Hard to believe that if someone was born June 20 instead of June 21 they would be a completely different person.

I don't subscribe to it, but "real" astrology if you will is far more in depth than 12 signs. Newspaper horoscopes are pure BS, there is definitely much more to full astrology. Birth times, rising signs, ascendants, houses, yada yada yada.

My spouse gets into it sometimes, they'll have someone pull someone's chart randomly who is known in some form (movie, tv, politician, athlete, personality, etc) whose birth time is known and with the info/year/location/etc. hidden someone else will assess that person's characteristics from their chart only. I heckle them but can't deny it's uncanny how accurate a lot of the observations are.

Whether someone believes in astrology is a great barometer of their level of intellect and also whether I would ever consider being friends with that person.

There are a few women I went to high school with who will post stuff like "Uggghhhh everyone be careful these next two weeks, Mercury is in retrograde again! " Makes it real easy to remember why I stopped communicating with them.

I'm curious what "real" astrology is as opposed to "fake" astrology. Wasn't aware there were distinctions amongst the astrology circles.

    It's very similar to news.

I mean, if you put any stock whatsoever into the fact that Mercury appears to be moving backwards in its journey around the sun compared to Earth 3-4 times per year, then I don't think you're exactly firing on all cylinders upstairs.

Re: Is there any validity to astrology?

I guess I'm just not in agreement that it speaks to somebody's overall intelligence and wouldn't let it affect my willingness to be friends with said person. That just seems over the top to me.

I know a few women who believe in it in some form or another and they're all successful, intelligent people.

I don't know. Most of it just seems like the summaries could be applied to anyone. Like someone posted earlier about a statement that a group of people read but they all got the same statements.

However, I do think the Saturn Return theory is interesting as far as 27 Club celebrity deaths go.

That's fair. In my experience the inverse has held true.

Re: Is there any validity to astrology?

    It's mostly BS...

but I do find most of my best friends are born in the same month as me, and share or are right on the line of sharing a sign. My father and I share the same sign.

I also don't get along well with people born in certain months.

The only women I've successfully dated and my current partner have all been born in April or May with the exception of 1. My mother and sister both were born in April and May.

Prob just strange coincidence, but I've definitely thought about it when comparing these things. Most of the Zodiac descriptions define me pretty well, with exceptions of course.

Re: Is there any validity to astrology?

Absolutely no way in hell astrology isn't valid. Some quack long ago invents the signs...other quacks write about how people born under the signs should behave...then complete idiots change their behavior to match their sign. What's not valid about that?
