Two Shows Postponed    Tour News
Posted by Matthew Yette 8/25/08 9:50am
The Warehouse website has confirmed what has been widely expected, and announced that two shows this week will be postponed. From the site:

"Dave Matthews Band is postponing tonight's show at Raley Field in West Sacramento, CA and Wednesday's show at USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley, UT. We apologize for any inconvenience and we will announce more information on these two dates as soon as it becomes available."

LeRoi Moore's obituary in the Charlottesville Daily Progress notes that visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon, with the funeral taking place the following morning.

Although the newspaper mentioned the viewing hours, DMB management tells antsmarching.org that the family wished the affair to be private - for family and personal friends only. There is a future plan for something for the fans of the band, but this is not the more public plan.

Roi Moore Charity Fund    Charity
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 8/21/08 10:15am
The outpouring of grief in the community has been tremendous, to say the least. The most common question has been, "what can I do"?

The Official Site has established a memorial fund in one of LeRoi's favorite charities - Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Contributions can be mailed in, via check to the following address:

Charlottesville Area Community Foundation
PO Box 1767
Charlottesville, VA 22902

Please note in the memo of your check that it is for the LeRoi Moore Memorial Fund.

You can also make a donation on-line, via this link. The default setting after you select your donation amount is for the LeRoi Moore Memorial Fund.

LeRoi Moore Passes Away    Band Member News
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 8/19/08 8:59pm
Dave Matthews Band Saxophonist LeRoi Moore has passed away.

Moore died August 19, according to multiple sources, including TMZ.com.

TMZ.com quotes a DMB "rep" as saying:

"LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program."

The Official Site confirmed the news at around 10:30 PM eastern time.

Moore was 46. For a brief look at the life of Roi, click here.

Blame It On Rio    Tour News
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 8/15/08 2:37pm
The Dave Matthews Band is hitting South America.

As has been mentioned on a few occasions, the Official Site confirmed 4 tour dates in South America.

Starting September 26 in Manaus, Brazil, and then playing on the 28th in Sao Paulo, 30th in Rio, and October 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Rio show is for those 15 years of age or older, but if you're flying down for the shows, I don't think that'll be an issue.

These are festivals - except the Rio show - so tickets are available via the festival sites. Follow the link from the Official Site. For the Rio Show, follow this link

This is DMB's first visit to South America since 2001.

And thanks to our friends at DMBrasil.net for the additional info!

8th Best Show Of '08 Next Live Trax    Live Releases
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 8/12/08 12:29pm
... Or maybe 9th or 10th.

The Music Today portion of the Official Site has a bundle pack available - including the next Live Trax - Live Trax 13. It appears to be from St. Louis, MO.

It's not like the show was bad - by any stretch - it has Recently, Water/Wine Jam, and a #40 tease, but given the recent run of shows (read: HALLOWEEN), it's not exactly the show that's being debated on the boards as one of the best ever.

There is no official announcement yet, and management has changed their minds in the past (Live Trax 5 was changed late in the game). So until an official announcement comes, everything is subject to change.

UPDATE: The Official Site made it... Official on August 13. The Busch Stadium Show will be the next Live Trax. Pre-Sale begins now.

Halloween, Teases, and Reprises Hit Cincy    Tour News
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 8/5/08 10:22pm
Even without a Saxophonist, DMB continued to shock fans in 2008.

After a chant by fans, DMB dropped Halloween on the stunned crowd. This was the first Halloween since 2007 in Las Vegas. As if that wasn't enough, DMB teased Everyday, then went into Halloween, then Water/Wine Jam, then back to Everyday!

But that wasn't good enough. They did the now-popular Too Much fake into Tripping Billies, and then reprised Water/Wine Jam once more!

Oh yea, and they did it without a saxophonist. Fill-in Jeff Coffin had a previous engagement with Bela Fleck, and missed the show. It's not difficult to see why this tour is shaping up to be even better than the fabled 2000 tour.

The tour continues August 7 in Virginia Beach.

Dave Visits Graceland    Random Appearances
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 8/5/08 9:28am
The King Of The Castle visited the King. Sort of.

Dave Matthews stopped by Graceland to visit Elvis Presley's home in Memphis, according to Elvis official site.

Dave has interpolated "Can't Help Falling In Love", a tune made famous by Elvis, often in an outro of The Stone. As for a full Elvis song, Dave has done Stuck On You as part of an Elvis TV special - recorded in Seattle in 2002.

Thanks to Ants user DMBand21785, and his dad who is crazy for Elvis like his son is for DMB!

Leroi Moore Readmitted to Hospital    Band Member News
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 7/18/08 6:59pm
Leroi Moore has returned to the hospital.

The DMB Saxophonist was released from the hospital earlier this week to recover at home, but has returned to the hospital, according to The Official Site.

He was admitted on July 17, or early July 18, after issues occurred during his home recovery.

As we mentioned earlier, Roi suffered a punctured lung among other ailments after his June 30 ATV accident outside Charlottesville.
