Crystal Garden

So I looked on dmb almanac and saw this band will be touring with Boyd this summer and saw a local spot they are hitting up. Have not heard anything about this band, and wondered if anybody knows what their set lists look like cause I could not find any recent ones (any dmb covers (: With this year off would pay 15 just to see Boyd again!

I've seen them twice and heard them tease a single DMB song once. They're just not a DMB cover band, although chances are good that you'll hear True Reflections.

Their album is on Spotify (Let the Rocks Cry Out). It's okay - I thought they were way better live.

I am going to the 7/6 show in Cola and 7/13 show Asheville. Looking forward to it. Album was okay but for $10 a ticket to go to a small venue and watch Boyd why not

They only have one cd, the sets looks just like what you can see on almanac.
Fwiw, I think the cd kinda sucks. As mentioned above, they are much more of a rock show live then the cd is and better then the cd
Pretty good overall imo, ex considering what they do as a three person group

why are these shows even listed on the almanac? I've never understood anything that is not dmb-music-centric listed.

All performances that an Original member performs on are listed.

Yeah, it's just clogging up the site. No one cares about Crystal Garden setlists. Sorry BT.

Isn't BT techically not an original member?

I guess Dan C. will have to explain why these are listed.

Saw them at Toads in New Haven, CT. Boyd guested on a few CG originals (he sounded great). The other songs are forgetful. BT came out for the encore and jammed True Reflections. Well worth the $12 to see Boyd in that setting and get True Reflections. Also, got to meet and hang with him a little after the show.

As others have mentioned, the album isn't great but their live show is decent. Boyd adds a real nice dimension and it's really cool to see him perform in a tiny club. The encore at my show was "True Reflections" and "Shakedown Street." The infuriating part of the show was when Boyd left to take a "break" and was gone for nearly a half hour (if not more).

Really odd this is the band Boyd chose to tour worth... it is worth the $10, though.

Its not at all odd considering he created the band.

    Re: Crystal Garden

It feels like Boyd wanted to focus more on managing and launching this band that he assembled than more of a creative outlet for him to write songs. Haven't seen them live yet but figured he just kinda plays violin on 1/4 of the songs throughout the set. Cool that they do True Refections I suppose.
I'm going to be in Birmingham this Friday when they are in town, but I prefer to see a concert by the band Roadkill Ghost Choir and not sure that they don't overlap. Crystal Garden is playing 2 nights back here in Tampa, FL and they are actually both sold out with tix like $30 each. Its one of those seated intimate venues I think (its new) but was pretty surprised that tickets were that much and then that both shows sold out. Oh well. Not gonna lose much sleep over it.

More excited anyway for Carter & Jeff's jazz group playing tribute to The Weather Report this October @ Clearwater Jazz Holiday.

I will be at the show tomorrow night in Birmingham. Excited to check it out, but keeping my expectations in check. Will provide some "humble opinion" feedback afterward.

By the way, a lot of the shows are streamed on Facebook live

Oh damn, I just looked for one and saw the guy who typically did them has passed away.
He was super cool and assisted tapers out at shows to make sure everything was good
