Re: What do you prefer?

There isn't a single version of Bob Law (which I like) or Bismarck (which I don't) that comes remotely close to GGT 7/10/04.

These songs are hard to compare because of the so many variations of ggt. The 04 versions were great with roi really driving the song especially to the end. I think my favorite version might be 7/17 but not sure if that dates correct. I like Bismarck, it sounds very 90s dmb to me. The same could be said for crazy easy because of the different varations. Although there are some great versions, it be hard to pick which version was indeed the best. The 7/16 version is amazing, the warehouse disc doesn't do it justice, but there are a few to choose from.

i have a personal prejudice against new things and change, so GGT beats the others by default, but I also think it's a phenomenal song... especially with

GGT 2004 is terrific, 2014 not so much. The average of the two, though, still beats the pants off of the other two (I do like Bismark, but don't especially care for Mr. Robert Law).

Bob Law is pretty forgettable. Sitting here right now and I can't think of any lyrics or hum it to myself.

Bismarck is regularly stuck in my head, in a good way.

I like Bismarck best of those choices.

GGT has never done much for me, just don't get it.

    Perfectly put

...but I do like Bismark for the record.

I don't even remember what Bob Law sounds like. I remember liking Bismarck the first time I heard it, but it isn't standing out in my memory

If you take away the fact that both Bismark and Bob law debuted in 16, there really is nothing else to compare the two songs with each other. Bismarck is a good song, Bob law is completely forgettable.

it's okay. it's just a mellow chill song. fun to groove to but not worthy of the pedestal it has always been put on. probably one of the most overrated songs.

in fact - Bismarck > If Only > Bob Law > Spaceman > Good Good Time

If it was only the way the songs are currently (or most recently) played, Bob Law wins by a lot for me. I like Bismarck a ton but still on the lower end of the new tunes for me. GGT 2004 really has such a place in my heart that any time I hear 2014 versions I enjoy but can't help but feel it's lost its luster, missing something (probably Roi).

Spaceman is an underated song. I'd put it above Bob law and if only and probably equal footing as Bismarck. I think comparing songs that leroi played on to one's he never had the chance doesn't work, at least for me.

i hear ya about Roi... but when comparing songs, i like to compare composition to composition. performance is another discussion.

so this whole GGT '04 vs '14 is missing the point. the point being GGT is a rather unremarkable song for DMB.
