Hi everyone! My favorite DMB song is Pig, and I just realized that out of all 40 albums I have on my iPod, I only have the studio version of Pig!! How is this possible? Anyways, what is your favorite version of Pig? LiveTrax or other?

Summerfest 1999 is THE best version

Pig doesn't have many live releases unfortunately. LT6, LT26, and The Gorge are all great versions.

Pre BTCS - I love the SOMA LT21 version.

In it's current form, probably LT6.

Though I do agree I don't think there's a stellar live release of Pig, but one that is decent.

It's hard to have a bad version of Pig. However, they did a little bit more with it before the Summer 2002 Tour. By that I mean Dave used to add a bit more vocally and Carter used to go a bit nuttier. Aside from that it hasn't changed that much. I seem to remember loving the version from 4/4/02. That was the first time they had played it since 99 and Carter went off at the end which was goosebump worthy. All the versions that have been officially released as a Live Trax, Weekend on the Rocks or The Gorge are all wicked solid. Pig is such a great song and has always been one of my favorites. To this day I still remember the first time I heard it. My older brother had the CD and I made a copy of it on cassette. Unfortunately the cassette I had didn't have enough room for the whole album and I believe it always cut off at the end of Crush. One night, a year after BTCS was released, I popped the actual CD in my boom box and listened while I sat to do homework. When they got to the "LOVE!LOVE! LOVE!" chorus I dropped my pencil and just stared at my boom box in awe. I couldn't believe how beautiful and powerful this song was. I immediately started the song over and must have listened to it 10 more times that night. 1999...those were the good ole' days.

My personal go to is WOTR, with LT 6 a close second. For some reason Gorge 2002's Pig never clicked with me.

Getting Pig in Berkeley this year, practically front row, was a transcendent experience.
