Re: new dispatch info

New album officially announced: "America, Location 12"

1. Be Gone
2. Only the Wild Ones
3. Curse + Crush
4. Painted Yellow Lines
5. Skin the Rabbit
6. Midnight Lorry
7. Begin Again
8. Rice Water
9. WindyLike
10. Ghost Town
11. Atticus Cobain

Here's "Skin the Rabbit". I really like this song. Definitely get a State Radio vibe but it's just has a very cool sound overall imo.

Yeah I really dig the new song. Pretty stoked for the album.

I've gotten the sense from both the email and that behind the scenes video that this album might contain only Chad songs? Both make mention of Chad bringing demos of a bunch of songs to their recording sessions. Pretty interesting if true. Maybe they recorded some Pete songs but ultimately decided after he took his leave from the tour that they wouldn't put them on the album and would save them for later, or maybe the other two guys just aren't really bringing songs to the table anymore period.

I think it's gonna be almost exclusively Chad songs, which is great because I think he's been at the peak of his songwriting powers lately. His last solo album Horse Comanche is one of my favorite albums ever. And all three of these new tracks are awesome.

Yep, somebody asked this on the Dispatch FB page and the band responded saying that while the album was collaborative, Chad is the lead on almost all of the songs. And I agree I'm totally fine with that. Brad is awesome, but I don't need a ton of songs written by him, his percussion and harmony additions are always great. And at this point Pete is obviously dealing with stuff and has been for a while. Chad seems to be the most driven in producing quality new material and the results so far on this album have been extremely encouraging to me.

Have never seen this thread. Awesome.

Anyone going to any shows this summer? Don't think I'll be doing Chicago since ill be there for the D&T shows. Leaning toward doing the Iowa show instead. Way cheaper.

Also, it's a shame Pete won't be joining.

Agreed. The only song that comes close for me is Get Ready Boy. But still think I like Wild Ones better. It's a fantastic song and I can't wait to see it live.

I'll be at the Levitate festival 7/8, excited to see them. I'm definitely bummed about Pete not being there but more in principle. He was definitely severely out of whack the last few times I've seen them and I'd rather him get himself right than be up there not into the show.

One of the coolest show experiences I've ever had - Dispatch or not - was when they did an event before the Dispatch Hunger campaign. They had a "tour warmup" show at Chad's house. There were a few speakers, then the band played for a bit, then they just walked around and talked to the people that were there. It was a really fun night for sure.

Man - Chad has been on fire the last couple years from a songwriting perspective, and they have definitely learned some studio tricks that they didn't have in their arsenal during their initial run. This is probably the best Dispatch studio album IMO.

The only criticism I would have is the sequencing at the end of the album. Ghost Town and Atticus Cobain are both great songs, but coming after that Rice Water > Windy Like, they don't really feel like powerful album-closing songs. It sort of feels like the album just randomly ends. I would have liked to see Atticus Cobain and Ghost Town come right after Begin Again, and then Rice Water and Windy Like close out the album. But as a collection of songs... amazing.

after my first listen - this is not a dispatch album. don't get me wrong, its fantastic, but its ALL CHAD. could easily pass as a follow up to horse Comanche.

Midnight Lorry is my favorite by far, love the way it builds. Like Painted Yellow Lines too.

The beginning of WindyLike sure sounds a lot like Zeppelin's Ramble On.

Best dispatch album yet in my opinion. Not too surprising, as I tend to prefer Chad's songs anyway. 'Midnight Lorry', 'Painted Yellow Lines', and 'Windylike' are the highlights.

Seeing them at Red Rocks next week. My first Red Rocks show!

Met Chad and Braddigan last night before the show at Breckenridge Brewery, dudes were awesome. Had a great time at the concert too. Brad spoke to what Pete is working through. Was pretty cool.

That's awesome. Was at the show as well and saw them milling around before their set. I enjoyed the show, but I really do miss Pete...it's just not Dispatch without all 3 of them. Hope he kicks his demons and can return to the road soon. Just saw they announced an acoustic tour, wonder if he'll be joining for that.
