Im not saying that I think "song x" is better than "shotgun," musically or lyrically, but I just dont think its as great of a song as it gets credit for right now.

I happen to agree with whoever said it before, I personally think #27 is better than Shotgun right now.

We've been bombarded with total shit, so a song that is even average is going to get slobbered over by most people, which is exacly what has happened with Shotgun.

What kills me about Shotgun is that it had a great start lyrically, but that's all been replaced by cheesy lines and screaming.

I think if they keep working on the album and not rushing it which I felt everday and stand up were rushed, I think it will be very good. It is a matter of the putting out a solid recording. They can still do that it is just a matter of everything fitting, like it did with the first 3 albums

I love shotgun, it is a riff driven song with clear cut parts and great contributions from every band member. I liked the changes Dave made to the vocal delivery at the end of the bridge/chorus. Would I like to see it finalized lyrically? Well yea, I'd like some of the screaming to be replaced by words, but that's what the studio is for. I think anyone denying it's potential is crazy. It's got more going for it from a musical perspective than anything since Some Devil and arguably You Never Know (which kicks ass musically). With effort and time, not to mention great production, this puppy could be a gem.
