Blenheim Vineyards has updated their website just in time for the Holiday season. The Painted Red and Painted White, both with labels designed by co-owner Dave Matthews, are available for order! Their usual array of wines are also available through their store, which includes their delicious chardonnay, and subtly spicy syrah. But the stars of the last grape season are the new "painted wines". As anyone can attest that made it out to Blenheim during the 2010 Charlottesville shows, the new Painted wines are rather tasty. The Red is especially silky smooth. Rather than us wax poetically about the wines, lets go with a more professional sounding review:

PAINTED WHITE 2009
A complex bouquet of honey, nutmeg, cantaloupe and kiwi tantalizes the nose while silky flavors of crème brûlée, honeydew and cardamom caress the palate. 75% Viognier, 14% Rousanne, 11% Marsanne. Aged in French, American & Hungarian oak (70% for 2 months; 30% for 7 months). 310 cases produced.


PAINTED RED 2009 Fresh scents of violet, blueberry, and cinnamon lead to lush flavors of blackberry jam, anise with soft tannins on the finish. 41% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot. 64% aged in French oak for 10 - 12 months.

It's worth noting that all three collectors edition labels for the Painted Red 2009 are available via the on-line store.
