Just got around to listening to Under the Scales Trey interview pt 2. Enjoyed pt 1 a little bit more but that was a great podcast. I wish he'd interview more people directly inside the band's camp.

One of the best 2.0 shows today, in Phish history:

SET 1: Birds of a Feather, Destiny Unbound, Horn > Bathtub Gin , Sleep, Back on the Train , Bouncing Around the Room, Walls of the Cave

SET 2: Tweezer > Soul Shakedown Party -> David Bowie, Round Room > Harry Hood

ENCORE: Contact, Mexican Cousin > Tweezer Reprise

If anything, listen to the Tweezer:

i'm guessing you worded the bolded sentence oddly, but this is one of their best shows period

rippin BOAF to open, CRAZY bustout in destiny, and gin, BOTT and WOTC are a wonderful way to enjoy set 1.

and then set 2..... greatest tweezer of all time? you'd have a tough time arguing against it.

Realized I had an AUD recording on an external HDD with me, listening now. I remember really enjoying this show when I first listened a while back but I just don't listen to a lot of 2.0 Phish.

i think it's a very polarizing period of phish. IMO, 3.0 is consistently better than 2.0, but the highs of 2.0 were often bigger than what they've achieved in 3.0, if that makes any sense. tweezer from 2/28/03 is a good example of that big high. however, it's offset by the lows - vegas '04, august '04, hell even summer '03 isn't all that great as a whole. their worst in 2.0 is wayyyy worse than their worst efforts in 3.0

    all my opinion of course

I almost completely agree with this, but I still think they have big highs in 3.0.

i'm not saying they dont have big highs these days, i just think they hit the stratosphere in bigger ways back then compared to now

2003 however was the year where anything could be played at any spot in a set.

They were definitely more willing to take risks in 2.0 as well. It didn't always pay off, but when it did,

One of my favorite things about this band is the little discoveries you can make just by looking through their catalog. I just found out this morning that during a couple-month stretch in 1994 they covered "I Wanna Be Like You" from Jungle Book. The best part is that Fish absolutely kills it vocally!

The first version on 4/4/94 is especially good.

So, Phish is playing MSG on 8/1 -- Jerry's Birthday.

any guests or dead covers that night? I wouldn't be surprised if Phil came out... it's a tuesday... almost perfect conditions.

Should be interesting. I am getting very psyched for the bakers dozen.

They never do what's expected. Closest thing to a nod we'll get is Quinn for an encore imo.

Wouldn't hold your breath. They played Jerry's birthday in 2015 (aka GD50) and EVERYONE in the lot was saying they were going to play The Dead. Did they? Nope.

BUT they brought Bob Weir out on a Tuesday in Nashville. As mentioned, Phish doesn't do the expected.

Question for everyone, as I seek to continue my dive into specific all time great Phish jams. Favorite 2.0 jam and favorite 3.0 jam? You only get to pick one. Plan to give many a listen over the next week or so. Thanks for playing.

    2.0: Ghost IT (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Oj2ZN7gJ1A)
3.0: Miami Disease (slight attendance bias, plus I cannot decide) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNMuv4PJkl0
