance downloading, there's a FAQ for that.

With the Summer 2016 tour dates dropping along with the news about the 2017 hiatus, we couldn't wait to record another episode. 2016 Summer Tour Dates Announced; 2017 Hiatus

Posted by Matt Yette in Tour News at 1:18pm on Monday, Jan 25th, 2016

Dave Matthews Band has (finally) announced plans for their 25th anniversary tour. The 46-stop jaunt kicks off in Wichita, KS and rounds out with a three-night stand at The Gorge.

Equally noteworthy, however, is the news that the band will "take a break from touring in 2017." Whether this indicates a 2011-style break, or will actually be the first show-free year in the band's existence is up for speculation at this point. Keep up with Tour Central throughout the day as we'll have the shows entered into the database shortly! In the meantime, join the discussion on the Ants Forums.

Ants Podcast 55 - Early DMB, Early Ants, Late Dates

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 11:08pm on Sunday, Jan 24th, 2016

The guys are wound up in this week's cast!  A little drinking, a little hacking and as usual some strong opinions. They dig deep into DMB’s early days thanks to an old Charlottesville newspaper article titled “Idiot's Guide to DMB”. Plus your questions take the discussion to the early days of the website. Oh, and speaking of early, the same can’t be said about the tour dates, but that doesn’t stop the debate. Also a bit of history on #34 and the results from the Song Series fan vote. Enjoy! Featured Music: Code Magenta - Code Magenta (Early 90’s LeRoi band(trio)/song.)

Ants Podcast 53 - 2015 is a Wrap, Let Us Discuss

Posted by Matt Yette in Podcasts at 10:38pm on Tuesday, Jan 12th, 2016

2016 is here and it’s just about the most wonderful time of the year… tour date release time. But before we do that, 2015 needs a proper send off, and some speculation on what 2016 will bring. We kick things off with a review of Europe and the unique sets/shows/venues the band played, then we take an in depth look at 2015 tour attendance numbers, and close out with your twitter questions. A bit of built up tension gets released too. Featured: Dreamed I Killed God, Everyday (with Matisyahu)

DMBLive series moves to 1998

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in at 7:05pm on Wednesday, Dec 9th, 2015

The popular DMBLive series has crept closer to the modern DMB era. 11.30.98 marks the latest full-band show in the 2-track DMBLive series to date. The excellent show - which also features a hidden JTR tease - is an excellent jam fest. Opening with The Last Stop, with Bela Fleck guesting, and running through Warehouse in the encore this baby's got more hits than a Hall and Oates show.

I realize we say this a lot but if you're not on board with the DMBLive series yet this is the time to take the plunge and give it a shot. Excellent show, excellent era, excellent addition to the DMBLive family. Go download it!

2015 Blenheim Painted Series Available for Pre-Order

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 7:41pm on Sunday, Nov 1st, 2015

The Fantastic Blenheim Vineyards is back with their annual Painted Wines series. The 2014 grapes were perfect and the latest batch is sure to please the pallet.

As you can see by the design, there's a ryno on the bottle. This year, Blenheim will match dollar-for-dollar ever purchase made during the pre-order and donate that to The African Wildlife Federation's rhinoceros conservation. So unless you're C. Montgomery Burns with your snazzy slippers there's no real reason to not get your pre-order on!

The Pre-order ends November 14, so order now! No seriously, now. Each order comes with a limited edition handbill, and there will be 20 randomly selected pre-orders that will receive the handbill autographed by Dave. Order Now if you didn't order 27 words ago!
