According to our own El Mayimbe, director Zack Snyder will release five seconds from the teaser trailer of the film this coming Thursday at 9AM PST, just before the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel at Star Wars Celebration. After that you will be able to sign up (link will be provided) and check out the full trailer on Monday April 20th at whatever theater is listed at the sign up. Basically something like what The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did a few years ago.

While talking to El Mayimbe over the phone I also found out that the trailer will now be attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron.
this is a joke, yeah? If not it would make the least amount of sense out of anything ever said on these boards.

Yeah, it really does, but I am going to laugh if it does happen. That site is really hit and miss.

Wonder Woman, lost a director and gained a director all in a matter of days.

Michelle MacLaren - out for creative differences

Patty Jenkins is in, although she was out for the same reasons on Thor 2.

Either way, I think it's a good pick as well.

I think Jenkins will do fine, but I was really excited for MacLaren, she did great work on Breaking Bad.

In case anyone wants to talk Dark Knight Returns I figured I'd bring the convo out of the Batman vs. Superman thread. I forgot how good this movie is. The voice acting is very well done and as I said in the other thread, I forget I'm watching a cartoon.

This was shared in the Marvel thread:

    https://games.yahoo.com/news/hollywo...210002636.html

Thought the discussion may make more sense here.

I don't know...as a DC fan this is a pretty depressing read. None of what I just read sounds very promising. It now officially has me a bit nervous. It sounds like DC wants to try and achieve what Marvel has done but is trying so hard not to copy them. So instead of borrowing the same formula, they're trying to make their own and it just flat out isn't working. I pray this article is BS and things are progressing well, but I have a bad feeling about this. I still loved the Dawn of Justice trailer, but I don't know...just sounds like things are kind of a mess at DC.

Maybe it will work or maybe it won't. I think DC's biggest problem is they seem to want an immediate contender for the Avengers. They should have done more solo films establishing the characters before putting them all together. The Avengers work because they established so much beforehand. The people who didn't warrant their own movie Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye were integrated into other films without disrupting them. If all the issues in that article are true then their main issue is lack of an overseer like Kevin Feige who makes sure all the movies connect properly.

However I think Dawn of Justice will be fine because I don't think they have the same moving goal post as the other movies. I'm sure they're just letting Snyder do what he wants for the most part.

Re: DC Cinematic/TV Universe Fandom (DCUc)

DC really is in a lose-lose here. If they copied Marvel's approach of establishing individual films first before the team-up, people would be complaining that they were ripping Marvel's approach off. They're trying a different approach, but are still getting criticized for it. I think it's a good thing to have director-centric films as it will give every film its own distinct flair rather than the same boring cookie-cutter approach Marvel has taken (except for Winter Soldier, for the most part).

I think DC/Warner know they have more recognizable characters from a pop culture perspective, so they're trying to capitalize on that. Like 95% of the country already knows who Superman and Batman are, and the percentage is likely not much smaller for Wonder Woman. Green Lantern was already introduced to the general public four years ago. The Flash and Aquaman are also pretty significant pop culture staples. Marvel was forced to take the approach they did and "build" their universe, because outside of The Hulk and Captain America, the non-comic book reading population had very little idea who Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Black Widow, et al. were.

I am slightly concerned that there seems to be a little bit of inner turmoil, but I'm not going to say I'm worried about it. My daily reminder: these movies are still a long, long ways off. Marvel has the benefit of the doubt because they did it first and have had a ton of financial success. As the newcomer, DC/Warner are going to have to prove that their method works, but it'll only be evident when the movies are actually released.

I'm curious to see how long the superhero craze lasts. Between the movies and television, superheros are everywhere these days. Hopefully the market doesn't become oversaturated and stale.

I'll give it a shot but I don't see it lasting. It looks like a CW show, not a CBS show. That'll make a difference I think.

Perry White is now black in the movies, Jimmy Olsen is now Jenny Olsen in the movies and now he's black on TV. Gotta have that diversity. He's probably gay too.

well but honestly, as much as I've been into a lot of these superhero movies over the last decade+ now, I've never read an actual comic in my life. So I'm only ever learning about these characters as I go from the stuff I watch. Plus as I found out, they have sort of retroactively put her into some comics lore, so over the last few years I may be reading other fans talking about this stuff and they make reference to "she's like this in the comics", so I didn't have reason to think she never was to begin with.

The worst part is this exist inside the same universe and Flash and Arrow.

Based on the trailer it seems like an awful casting of Supergirl.

She's wicked cute, and the problem looks like it lies more in the writing. It's too bad, because handled properly it might have been a cool show. I don't know much about Supergirl other than her name and that she's Kal-El's cousin, but I imagine with the right people behind it, it could have been well done. It would be cool to see a female led show that is equally as fun and exciting as something like Arrow. Look at Black Widow. I don't care if that character is male or female, she has just been well played and written very well. This just looks like a marketing ploy to get teenage girls interested in superheroes. It looks absolutely terrible.
