Re: The National

The Vanderlyle acoustic closer to me is just so special. It's kind of it's own animal and not "upgraded" like the aforementioned songs...but the impact of the song on the album vs. what you hear live with the intimacy of it totally unplugged and everyone in the crowd singing with you...just no comparison.

I would agree, except they made the mistake of pulling up some drunk bro on stage with them for that at my show. Said bro yelled the lyrics he knew them proceeded to rip his shirt open like Superman.

Kinda took away from the experience.

It would be great if people at my shows knew the damn words to the song

IMO should only be saved for shows where the crowd is clearly diehard. Did not work as a closer in the 3 shows I went to

Fake empire works better as an opener or midset than a set closer. That and England should switch spots bc England is a great closer.

IMO the only song they have that works great as an encore closer every show is About Today.

The acoustic Vanderlyle worked the 3 times I've seen them...but I didn't really notice people not knowing words.

I agree Fake Empire should be somewhere else besides set closer. Feel like people would explode if it opened the show or opened the encore. I really wish they played About Today more...it's beautiful live.

God I love Aaron's and Bryce's guitar tones combined with Bryan's drumming.

Whatever electronic-y synth sound is going on the background needs to stop. Otherwise I dig it. Could see it being really good when it's cleaned up on an album.
