Best Outdoor Town/City in the States

For me it would be some place with aesthetic beauty, seasonal outdoor opportunities (Snowboarding, hiking, whitewater rafting, etc.) and a great craft beer scene. Any hidden gems out there in America to be discovered?

Any suggestions aside from rainy Seattle? I'm not too familiar with that state.

Aesthetic beauty? Check. Seasonal outdoor opportunities (including snowboarding, hiking, whitewater rafting)? Check. (not to mention the city rated highest in the US for biking). Craft beer scene? Check.

I just figured since there aren't any mountains up there that people just stayed inside all Winter.

I'll tell you where. Some place warm. A place where the beer flows like wine; where all the beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capastrano! I am talking about a little place called Asssssspppppeeeen.

Charleston, SC is a decent one but more for just beauty and ocean not as much for hiking and whatnot

Sorry to all the others, but Luccic nailed it here. Saratoga has a thriving craft beer culture. It's the heart of the Adirondack Preserve, the largest state-level protected preserve in the US which offers an abundance of rafting, hiking, backpacking, camping of all abilities, sailing, skiing/snowboarding, snowshoeing, mountain biking...

If outdoors is where you want to be, Saratoga NY is the spot.

    edit: plus SPAC.

Western North Carolina is good for all of those. Especially craft beer.

Seattle really isn't as rainy as people think it is. But there's tons of great places on the west side. All along the northern edge WA is absolutely beautiful as well. Spokane is good too; Outside magazine keeps ranking it amongst the best outdoor cities. Plus it's only an hour and a half from some of the best skiing!

I'm going to put Missoula, MT out there as well. It's probably my favorite smaller city in the US.

    all great places.

Also Boise is a hidden gem, we have it all - hiking, climbing, skiing, mountain biking, fly fishing, great local beer and restaurants, bars and nightlife... Everything you could ever want but still a safe, small town feel.

Was coming to say Asheville, NC. It's a great little city. I absolutely love living here. Great places to hike, great downtown scene, awesome places to see live music and the cost of living isn't that bad. Pretty much everyone that visits me here falls in love with the place.
