Every single show I go to now I immediately find someone older than me.

Plus, for me, age is a mental thing and I'm just turning 14

Based on what? Tour central has SPAC N2 at under 6%, even if you double that its still only 12%. The huber of diehards that travel and only care about set lists is a lot smaller than what ants members try to claim

I'd say if TC has it at 6% you can probably triple it, maybe even quadcentiple?

    That's a word right?

Seriously though, if 6% of the crowd identified themselves through TC as ants, there's got to be 3-4x more considering how many of us don't bother doing that.

I'm talking about Ants and WH combined. Also, there are so many people on here that don't use Tour Central.

So DMb has two types of fans.

Fans that travel and care about the setlists.

Fans that hit up their local shows and don't give a shit about setlist.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out which group they would be better off catering to.

I did not mind Sugar Man at all. I did not like hearing Jimi 4 our of 7 shows.

Having Shake Meh close SPAC and Gorge... JESUS H CHRIST , remember when it was a great show and Dave and the boys would come out and punch in the face with 3 awesome songs for an encore??

I like the acoustic stuff but it reminds me of those bands that just go copy their songs like on the album. During the acoustic set the more members of the band on stage, the more predictable it was.

But the same could be said that use that function but don't even care about how many songs get played every night. The 4 people I travel to shows with use it and would certainly fall in the #family category

Again not true, fans also travel to shows and don't give a shit about the setlist. IDK why ants think they're the only group that travels

Oh gawd. They are those people huh? You should probably find other people to go to shows with. I kid, I kid.
I toss the #family type of fan into their own statistical group because they don't give a crap what's played and are creepy.

You are missing the point. Of course there are some fans who travel and don't care. There is a fairly large group that do care though. Why turn off that whole group when you can easily please both groups?

Ants doesn't think that. I've said Ants and WH combined about 3 times in 3 seperate posts.

I agree with bolded. I just don't think they should specifically cater to me because I want say goodbye every show, over the guy next to me who loves shake me like a monkey.

By ants I meant people that care about the set and bitch about it, this year in Pelham at the hotel, I was in an elevator full of the people who went to the show, everyone was talking about how great it was and I said "I hope tomorrow night is better", you should have seen the looks I was given

They can play Shake Me if they want over the course of a tour, but when it looks like this, it's not good.

    Shake Me - 15 plays
    Say Goodbye - 6 plays

That sucks but after the reaction of say goodbye compared to shake me I don't blame em for playing shake me a lot more. That is IMO how you can tell how few diehards are at a show. Songs like lover lay down, say goodbye etc get hardly any reaction, but the newer stuff most around here consider crap, crowds go nuts over

I would like the one regular set with some acoustic arrangements because they could totally do it if they wanted to.

    Tim & Stefan with acoustic
Horns a bit softer (muted Trumpet) for a couple songs.

I would rather hear an actual DMB song during the acoustic set that is also a great piece of music. The amount of plays sugar man got this tour is ridiculous.

Most of the new stuff actually gets a ton of people going to the bathroom at the shows I go to. Shake me gets most people heading out the door because it's pretty much always played as a closer.

just my .02... I have a friend who's been to 200 shows... along the way he's become friendly w the crew. When talking with him about this, he said that the crew explained the decision of the 2 sets was to not need an opening band. Thus, the band/management could keep all the money in-house because the band wanted to be able to pay the crew and the crew's families more. Not sure how much truth there is to this, but I think it's interesting. point being, if this IS true... I don't think the two sets are going anywhere.

Did anyone watch the S^2C event? Dave, Tim, and Rashawn on Mercy was more of what I was expecting for the acoustic sets... "random" pairings of different band members of certain arrangements. Anyways, the acoustic set n3 of Gorge was incredible, so if they're all like that next year I won't complain. But I did get tired of Ants, TB, and Two Step on acoustic.

And on the flip side, I miss 20-23 songs of electric. Electric sets went by way too fast.

As a lot of people have pointed out, you can't back up your claim. Even if we extrapolate the TC data, and double or even triple it, not all Ants care about setlist variation. Just because you care, don't project your feelings and personal preferences onto others.

The solipsism of some of the users here is quite ridiculous.

As a lot of people have pointed out, you can't back up your claim. Even if we extrapolate the TC data, and double or even triple it, not all Ants care about setlist variation. Just because you care, don't project your feelings and personal preferences onto others.

You are missing my point too. And if you don't think there is a large group of people cutting back on shows because of the sets you are delusional.

How was the show at Hershey this summer? Oh that's right Hershey doesn't exist anymore because they couldn't fill a third of the place. People that go to Camden no longer feel like it's worth driving to Hershey to see 80 percent of the same songs.

Not to mention, Camden's lawn N1 was like half full it seemed.

There is one simple solution for DMB to sell out venues consistently in the future. Play. Better. Sets.

People can continue to ignore the obvious all they want. But saying things like "you can't back up your claims" looks a little naive when the evidence is right in front of you.
