Live Trax 38 - SPAC 1996

As Dave mentions to the crowd during this 1996 performance at Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center, “This fine State of NY always welcomes us here the heaviest.” This show is an excellent example of the band’s spirited performances, which have kept the door open for repeat visits to Saratoga Springs throughout the band’s career. On June 8, 1996 DMB was supporting the release of its sophomore album, Crash, whose songs are well represented on this setlist with the appearances of “#41," "Jimi Thing,” and “Two Step” segued into “Crash Into Me” to name a few. “#36,” which was recorded during the Crash sessions, but did not make the album, shows well the band’s relaxed playfulness between Dave’s scat singing and Carter and LeRoi’s incendiary performances.

Please note – this item is available for pre-order and will ship on or around July 12, 2016. Digital content will be available on July 15.

Yes. Opening the vault is never a bad thing and the band was so good in 96.

A 96 show with deed is done or rain would've been special.

This is as simple as it gets. It's a great set but there isn't anything that makes it different from the other 1996 releases that we have

Band was great in 96. Show looks awesome. Nothing particularly new but definitely will be buying.

A little disappointed there isn't a third disc of other material like they've been doing lately

Probably will pass on this one. Nothing pops out about that set to make me want to buy it. Clearly is still a good show to release, but nothing about that has me itching to listen to it.

It looks like the other 5 full band releases from this year. I think I'll just download the tape and listen to this one.

sustained, unrelenting excellence can be boring to some. I need some clunkers to make me appreciate the set more as a whole.

IMO and this may shock people considering its older dmb but this is a wasted live trax.

We are at a point where releases should have some significant moments that make it release worthy.

Rare performances. Unique encores, or jams or guests or something

This show is as basic for 1996 as it gets. Come on management

I'd rather have gorge 2013 with 34 than this.

If they wanted to release something that we would all have LOVED, and if it had to be a '96 show to tie in to Crash's 25th anniversary, they should have selected one of the shows with the ultra rare Let You Down.

DMB played 167 shows in 1996, and that was down from some crazy higher numbers in previous years. Add 20 more years of touring to those totals and maybe you can see why they favor the newer material now (not better, just newer).
