On this day in history...

Should have started this thread on 1/1 but lets try to post something everyday for the rest of the year. I'll start.

On this day in 1851, Congress authorized the 3-cent piece. It was the smallest U.S. silver coin.

I had no idea until I saw a tweet about it from one of the local news stations. I have no sense of Florida's state history.

On this day, 1966, The London Evening Standard publishes a quote by John Lennon stating that "We're more popular than Jesus now." This prompted Beatles Bonfires and the banning of their music by radio stations.

1941 - Chicago Blackhawks' goalie Samuel LoPresti stopped a record 80 of 83 Boston Bruins' shots. Game was tied 2-2 late in the 3rd when Boston scored the deciding goal. Frank ‘Mister Zero’ Brimsek was the Boston netminder that night. Brimsek faced only 20 shots the entire game, while LoPresti stopped 27 pucks in the first period alone, followed by 31 in the second and 22 in the third, totalling 80 saves.

2015: Harrison Ford crash lands his Ryan PT-22 Recruit on a Golf Course in Santa Monica. He was the only occupant, and sustained a head laceration, a broken Pelvis and a jacked up hip. His quick thinking saved some lives. Cheers to that

    https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Alamo

All of which ironically started when Mexico closed it's borders to Americans.

But as history will show... General Same Houston, with calls of "REMEMBER THE ALAMAO! REMEMBER GOLIAD!", led the Texian Army to the "W" in overtime.
