But I won't because I'll have my white privilege taken away. But I can't say that because then I am contributing to the problem by mentioning it. I could list a whole slew of actual problems facing the black community not caused by white privilege but that's racist so I won't.

Maybe you should actually read Drudge report... You might find the truth friend.

I don't think talking politics in a thread about a political rally is too far off base.

I can take sarcasm, but I think implicitly denying white privilege is real denies reality. And of course there are issues in the black community that are not caused by white privilege or by racism in general. However, the large structural issues in our country are founded on a basis of racism. School funding tied to property taxes, the drug war, the legal system and many other large federal issues have created a difficult world for minorities. I see this as plain truth that is supported by data.

Also, I read the Drudge Report, brietbart and other right wing media. It's full of conspiracy theory and opinion dressed up as fact. It's laughable to say you can find any truth in those source.

Also, a local news article stated "Dave Matthews Band" and that was how I first heard of this. Regardless, the vote for change tour included the entire band and was a get out he vote effort driven by democrats. Dave has been a vocal supporter of democratic candidates and the band has been active in community based organizations that democrats support since the 90's.

Time to start holding students and parents accountable for the lack of achievement not the "schools that are falling apart".
In our area we have 2 school districts separated by 6 miles with the same teachers and the same type of facilities. Yet one district Is in the bottom of our state and the other is in the top of the state. It's not an issue of funding here, or teacherS, or facilities.

I went to the Dave show for Obama, it was pretty fun but a ton of waiting around to hear a handful of songs. That was at night and outside though which was cool (and cold that night i remember), this is I think inside where they do the rodeo shit and in the middle of the day. I RSVP'd but shit, not sure i can skip out of work for this one.

I did submit my name for the Meet Dave raffle, so if I win that, then booya to me!

Anyone have a clearer understanding of how the "tickets" work now that we are coming up on the weekend? Do we think it is just a matter of getting in line?

From what I can tell you need to RSVP and then get in line. You might have to check your privilege at the door though.

Gah, why is there no ticket pickup point in San Francisco?!

Seriously, though, I am thinking about flying to DEN for the day for this, but to those of you who have been to one of these types of sets before, if I get to the arena an hour before the event, what are my chances of actually getting into the venue? I RSVPed and they sent me the above email, but basically said I will be a standby if I want to get my ticket on Monday.

I'm visiting Denver from Boston but am leaving Monday before the show. Anyone think Dave will be in Denver Sunday, and if so if he hasn't any favorite spots there? I've been a fan for so long I just wanna shake his hand once lol.

Don't fly in for 5 songs. You have better ways to spend your time/money/miles.
"Tickets" is a joke. It's and index card where you jot down the same info that you put down for the initial RSVP. It also says it does not guarantee entrance. What in the eff?

When DJM was at the Obama rally in 2012 everyone stood line pretty much all day before the "doors" opened. If you go you will need to arrive at least 3-4 hours prior.

Most political rallies are free events and want to make sure there is a full house. If more RSVP requests/tickets are handed out with the disclaimer of not guaranteeing entrance they are able to achieve a "sold out" event.

I also agree that you should save you money instead of a day of hassle and 5-7 songs. But hey I'm just a sreenname in the google machine.

I would be willing to bet that there will not be drinking at the venue. My guess is the tailgating option at the venue is a non-option. Lots of places to drink in the area.
