What is it that people dislike about Seven?

Personally, I still think the album is fantastic and is exactly the album DMB needed to create at this point in their career. I also think it's the album they needed to release 5-8 years earlier. And that's not to say it is without its flaws.

I guess I'm just really curious as to the whats and whys concerning others' dislike of certain songs or the album.

Didn't you hear? Its cool to like Dive In again. They don't play it anymore, pretty much. like 5 times this year (all D&T and solo).

never really dug it. the only song i like is baby blue, and i like it Alot! Im staring to warm up to squirm by a little bit. i'll put it this way, i found BW buried in my cars trunk about a week ago very damaged.

haha i actually did get the memo, my bad...but i gave it a listen the other day and i got hooked, but since i base what i like on what the people on here think are good im done listening to seven for at least a year

The ability for the band to come from the place that they were at (personal and creative standpoint and death of Roi) and be able to put that aside and not only create the level of music that they had created, but that vast amount of genres and creativity not used in previous albums - still absolutely amazes me. The Dave Matthews Band had been/is/was/will be a very lazy band - outside of their ability to tour for 19 years straight - I will stand by this album always.

based on the recent top 50 poll, this cd scored very low with only lihog & seven being selected towards the bottom of the poll. you can argue that the only cd it finished better than was everyday. it was tied with standup far behind the "big 5" (r2t, utad, crash, btcs & lws/bs).

You could argue that. You could also argue that because snow falls from the sky, that god needs to use head and shoulders. That seems pretty unreasonable ...

I don't really buy in to polls and ranking and the such when it comes to music ...

People like for music should be their own. If someone likes BW, they should be able to enjoy listening to it without people telling them they don't like 'good' music or that they 'should try listeining to BTCS and then tell me that BW is as good' ... Seems really dumb

I liked it when I first heard it (about a 6.5 out of 10) didn't like it for awhile afterwards, then put it away and tried it again. I now like it more than I did initially.

Personally, I don't know what people are talking about when they say this is on a SU level. I'm not saying BW is good for everyone or anything like that, and opinions are opinions, it's just hard for me to imagine someone putting on those two albums back to back and saying they're a comparable level of quality.

its a middle of the road album. i havent heard too many people say its on par with stand up because IMO thats entirely wrong. its much stronger than stand up, but its not necessarily anything amazing. its an average DMB album on par with everyday.

I feel it's far stronger than Everyday, but that comparison I can understand. The SU comparison I can't. I wouldn't call that a majority opinion, but I don't think it's unheard of, either.

It's probably the studio album right now I listen to the most besides BTCS. Unlike something like Crash or UTTAD, for me the studio versions of these songs and the songs on BTCS just have something different to offer, whereas with most of the other albums I'll more often that not reach for a live version. This may have to do with the fact that the BW haven't reached their live potential yet, for me.
